It's wrong to call people autistic and assume they have autism. But for future reference, the way that you phrased it with the "there's nothing wrong with Isla" is a bit tactless. There is nothing wrong with autistic people full stop. We're just a little different :) Not hating though
EDIT: Also, the problem here isn't really Isla being called autistic, as there would be nothing wrong with that and I'm sure you'd love her just the same if she was. But, there is a problem with the fact that people are calling her autistic as an insult, as a teenage girl at school, I often hear the word "autism" get thrown around as an insult and online and it is so incredibly hurtful. Perhaps with your large platform, you can discourage people from staying stuff like this, not just for Isla (although she's such a sweet girl and you have every right to defend her), but also for the autistic people who do not want to be thought of as these strange aliens. :)
Excatly this, we love the inghams and have watched for years me and my daughter watched this vlog and my daughter is 13 and recently diagnosed asd I had to reassure her that autism isn’t a bad thing just see the world differently than others , the word is thrown about so badly by people just let people be who they wanna be x
I agree there nothing wrong with having autism I suffer with learning disabilities and just because I have it doesn't mean I am going to be like everyone it just means I am slower at things and need help
💯 agree I did not like the way the mum was so offended by the idea that her daughter may be on the autism spectrum and saying no there is definitely nothing wrong with Isla😮 Well Sarah there is nothing wrong with having autism either it’s just a different way of seeing the world in-fact autistic people are the sweetest kindest most honest and trustworthy people you will ever meet so definitely not something to be ashamed of .
@@ourcherishedcherubs your so right so what if she did have autism there nothing wrong it just means you see the world differently so what if she had special needs I suffer with a learning disabilities and may need help always be proud of who you as jesus made us in his own way
Hi Sarah, I watch your video's for a long time, love it. I do want to say something about this one. I love hearing more about/from your kids but I hope for you that you dont feel the need to be defencive. Thats what is sounding thru a lot but I think not neccesary. Dont let bad comments rule your response but pride. You get to people with bad comments much more with showing that you are proud. Good luck🇳🇱
Isla if you read these comments,It was you that made a lot of people watch this channel when it first started, you were mega cute then and still a lovely young girl now.
I just want to comment, I dont think theres anything wrong with what Isla said about being autistic, she actually worded it very well and I appreciate her sensitivity around the subject however, Sarah, please dont say things like 'there's nothing wrong with Isla' because having autism doesnt mean theres something 'wrong' with you, you are just different and percieve the world differently. I just want to give you the opportunity to understand that it can be damaging to use connotations such as 'wrong' or 'bad' with autism, autism can be a really cool superpower like Jace's eye superpower, it doesn't mean there is something 'wrong' with him and I noticed you reworded that question I suppose because the question was 'is there something still wrong with Jace's eye' and if thats the case, I hope you can see that by you wanting to reword that question for Jace's sake, then it would be nice for you to not use such connotations with autism or learning difficulties. There would be absolutely nothing 'wrong' with Isla behaviour if she did or didn't have autism and you being so defensive over those 'assumptions' can also be taken negatively as if its offensive to be asked if you are autistic. Another way of looking at it is if someone asked Isla if she was homosexual and then you said 'there's nothing wrong with the way Isla behaves, shes not gay! It really irks me when people ask that' If someone asked me if I'm gay when I'm not, I just say no and leave it at that, because its not offensive and its not a bad thing or wrong thing in any way. I hope you understand how this can come across. Btw the specific part I'm referring to is said at 52:57. Just a heads up for when future referring to developmental disabilities.
Fantastic comment really well said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 from a very proud mum of a beautiful brilliant kind hearted sweet and gentle autistic daughter I was quite upset and shocked with Sarah’s response she came across very ignorant and rude I do hope she realises her mistake and apologies but I doubt she will because she thinks she’s perfect.
I’m so glad you commented on this! As someone with autism and adhd I found it quite alarming the word ‘nothing wrong’ being used in relation to autism! Being autistic doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you! I feel like societies understanding on autism and neurological disabilities is so slim, we’re never going to beat the stigma
I agree and I think the fact Isla herself addressed the questions so sensitively with the understanding there isn’t anything wrong with autism and that she didn’t offend those who do have it but she was simply addressing she isn’t shows how kind and emotionally intelligent she is and thoughtful with her words I would say that says a lot in comparison to many other 12 year olds just because she likes Lego and dresses etc doesn’t make her immature she really is lovely
@@laylaheneaghan1331 I really do agree! I think it probably helps that being a female and autistic is more commonly seen on tiktok and so maybe she's had some exposure to autism that doesn't look stereotypical, and therefore can see that being autistic doesn't make you an alien, also the fact that their friend they go to theme parks with is autistic is very worrying that Sarah can make such statements online regarding that something is 'wrong' with autistic people and therefore, maybe Isla also is sensitive and more educated on the matter having a friend who is on the spectrum makes her less judgemental and hold stereotypes against autistic people. I think Isla is fantastic at conveying her emotions and really appreciate her sensitivity around the topic. She's a very wise young girl.
