- Marie Therese Tviberg of Norway and Germany's Alexander Schmid upset pre-race favourites to claim the women's and men's parallel gold medal at the 2023 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships on Wednesday.
28-year-old Tviberg took her second medal in the competition, following a silver in Tuesday's team event: the Norwegian topped the podium after comfortably beating combined silver medallist Wendy Holdener in the big final.
In the men's race, Schmid defeated Dominik Raschner (AUT) to claim Germany's first individual title at worlds since Hansjörg Tauscher took gold in the men's downhill at Vail 1989.
