I was putting a remote start in a 2009 Caravan. This video was a blessing to getting to the WCM to attach the harness.

very helpful..our van had the 'wiggle key to start...sometimes' issue, bought a used WIN/key combo off ebay $112...using your vid, done in 20 minutes...no 'reprogramming' needed..van starts first time now.
How did it not need reprogramming? I thought it has to be programmed with the code & vin. Did you have to give your vin # to the seller.
Your video was extremely helpful. I was able to replace the ignition switch very quickly. I had to remove more than expected when I started but it was fairly straight forward. I would suggest a list of needed tools. I ended up having to pause and got to the tool box a couple of times. Thanks again for the video.
Excellent video easy to understand. Once again I'm 65 years old and I grew up on 60s and 70s Pontiacs where in ignition was simply a fucking key.
Cool channel, coming from another chrysler tech! You can slip the WCM out from under the cluster trim assembly without removing it. Remove the two screws above the radio, lift up that trim. Remove the upper screws holding the radio/hvac center bezel. Pull back on the bezel, remove the 1 hidden screw behind it. Remove the IP end cap and the T20 screw. Pull down the column cover, and remove the 3 lower cluster trim screws. Lift up on the trim assembly and lift it over the top of the cluster, now the lower wcm screw/connector/antenna can be reached. The upper screw can be reached with a long extension through the fobik hole in the trim assembly. R03 recalls take about 10min this way.

I was wondeeing if this was the part defective if having trouble with starting van like momentary power to starter. Often multiple turns to start van. Would this be warranty replacement if done as recall 8 months ago??

This is the correct way of removing WCM, I wish I have seen it before toke mine out and made holes in the dash.
Luckily its not the later version vans.....the entire dash "skin" has to be removed to access it if you ever have to.

I think I have a customer with this problem in a 2009 T & C. it has had an intermittent start problem for a while. Unfortunately, I don't have a SKIM reader to get the 4 digit code. So It would be a waste of time for me to replace the WCM module as the vehicle would be stuck in his driveway.
I would have them make sure that its not related to the trans. When it could start.....have them move the shifter to neutral and then see if it will and if still no change....move it back to park and try again. I have seen trans range sensors cause this issue so its something to keep in mind. Thanks for watching Marc and make sure to subscribe.

Why do they call it a wireless control module when it has wires?
I am glad that isn't my problem but I don't exactly know what the problem is? My shifter keeps getting stuck in reverse. It has been sitting up for a few months and now it's acting like a old man.

Can the wcm be repaired? Mine wont start unless you turn and push the key.
Can you program a used wcn to these vehicles, I have the pin and access to an autel.

I have the ScanTool to do the Programming but its Asking Me for the 4 Digit Code. So Only The Dealer Has it?? What I just call them up to Say that I Need the 4 Digit Code For The WIN? I have gotten part #'s from Dealers before.. But, I Can't Imagine them Being So Cooperative in giving the WIN code to Me... ?? What You say I do Please??
I brought my 2010 Town and country to the dealer to to this job as a part of a recall and it’s been sitting in their lot for a week now. They’re giving me some bull every time I go in to inquire about the progress. Long story short they claim the part the had put on initially was faulty and they can’t put the old one back on again. They’re waiting for Chrysler to approve a second replacement part and it’s on their hand. They can’t put in another brand new unit that I offered to purchase because Chrysler has to approve it as a VIN specific to my van. Do you think they’re being honest or just lying to cover their incompetency?

Yahhhh NO. Im taking my buzzy tool and cutting that panel. They I’ll glue it back and put a nice piece of rubber molding where I cut. 3 min replacement tops. It ain’t no Cadillac at this point.
I have been having issues with sliding doors and rear door opening and closing and locks locking and unlocking as well as the ignition key not wanting to release correctly. The doors open and close and locks keep operating and run the battery dead. Am guessing the wcm is the problem. Was going to get new fobs thinking they were having problems causing the van doors and locks to go nuts. Sucks that it will end up a dealer repair, but better than wasting money, still having the issue after getting new fobs and having them reprogrammed then needing it done again when wcm gets replaced and the new fobs I was going to buy would be no good. Saving a few hundred dollars right there.

Great vid. I watched it to get a sense of how to get at the WCM, rather than to replace it. I want to install an aftermarket remote start and need to get to the WCM connector without actually removing the part. How much of the disassembly you did do you think is needed just to get a hand into where the connector is?

