      I'm finding I love my friends spx 90 over my spx 2000... it's warmer... must be to do with its adda... these units are gems. #timemachines

      @Zero Cool None of the Yamahas I would call warm... but the Yamahas are still great and many use them for snare verb... Many would describe the SPX line as metallic sounding verbs.(even the 2000) For something more lush but affordable look into a lexicon pcm 60! Cheers - Bahrum

    These affordable units that were coming out from about 85-87-ish, are my favorite sounding reverb. I prefer this to more lush-sounding high end units. The reverbs paint, in my mind's eye, a very particular shade of dark grey ("graphite" to be precise) with a texture not unlike metal and concrete. Very urban and "industrial." Later units, like the REV 500 for example, are much too lush and clean a

      Awesome depiction! I think that was a great way of putting it. I have a R1000 also and it’s my fav for those huge dub/ reggae single snare smacks. I often wonder what the Rev 1 has vs the Rev 7. I think the 7 and 5 are very close and both winners for anyone.

    I have one, it’s paired with a D-1500 from same era, I think these will become collectible.

      Reg Rock I definitely agree. I love the D1500s! I have 2 and I think are extremely underrated or hidden as time has past.

    Do you know what the main differences are between the Rev 5 and Rev 7?

    • @BlueHouseSoundStudio
      @BlueHouseSoundStudio  4 года назад +2

      See my video on the Rev 5. Mainly the Rev 7 is grainier... the Rev 5 also has 9 combo algorithms added to combine some fun tones (like running two in one). They are both very close so I would not fret having either over the other.. Cheers - Bahrum

    Which is your favorite out of the REV5, REV7, & SPX90?

    • @BlueHouseSoundStudio
      @BlueHouseSoundStudio  3 года назад +6

      That’s a tough one... I use them for different things. The SPX 90 is one of the warmest Yamahas to me... because of its limited bandwidth and lo if nature. (Even the reverbs and they are great) the Rev 5 and 7 have that amazing air and grain. And yes, not natural! But so what!
      Industrial yes. Magical... I think so... I feel like the revs are Time machines for anyone using drum machines. Super underrated to just brush off for the convenience of plug ins... I always tell people the most convenient thing of all is to just go ahead and sit on your ass and not make music or do anything if you are gonna follow that logic, 👍
      Cheers!

    What's better, rev 5 or 7 ?

    • @BlueHouseSoundStudio
      @BlueHouseSoundStudio  4 года назад

      Tough... Rev 5 Is "Technically" better spec... they are so close, I would say use either! and ask yourself.... is that AMS RMX 16 (that you or I don't own) really that much better for the long grainy type stuff... neither have the lush lexicon sound... either way all these units have more three dimension than any plugin I've tried. Cheers - Bahrum

      Would have to check, or one of us look at the specs on the manual. Noise was never a problem for me on any of these Yamaha balanced units.

      Matt, I got your point :) Yeah, all the DAW und Plugins stuff of today... the youngsters of today don't know any more ;) for my experience of live-audio (19years) the REV7 was really not that common. I own one :) There was a time Michael Brauer, FOH of "Ramstein" had this unit only for snare-reverb, he said in one interview. Happy new year! Friends, be kind
