Another great video and I really appreciate your honesty after the fact. We all make poor decisions but only a few people have the guts to talk about them publicly. This is how you learn and gain confidence…
Its hard to just change when you're catching fish but losing them.. I Probably try a deeper jerkbait if losing on crank in my experience.. especially when sunny.
I gained as much knowledge, if not more, from your reasoning skills in the garage as I did on the water footage. That said, I still enjoy being in the boat with you.
Spray scent on your crankbaits, it can sometimes make the fish take the bait a little better. And put these fish in the boat. Had an experience at Lake Erie with blade baits, the fish were just not taking the bait for a hook up. Started using scent and started hooking fish after fish while my partner still couldn't hook up. I finally gave my partner the scent and he started catching them too.
Love all your videos. Made with three most honesty and integrity. Keep em coming in watch till end of all of them . Enjoy Randy as well. Honesty is best always
The catch 15 format is great, especially your analysis of what went good and what you could have done better. Thank you for taking the time to put the video together. Our lakes in Michigan are almost frozen now, your videos are a great way to learn fishing techniques when I can't get out myself. Thanks for all you do!
Love the catch 15 videos enough that I started doing the catch 15 challenge my self. First attempt had a limit with 9lbs hoping to be in the 12+ range next week!
Love the content all of it you have made very smart decisions in your channel with randy and Matt this is best info out there buddy you made me a tourney threat anywhere I go in just 3 years learned so much thanks
i noticed that you like to crank with monofilament line...during colder weather/season, I would go with flouro because the fishes mouth gets harder during colder water. Second I would change is, going with round bend hooks vs ewg
Love this video format!!! Hope that you keep this up. Both the pre trip video and the analysis of the day are great. Analyzing changes that I need to make are usually my biggest challenge.
Great video Jonny! I have been watching your videos for a long time and subscribed for a few years and it really is incredible how your videos, their editing and production have evolved. I think they are some of the best done out there. Keep up the great work.
Ya know it's good to see you don't get to that 15 pound limit every time. I think this may be the first one I've seen where you didn't hit 15 pounds. I'm not wishing you not to do well but it's sure good to see you're human as well. Haha. Love the content/videos and I always learn something new.
Sometimes round bend hooks or short shank round bend hooks can have better landing ratio than EWG trebles. Another crankbait to consider throwing with the spinning rod is a Shad Rap.
Good video Johnny. Man I’ll tell you one thing I’ve experienced, and don’t really know why. But, with those Denali attax series rods I can hook up good on long distance casts dragging a big jig or something, but flipping up close short distances I have lost numerous quality fish up close flipping with those rods. I can’t seem to get a good hookup with those rods flipping.
You know, I was sitting here, thinking "Jerkbait?", then you mentioned it. But, as usual, it's easier to come up with a possible good answer, a day later, after it's too late. Happens to me, all the time.
Awesome video Jonny. My only question is why you didn’t graph around first looking for baitfish and fish? Is because the cover you were targeting was too shallow? Thanks!!!
As you said, the cover I was targeting was too shallow. If I graphed it before fishing it, I was afraid I would spook the fish. If I had a day of practice, I would definitely graph everything and only fish the best targets. I would have also probably found more targets as well. However, without practice time and only 8 hours to fish, I have found it's more efficient to just fish offshore cover in 4 - 8ft of water. This assumes you know where everything is already and I did through my Google Earth prep. If I didn't know where the targets were, I would have been fishing differently.
The lead head on a skip will hit the dock first. (think about it, the pinchers and skirt will drag the bait back around) That jig had to be bent before you skipped it. Probably stepped on it, I do it all the time. Don't believe me? Get a cheap new jig and go skip it into a bridge pillar. The head will dent, the hook will be unaffected.
Nice video! Hope we can do business together! Let me know if you are interested in doing review of our Japanese baits such as Megabass, Jackall, Imakatsu etc. .
Early winter?? 65 degrees??? LOL.....boy, are you guys spoiled....Early winter where I am in the NorthEast, water temps are usually in low 40s, to upper 30s...
Really like this format. Talking through the thought process is super helpful

Your analytical approach is awesome. Thanks!
I have done the same. Analysis is part of the learning process
It’s an ongoing continual learning process. That’s what makes it fun for me. The challenge is the thrill for me. Learning from success & mistakes.
Really enjoy hearing your analysis of the day & what you should have or might have done differently.
Love all your videos. Made with three most honesty and integrity. Keep em coming in watch till end of all of them . Enjoy Randy as well. Honesty is best always
Great tips brother! God is good! Beautiful lake. God bless!
Thanks for an honest and informative video

Great stuff again! Ever the professional, you learn from your mistakes instead of making excuses
Always learning with your videos man keep it up. I even keep a screen shot of a few of your charts on my phone 👍

I like this style of video. It shows the true reality of fishing. Thanks for sharing.
Great job Jonny! I like the fact that you show the tough trips as well as the easy ones. Great tips!

