Northrop Auditorium

We interviewed several Minneapolis musicians in front of historic Cyrus Northrop Memorial Auditorium, which is the north anchor of the main quad at The U (aka The University of Minnesota). The Minnesota Orchestra performed here for over 4 decades before moving to their current, downtown location. The Auditorium originally seated more than 4,800 so as to accommodate the entire student body in the early 1930s, but a 2011 renovation reduced seating to 2,692. The venue still hosts concerts as well as lectures, graduation ceremonies, and other events.
