I'd really like to hear (off the record) what guys like Smokey think about today's artists. I'm sure they'd say good things in an interview but I can't believe they're not using a bunch of four letter words when they hear what they call R&B nowadays.

Absolutly ! Phil remind me a bit of Warren Weibe, where the talent is just "out of this world", a magic voice, but who didn't received the Recognization he deserves. We saw him with Jazz band, like Karizma, Lee Ritenour and here and there, like here, but... I would have loved to put my hand on the whole concert !

I love the audacity and confidence of those two opening yells/cries/"squawks"...I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that. Then he adds a run to the end of the third one and puts it into context. it's Monday afternoon on a beautiful day in China. Bless my brother sitting in Sydney, Australia for taking me down memory lane. His choices in music have truly shaped me. As a little sister, I would watch him dance and just thought he was the coolest person in the world. Today and now as he posted this song on FB I couldn't but help stop and listen.