@@CharlotteIvyI completely agree with you! However considering Isla is the next generation for our young people and that she handled the topic so maturely and sensitively makes me think our future generations will beat the stigma. Unfortunately, Sarah still seems to have the mindset of the 70's and therefore still sees autism as an insult and offensive. Those generations won't be mainstream for much longer though! Just look at the acceptance for LGBTQ+ communities. Young women like Isla are going to propel the acceptance of everyone and it's amazing to see such a young person be so wise around sensitive topics.
Why did I cry at the interview with Isla? She’s such a beautiful girl. Never change Isla sweetheart 💕💕
I agree she’s so lovely
Isla is just the cutest such a beautiful young lady x
Good on isla for not being a sheep, shes bloody cracking, that girl def knows what she wants.

Sarah let Isabelle speak for herself your always interupting her.
It’s a mom thing… I do it too. My mom also does it.
Just FYI you need to be resident in the UK in order to take a UK driving test. You can't take one when you're on holiday there. Izzy would need to take hers in Dubai now, seeing as that's where you're resident.
Hi Sarah, that thing that esme is describing sounds like OCD (as someone who used to have it) and felt a bit weird when guys said “before anyone says it there’s nothing wrong with her” so there’s something wrong with someone having OCD?
She did the exact same thing when discussing that Isla didn't have autism. I don't think people realise how damaging these negative connotations are. She wouldn't of said there's something 'wrong' with being gay, its no different...
@@Kekw79028 u what?
Wasn’t there a thing ages ago where they said she did have OCD but was getting help for it??
@@cal59281 that’s exactly what I thought during Covid right?
@@bexclark4769 yep, 3 years ago! They did a whole video about it. If I remember right I think they did some special activities with her brought her some surprises and she was cured and they never mentioned it again. Clearly is something that still affects her and something she has struggled to cope with previously
Just when I didn’t think you could sink any lower with your exploitation of those poor institutionalised children, any decent mother wouldn’t dream of inviting strangers to comment on their children, let alone then telling them the negative things people have said about them. Disgusting
I do understand the defence for Isla and the comments around autism. But I'm going to come at the comments from another angle. So I've got a 13yr old, who in my eyes I've never thought she had any sort of alternative needs, never saw any clues of being on the spectrum etc, but let me tell you now, its such a massive variety of things that can all add to being neurodivergent or on the spectrum. My girl has small things throughout her life that I would of absolutely said we're just normal quirks. Turns out after hormones hit she saw a few struggles (minor things that all added up to become overwhelming things to her) and she's been with a therapist for anxiety, who's put her forward for autism spectrum diagnosis and adhd. So it's very often no way near as big of differences as we once perceived... she's absolutely a normal 13 year old x
I knew someone who asked his parents if he could get tested for autism at similar age. He got diagnosed and so did his dad around the same time.
@CarlieMaria28 I mean she's not asked for the check, as she had no clue about it either. It was more she was struggling with anxieties a little and after in depth talks we found she has many little traits of both. It's honestly no way near as obvious as people once thought, nor as obvious as TV and movies make out
Sounds a lot like me growing up, I was just seen as a bit different or “quirky” and I ended up struggling a lot once I hit my teens, I left school early and never successfully returned to education. In my late teens autism was mentioned to me but I never pursued a diagnosis until my daughter was going through the process and I decided to after realising how much she was like me as a child. The understanding of autism in women and girls we have now is only very recently discovered about 10/15 years ago it was believed autism was very rare in girls. Now we know it’s just as common for boys and girls it just presents differently. Not to say that Isla is autistic, only a professional could make that decision but there’s definitely still a lack of understanding of what autism looks like in girls
I love how Mila says “hmmmm”. And rolls her eyes whenever you ask her a question!
