Hello. There's no conflict with an RTT ladder when deployed on the opposite sider of the awing. The MajorShady is available in driver or passenger side mounting. Thanks!
Hello. Yakima advises to always use the legs and guy ropes. There are many users of this and other similar awnings that will deploy the awning without legs and guy ropes under calm conditions while being attentive to changing winds and being ready to support the awning if breezes pickup. Even when legs and guy lines are in use, the user must be still be attentive to stow the awning completely under heavy wind conditions. Thanks!
Hello. Thanks for the encouraging feedback! Being a brand new product there may be some inventory lapses at first but this should be alleviated in short order. Thanks!
Great video, I just ordered a 2024 Outback Wilderness. I’ll mount 53 inch Thule Evo wingbars using the Thule Rapid Crossroad 450r foot clamps. Will this awning or the slim shady attach to the outer part of the crossbars and foot clamps? I really don’t want to mount the awning on the inside of the foot clamps/ crossbars since I have a rooftop box and other attachments. Any advice is appreciated! Brian. Also, does this awning lock onto the crossbar? Thanks!!
Hey Brian, the instructions show it going over the feet within the t-track, and I don't see a way to move it out more as it needs the proper leverage to balance the awning. This is for the bracket system, not the awning itself, however, so since the awning box itself should hang farther away and the clamps for your cargo box won't be exactly on it's edges, the box should hang over the brackets without anything getting in the way. Feel free to reach out to us if you need further confirmation on the dimensions fitting!
Thanks this was very useful, but let me help you how to read a map. The 36’ and 30’ figures are measures of angle in minutes. 60 minutes in one degree.
Hello. The fore/aft positioning of the awning on the roof rack is adjustable, this should eliminate any awning to hatch interference for most vehicles. Here's the manual showing all the technical details for mounting the awning: assets.yakima.com/Product/instructions/8007462/1 Thanks!
@@rackattack Could I attach it to the Evo bars with the Thule t-slot t bolts? That's how I have my Arb awning attached now. Would love to be able to use this awning. What's the weight? And only down side I see is that the rear hatch can't be opened all the way up? (a bar would be in the way)
For a long (8ft) awning attached to a short spaced roofrack, how long can the overhangs be on either side. My roofbars on a truck topper are only 5ft wide meaning a 3 ft overhang… strength issues in wind?
Hello. Minimum crossbar spacing for the MajorShady is 26 inches. 60 inch spacing will provide ample support. Here's a link to the manual with complete details: assets.yakima.com/Product/instructions/8007462/1 Thanks!
Hello. Yes, the coordinate graphic is Yakima, Washington, this is where Yakima the company was founded. AluCab may be the first to have introduced a free standing 270 degree awning, though there could be others, South Africa and Australia seem to produce a wide range of vehicle attached outdoor gear. Thanks!

Hi,may i know what exactly is your roof rack?brand?
Thank you!
Interested in knowing how the lift gate functions under the awning and if there is an option for a quick release so as to take it on and off quickly.
That center support is a great feature...this might be my next buy.
Hello. Yes, it's a nice design feature. Thanks!
Would you know if this gets in the way of an RTT ladder? We have a Roofnest Sparrow XL. Thanks! Great review!

Is it okay to use freestanding without the legs. What kind of wind can it withstand while free standing?

Hi, thanks for the video,
I have a 2021 rav4 and I would like to know if you have trouble opening your trunk when the awning is open?

How much snow can it hold? I saw a video of another awning that held snow very well.
Hello. This awning is among the strongest and should hold as much snow as the others under the same conditions. Thanks!
@@rackattack thank you.
Can you open the hatch with that kind of awning?
Hello. There will be a limit to the clearances on some vehicles.
Does this work with Yakima overhaul?
Yes, this attaches to the t-slot in the HD bar used in tandem with the Overhaul HD
Can you install this on a Trd pro roof rack?
Hello. The MajorShady fits to Yakima rack systems with HD Bars, JetStreams, or the LockNLoad Platform. Thanks!
The coordinates are for the city of Yakima, WA.
Hello. Correct, thanks for commenting.
I have the Thule Wingbar Evo. It is a "t-slot" type. I believe this would be compatable. Can anyone confirm?
Hello. No, the Yakima bolt plates are too thick to fit into the WingBar Evo slot. Thanks.

I'm thinking Yakima owes Rhino some money. No Brainer - Yakima Washington
