I own one. My main horn is a Calicchio. I love the sound. The pTrumpet is about the easiest trumpet I've ever played too. I wouldn't compare it to the Calicchio, but it's still a nice horn with a great sound. Great for practice, because I don't need to put it back in the box to protect it. :-)
Just to add something to this. The sound is great. I mean it's got a big sound. It's really easy to blow too. But the valves. The valves are hopeless. I don't mean they stick now and then or are sluggish. The one I have has had double springs put in it that would amount to three times the power of the originals, and it's rare to transition between just two notes without having to stop, and physically pull each valve back up.
You are right. I bought a P trumpet on Amazon and received it today. The tone blew me away. I didn’t expect it to sound the way it did. Even if it doesn’t sound as good as brass, for what it is it is awesome. The valves, however, disappoint me greatly. I’m considering returning it, but I’ll see if a week of playing breaks it in. If it doesn’t, it’s back to Amazon.
you might not believe it but that's the truth that I'm the man to be charge of quality control for pTrumpet's production in China; we contributed lots of hard work on developing this instrument, bring the relevant concept into reality