What your favourite food cheese lol
Comment for isla ; don't ever rush to grow up , it's OK, but not that amazing . You have a lovely personality , you glow with health and well being .. I say to my girls , I have 3 , " don't race to the end , cause the end is all there is " my last word ... be yourself , its wonderful x😊
Sarah please let your children speak u always talk over them
shut up
The children are all adorable in this video I’m sure you’re so proud 🥰 but I’m going to have to unsub, I used to watch when I was a teen then life happened & I had my own little boy but started watching again a few months ago but some of your “fans” are awful & I don’t feel like I can even comment anymore without being attacked, but I wish you all well Em xx
One whats wrong with being autistic and what is wrong with acting like your age, but isla acts like half her age. Let the child speak for herself sarah you dont have to speak over isla and no one has ever said you’ve made you isla autistic cause that not how it works. You dont get autism from neglect. You can still be presured when your homeschooled, you put your kids all over the internet wheres there billions of trolls and preverts and people who will pressure your children more than school ever would. Maybe school is good as it teaches childen how to grow up and how your meant to act in society which these kids will not understand
What esme says about having to say good night to isla is literally like the definition of ocd
Also isla doesnt have social media then how is she seeing the comments
I love Isla, always have done, but one thing I LOVE about her is she’s not in a rush to grow up. Isla, I’m almost 16 years old and have the same thought. I still dress like I’m an “8 year old” as what other people like to say. I’m also homeschooled and when I was in school I felt the pressure of being like all of the other girls in my class to “fit it” , but since leaving school I’ve seen my true colours. I act how I want, I dress how I want, why? Because I CAN and YOU CAN. It’s so crazy seeing how much peer pressure school has on children, even as young as Isla. Isla, you’re perfect just the way you are. And don’t let ANYONE change that. And I also had an eye patch when I was Jace’s age too. I had a lazy left eye, but never wanted to wear my glasses. But for some reason I just grew out of it and don’t need glasses anymore 12-11 years later.
Love you guys so much, been a fan since 2017 ❤
Let Isabelle answer! You talk over her so much.
I think Isla is the most intelligent out of all of them. It's a real shame she won't reach her full potential because of the lack of a full and varied education
So true
How do you know what her education is like daily. Are you seeing her school work???
@@oliviagriffiths4850 no, but I can fully imagine that it's not full and comprehensive. And that's going by the minimal amount of time they spend on education
😂😂😂😂 that's the dumbest comment I've ever read 😂😂😂
@liisamaarit4607 oh, don't you think Isla is intelligent then?
Felt so bad for Isla you could see how upset she felt 😢 why would people even comment about autism or anything like that, let the girl be 12
They shouldn't used kid for money
Ikr I love Isla I haven’t met her but she seems so sweet ❤

i feel like a mum saying this i know you shouldnt have favourites but i just love isla so much! she is such a precious girl, she reminds me of myself when i was younger and i felt like i grew up too quickly, i look back down and wish i was still playing with toys at islas age and dolls etc, there is nothing wrong with isla, what she enjoys or her behaviour! she is a happy healthy girl clearly🩷✨
I don’t have favourite I love my kids the same there are twins there got Autism i still love them
Isla is such a sweetheart
I don’t know why anyone would think Isla is autistic! There’s nothing wrong with being autistic at all but Isla does not exhibit any autistic traits.
Was going to say this myself. Ive seen no autistic traits in isla. My girl is autistic, just not diagnosed yet, as still waiting, but pediatric team, play therapy team, school send and a friend( retired pediatric doctor) say 100% she is. When you are with autistic people daily you can usually pick neurospicy people out.
@@tonihoward5353 Absolutely! I have two autistic grandchildren myself so you and I know!
@@lindad1195I think unless you’ve been psychiatrically evaluated you wouldn’t know. Anybody could be autistic and
not display external symptoms. My friend was diagnosed in her 30s and not even her family suspected. A lot is traits that go on internally. Theres so many people in 40s/50s in media who have diagnosed later in life. In my experience unless you’re at the severe end
of the spectrum you wouldnt know.
Girls are great at masking.
People shouldn’t imply others are or aren’t in my opinion 😊
I agree i‘m autistic myself and i think it’s sad that when a child nowadays behaves like a child people suspect there must be something going on 😢 i love seeing children behaving like children being playful and stuff

Isla has a beautiful kind soul. She is delightful and growing into a very pretty young woman. All your children are marvelous and loved listening to them answering their questions ❤
Isabelle was constantly interrupted.
Good grief, I feel for Isla, how can people be so cruel, Isla you are amazing, be yourself and never change xxxx
Isla, enjoy your childhood. Dont rush growing up. You are a beautiful, smart girl.