Awesome video dude.i love this style of video. I always learn so much
Shad rap or flat side balsa crank is pretty hard to beat when they nipping at the bait.
Enjoyed the vid! Very in depth
Great video as always!
I saw your video last Thursday it made me go out to hickory creek and caught a bunch of spots on one of those spots you went to. Thanks for sharing
Sweet., Jerk.., that was my first thought..
always hits ya when ya get home!

First! huge fan Johnny been following for years!
Love your videos Johnny
Ever throw a rockcrawler55 might have been the profile? Great video! Love the format for this catch 15.
Dang that vid smacked dude fishing season is done here guess I will just have to watch all your videos to compromise 😂
I'm here my Friend I can't until I get the chance to go out and catch some fish with you . Great knowledge and Videos 💪🏼💜
That video was super helpful. Is there a reason you didn’t include slow rolling a heave spinner bait?
Sometimes round bend hooks or short shank round bend hooks can have better landing ratio than EWG trebles. Another crankbait to consider throwing with the spinning rod is a Shad Rap.
Nice video Johnny😁 keep it coming. Randy who?😜😜😜
Fish on my friends 🎣
I do the same thing sometimes in tournament, I get caught up in the moment, instead of fishing the moment lol
sharpen your hooks? Add a trailer hook (not often used with a crank bait, I know)?
Thanks.
Rapala DT 8 could have worked.
I would have tried an lipless crankbait if short strike on the crankbait.
Not easy when in stress.
Great job! Keep up the good work and quality content!
Great Info
When I’m struggling I forget every bait and technique I’ve ever learned
After you reach over 50 of yrs fishing I've found that sometimes it's just not your day....don't be so hard on yourself.....lol....keep it up
Really enjoyed this video. A lot of help hearing your thought process on your day on the water.
I am trying so hard to start fishing off shore but it is super hard to commit when I am not totally sure what I am doing. Thanks for all the tips.
Great video and modest. I can't fish (nor hunt) unless I am hungry. If I eat well before hand, my senses aren't tuned in enough and I lose my focus.
This is my biggest problem while on the water. Recalling all the information from your videos.
Nice work bud. Liked and sub
Your videos are always informative and I always learn something.
What is that blue rod at 4:30?
Is that a jenko gambler rod? I have the dcvr and love my 2
Nah Johnny Boy, you didn’t need to change baits. You just needed to stop Jinxing yourself with the “got Em”! 😜
Good video Johnny. Man I’ll tell you one thing I’ve experienced, and don’t really know why. I miss these

Why not a swim bait? Or a swim jig?
Awesome video Jonny. My only question is why you didn’t graph around first looking for baitfish and fish? Is because the cover you were targeting was too shallow? Thanks!!!

Dope!
Another great video... Jonny do you ever plan on upgrading the ol Triton?
Maybe after another 1,000 hours on the engine
@@FishtheMoment pretty good advertising for Mercury lol
Sounds like you needed to try Steffin's soft swivel to avoid throwing baits.
Maybe stiffer rod to sink those hooks better
Quality bite? I'll take any bite!

Johnny is the Ben Shapiro of bass fishing , love all the advice too, lol just joking about Ben
Wow look how low the water is in that lake , all the cover for the fish is up on the bank , droughts are horrible
i think sometimes I lose fish this time of year because fish's mouths become tougher
I hate that “if only I had” thoughts on the drive home from the lake.
Almost every day after fishing driving home lol.
Love this $#!%
As long as you learn something from the bad days on the water you will eventually have fewer bad days. At least that’s what I tell myself.
If it were that easy Randy would be top ten instead of top 100 js
Nice video!
Hope we can do business together!

"I'm not much of a gambler" fishes bass tournaments... bass fishermen, the most in denial gambling addicts 🤣
