G'day Damo, Yes I have a vid on the subject; link below: ruclips.net/video/whAZHaiXeJI/видео.html Basically Metho with a cotton bud and small flat blade screwdriver will do the job. Also keeping the chin strap conditioned helps it's longevity. Hope this helps. Regards Ash.
G'day Glenn, good question. The process used to fit a badge on a peak cap is basically the same as outlined in my vids on placing a badge on a puggaree. I have placed the links below and I will also post some photos of my peak cap in the community tab. You can also use a drill, see vid for that as well. If you use the drill technique make sure you use pilot holes first, with a needle or hole punch. Also works for shoulder boards. In the photos you can see the inside of the cap where I have placed on the clips. In between the clips I have also added two small pieces of felt. This ensures there is no gap and the badge is flush on the exterior of the cap. Hope this helps. Regards Ash. @@Ashapplications thanks for the quick reply. The officers cap I have (khaki), has a nylon lining which I would need to cut somehow to get access to the pins to put the clips on, also there appears to be 2 pieces of plastic in that area , 1 firmly behind the area where the badge goes level with the band, then the back of that is another piece of plastic which extends up to the top of the hat. A bit hard to describe and I haven't been game enough at present to cut the nylon lining to see what exactly I'm dealing with.
@@glenndouglas3663 G'day Glenn, no need to cut the lining. Just line up your badge at the front, make the pilot holes with a needle and carefully press the badge through. The pins should slightly protrude through to the back of the hat. You then just push the nylon lining back on to the pins to make a small hole for the pins to protrude to place the clips on. I have seen some hats that don't use the clips. Which works fine as long as you don't frisbee your hat. Hope this helps. Let me know how you go. Regards Ash.
Any tips on getting the green scunge off that builds up on the chin strap?