Isla is 💯 , Sarah's twin
I live in America and I wouldn’t send my own child to high school here! Now my two kids went to high school here but this was in the 90s but I wouldn’t send them now not with what goes on there!
Can I just say Isla is the sweetest most sincere young lady, she came across so well in this video, showed her true self,so sweet genuine and kind , never change ❤❤❤❤❤❤
As someone with autism and adhd the wording of ‘there is nothing wrong’ is quite insulting. Having autism is not like having an illness, and there is nothing ‘wrong’ with being autistic. We have a long way to go to beat the stigma clearly.
As someone born/raised in the US, high school here is nothing like the movies. That’s an extremely romanticized version of reality😭
Right, I hated it. Wish I had been home schooled
Sarah you seem to have something against autism and ocd and other disabilities/mental health issues , you have never experienced being us having to deal with autism ect in a world full of trolls , making out like it’s such a bad thing to have autism or ocd I’ve noticed you’ve said stuff a few times that makes it sound like you have something against it , so what if Isla did have autism or ocd what is the problem?? I think you need to be careful with the way you word things like that
Milas section cracked me up. I’ve had literally the worst day and her hmmms and cheese answers really made me laugh. Shes such a cheeky little soul in the best way 💜
I absolutely loved the vlog. It is great hearing from the 4 oldest. Mila is cute but just wants her cheese right now. LOL. I hated school bigtime and would have loved to be homeschooled. It wasnt an option back then. I love how the kids have all got their own individual likes and dislikes for their age groups. Dont change just because other people think you should you should be doing something differently.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh sweet Isla. You are so so precious. You are perfect. I don’t see how anyone sees that there could be anything wrong with you. Stay young as long as you want. There is nothing wrong with it. I’m 45 and I still buy toys for myself sometimes. I’m sorry people are so judgey. 💜💜💜
There is nothing wrong with having autism either maybe some people were just curious as my daughter has autism and she is very young at heart and sweet and gentle just like Isla so maybe people were just curious not judging as I said there is nothing bad about being autistic most autistic people are the sweetest kindest honest people ever I find it strange that Sarah was so offended by the idea of her daughter having special needs but that says more about her really doesn’t it?
I applaud Isla for being her own person & doing her own thing. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with still wanting to play with dolls or toys at the age of 12! There is no reason to rush growing up because speaking from experience, it isn't that great. I honestly wish I wouldn't have been in a rush to grow up. I remember getting together with my younger cousin to play with her dolls when I was 12 & I loved it. A plus to homeschooling is not having the pressures to fit in & grow up at a faster pace like I experienced in regular school. Isla, you are perfect the way you are! You are a sweet, kind, all around lovely girl. Don't pay attention to the haters.
Isla has empathy she’s an old soul you do you darling
Defo need a part two. Loved this vlog. All the children are amazing in their own way. 😊
Just when you think this mum couldn't go any lower than a snakes belly here she is telling a 12 year old people comment about her . Omg I literally have no words 😢

Nothing this woman does surprises me
@@Vikki-zo1js How do you think I s l a came across the comment in the first place.
Yes but you very clearly stated that Sarah had sat there and told ISLA the comment that was made my point was that was an untrue comment you made because what was said was isla had seen the msg and wanted to reply so fact check yourself before making pointless comments
@@Vikki-zo1js I've a headache after reading that comment Vikki it makes no sense at all
Isla is just the sweetest soul 😍 I’m 29 and on the waiting list for an autism referral. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being autistic, it’s not a problem, but I don’t think Isla shows any signs of it tbh. People just need to mind their own business. I’m sure if Sarah thought there was something there, she’d get her tested. Kids grow up too fast these days, let her enjoy her childhood as it doesn’t last long 😂 sending love to Isla xx
i knew of a teenager who asked his parents if he could get tested for autism. Got diagnosed during covid and dad ended up being diagnosed too.
Aurora can't wait to see you grow
Mila your a wild cheesy girl who keeps you busy.
Jace your a cool dude it doesn't matter if your hairs long or short your still the same.

@oliviagriffiths4850 exactly, autism is a superpower and not a bad thing, I'm 13 and I was doing work for 16/17year olds
I have always enjoyed watching your videos and actually felt bad that you have felt so judged for your life choices, which I genuinely thought were inspirational . However today my opinion changed, when I watched this video.