NAPA Wes Florida.....it has a nice ring to it each time I say it lol. My wife would surely love that. Appreciate the feedback on the video. As far as that repair.....it was actually a recall. I have replaced some that weren't part of a recall and usually was due to the module not recognizing the keys or the module (wcm) being none-responsive.
I have one in my shop, 2011. It starts and shuts down after 1 second a couple of times then goes into crank no start. Cycle the key 3 times, van starts ???? NO CODES. I thinking the WIN module but I don't want to jump to any conclusions. Fuel pressure seems good. It's just tough to tell with one second of diag. time. Thanks!!
Thats the usually scenerio such as when you have a bad key....2 starts and stalls and then after the 3rd...nothing. If you shot me the VIN to david@motorcitymechanic.com and I will do some further checking.

The VIN doesnt show to have the recall I was thinking of. Not sure if your not getting any codes related to the issue due to the scanner that your using.....can it access all the modules such as the WCM? If it was a key issue I would expect a "invalid skim key" code to be set.

Wow wow wow. God forbid they just put a little panel there so you can go directly to it. 😢 that's fucked up. Almost reminds me of replacing the heater core in my 92 4Runner it took 8 hours and you have to tear out the whole dash😮

Hi, great vid. My issue is that more often than not, the starter will stay engaged after engine running for a few seconds. its random. Will do it with the key fob in the wcm or remote start. I have replaced starter with a new one, tried multiple relays under hood, and even tried the other fob. Same issue. Wcm was replace under recall several years ago. Any ideas? This has started since the recall but is getting worse.

We got a 2010 dodge caravan 3.4 and it ran into a deer the fender was messed up only got that replaced it's been sitting for a yr pr more drove it this winter now it won't stay started also someone tool gas from it the battery died trying to start it up it starts but won't stay started put new plugs on jt and wires sounded better but quit again any info on it would be appreciated ty I lobe ypur videos my bf is a mechanic to but he's stumped
With the type of issues your having it’s one of those things that I would have to see and check in person. There are tooooo many possible causes for me to offer some help as far as to what to check next. Somethings I can but this falls outside that area.
I got a 2008 dodge grand caravan, the car starts just fine but after it warms up it stalls and the starter starts to crank rear slow, I think the starter keeps running the whole time and getting hot, after let it sit for a while its starts back up again, do you think the wcm might be staying in the on position and keeping the starter running ?
Might a 2014 be covered in this recall?

Dose this work if the key is stuck?? My key wont come out unless I pull the ignition fuse under the hood. Can this fix that issue or could it be something els
Most times it is the cause for the key not coming out. I recommend having it checked for codes first before having it repaired. Now it will take a secret 4 digit code to make everything work and to program the keys so its not a DIY repair. Thanks for asking, sorry for the delay, and make sure to subscribe.

Yea it was the shift locking selenoid. One the the plastic pieces broke and needed to be replaced

Great video on the replacing the win module but what if I just want to replace the keyless entry antenna ? Do I still need to take the whole dash off ?
I looked thru the service info and there is no mention of a seperate antenna for keyless entry for the years mentioned in the video.....2008-2010
Turns out antenna is only required for vehicles with remote start. My biggest confusion is why my remote lock/unlock will not work but I can still start and drive the car
The key has two parts.....the buttons and the security portion that gets inserted into to the igntion switch. That portion doesnt require a battery to work while the button portion does. The first step is to have the key tested for signal when the button is depressed. If not signal then changing the battery is the fist step and if still having issues...the remote will need to be replaced.
Hi I just bought a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 4.0. bought it 12 days ago within 3 days the key fob gets stuck on accessory after putting it in park and could not pull the key fob unless we let it sit for a few minutes until we heard a click. Then it started a couple of days after that started that the key would get stuck onstart mode and run the starter. I could shut it off and restart it and it wouldn't do it again. Now when I start it it runs like really rough at 1 RPM to 1/2 RPM back and forth takes a few seconds to go up to 1 rpm. And some times takes like four tries to even get it started. It turns over just doesn't start till 4th or 5th time. All in the 12 days of owning this van. Any ideas?

You can save $ by replacing it yourself but just make sure you have a way to get it to the dealer (trailer, tow truck)

I been wondering what radio i can change mine to that as a gps but keep my steering control for the radio and bluetooth ad i got the same radio as this one in the video
They make a wiring kit for that. You can buy it on amazon for about $40. It hooks to the wires from the old radio. You can use any 7" inch double din radio. I bought an Android 6.0 off eBay. Everything works good with no problems after 2 years.