You don’t like being judged yet you thought it was ok to air a video using the word ‘normal’ to describe neurotypical! My 13 year old was diagnosed with autism at the end of last year, there is nothing ‘wrong’ with her, she sees the world differently to a neurotypical person but that doesn’t make it ‘wrong’. She is a very intelligent child who will go along way. What is wrong is that people use language to make her feel excluded or not accepted in the neurotypical world. You didn’t like when you thought someone was being critical of your child, I don’t like the language you used to make my child feel like she’s ’not normal’! You have a platform to promote a positive change in the world yet you’ve used it to make autistic children feel like they are abnormal. Think about the language you use, you wouldn’t like it if it was directed to one of your children!
Love Isla she is the sweetest kindest girl and oh so clever her memory is awesome she never forgets anything and she is beautiful love all the girls and Jace but I have a soft spot for Isla xx

Wow would never had thought for a minute Isla is autistic (have family members on the spectrum so very familiar with the traits). You do you Isla! My 18 year old daughter has been to one party in her life (wasn't a fan), and also sits home at weekends with her boyfriend (he's almost 19) and plays board games, also build lego, and have even sewn matching pj pants and made teddy bears. Nothing wrong with being who you want to be. I'd rather my kids be themselves than a sheep.
What did sarah mean when she said Isla has never had Autism ?
She's uneducated
Yeah the wording was the best as being autistic is not a illness u can get over as it’s just a different way of seeing life being autistic is nothing to be ashamed of in fact autistic people are very intelligent and have iq bigger then most people do something to be proud of ❤

I just want to say that we were homeschooled as well, and it makes me feel happy hereing you and Isla talking about growing up at your own pace. I Kayla also like playing with toys until I was 14 and I used to think that I was weird cause a lot of girls my age was dating and dressing slutty so thank you Sarah seriously you just brought me to tears but in a good way. sending you all love you guys are amazing.
I love this comment 🩷🩷
Not saying isla is autistic but beig autistic is nothing to be ashamed about
There is NOTHING wrong with Isla. I was homeschooled and played with barbies till I was 15. Everyone is different and Isla is growing at her own pace. Don't be in a hurry to grow up, Isla❤️
There is nothing wrong with being autistic either.
being autistic doesnt mean theres something wrong. :)
@@haz1222it does though, if it didn’t mean anything was wrong then there would be no need for ppl to be diagnosed with it nor would it be considered a disorder
@@hey5032people seek a diagnosis to understand why they feel or act the way they do or to be able to access extra help in school/work/life and many more reasons. It doesn’t mean anything is ‘wrong’ with them. Don’t be cruel in the comments just for the sake of it!
@@hey5032 it’s just different not wrong and it’s definitely NOT a disorder please educate yourself before making silly comments the correct terminology is neurodivergent not ASD .
Fantastic vlog 💖 Really enjoyed your Question and answers 😀
Never change yourselves how you are as you are all so lovely and genuine and real 🥰
Hi! Just wanted to say if Isla wants to do acting, she defo should do some acting lessons, it’s sort of a hard thing to just jump into when you’re older, since at auditions there’s lots of people who’ve been doing it for ages. If she starts lessons or private lessons she could learn monologues and have a good chance at getting auditions in her future if it’s something she’s interested in! Also it’s fun and good learning experience and confidence building anyway! Best of luck to her though, you can tell she’s a really sweet person!
Omg Esme! Sing longer ❤ that was good. I love seeing the kids grow and change thier minds. I also love how u handled the Autism question ❤ ty for this amazing video ❤
Omg isla reminds me so much of my daughter who is now 28 bloody fantastic parents you both are
It is nothing to do with how Yr child is reared
My daughter go to school
Fir a 15 Yr old
She is not what people expect children of a certain age to do or be
Every child is their own person

That’s right you do only live once . I wish I could have been taught at home I would have been a lot happier 😊why any one can say anything about any of the children there all beautiful and unique. There is a here a high school in Australia that my son attended which is American style the teachers don’t teach it’s all from books the students have to use flags to ask if they can go and mark their own work they have to put another flag out to ask a question another flag to ask if they can go to the toilet my son kept getting into so much trouble for putting out the wrong flag he spent two miserable weeks there then left I couldn’t do that to him the only reason he went there was because we couldn’t get him into a school that he wanted to go to .I’m not saying all schools in America are run like that I wouldn’t have a clue I point is that not all children can settle into that school if there not use to that system 😊thank you for sharing it was lovely
I saw Paramore last November they were amazing! i love Hayley Williams!!
