Been a Focusrite fan for YEARS and the sound on the PreSonus Quantum ES 2 USB-C Audio Interface was clear as all! This has been a great review and helped my decision on which to go with.
You pointed out that the Presonus has a second usb-c connector for power... the scarlett 2i2 has that too. Its labeled "5V DC" and you showed it into the camera... important if you want to use it standalone without a computer connection as i do.
That was an awesome video. You have great personality and enthusiasm, and well educated and easy to understand. Thanks for posting. I liked and subscribed. Also liked how u used the word dope. Makes it more personal,
The Presonus had a bit more low-mids than the Focusrite which could be interpreted as warmer. The high end of both sounded the same to me. Both are very workable sounds for laying down tracks.
I'm slightly dissapointed that we do not have middle sized HD... It's either small or the large one... Hope that they will come with at least one with "medium amount" of ins and out.
good video mate. Actually one of the main characteristics of the scarlett is the level of detail you can notice in the audio, in pair with the Clarett. I doubt the presonus can get close to the scarlett in that area. Cheers
Good review and makes me happy I have the Focusrite. One feedback I have is to avoid shaking the products when showing a close up of the product especially the buttons. You can also add b-shots showing closeups.
Super helpful video, thanks! 🙏 I'm picking up the Presonus tomorrow - especially since they are offering the 6 months of their + subscription, as I'm using Studio One 7 now.
The Focusrite does work with phones and tablets, it just takes some doing. You have to power it with a powered USB hub. One thing I have learned about the Focusrites is that, irrespective of your opinion of their performance vs price, They are absolute tanks. At least the 2nd generation was. I can't really speak to the 3rd and 4th gen, but I know that mine has been dropped down stairs a FEW times and my wife even threw it once. Still works fine.
I’m having a hard time accepting differences if it’s two different performances for recording, maybe use some pre looper for 1 single performance to give an apples to apples difference. I can tell some difference but not enough that gain may change to be fair also and skew audio differences. Great explanation of features and the single knob does all seems like it can wear quicker as an opinion but it will probably be fine.
That presonus is better than that scarlett i have from scarlett version one to 3 and when i get the studio 68 it was leagues ahead so yeah ill be getting the quantum es4 for sure
Julian Krause just reviewed the Quantum and the Scarlet 2i2 4th gen is always on top, better everything, properly data analysed. The quantum has some issues. Good video though man.
I listened with my headphones and I think the two interfaces are awesome, but there's a unique cushion of warm smooth ambience with the vocals from the quantum which might be more appropriate with certain genres of music
Is it loud? I have a personus 24c and it it’s too quiet for what I need. I’m thinking about upgrading to the quantum, but I’m tired of bottlenecking my setup and I need a definite yes to this from someone. All I want to do is record rap vocals and have enough gain to sound loud. I’m using a Rode NT1 5th gen for input.
Let me know if im trippin 😂 not at all brotha. The 2i2 always sounded a lil harsh and brittle. I can almost always tell when a song was made on those things, it definitely has a distinct sound to it. That presonus is impressive for the price.
Hey Mr. Wavy, if at all possible could you do a review like this with the es2 and the hd. I sold my studio up north for money to move down south. I’m going crazy without a tracking studio. I record in studio one and presonus dropped these right in time. I wondering what’s the difference in sound quality between the two. If you can brotha… if you can 😅 #WavyTheMan
Their hand and hand. You also pay for what you get and the quantum does cost more. The id4 does have Amazing preamps but the quantum lineup, the preamps are just as amazing
Focusrite is always a no go when you hit a certain experience. For a 2 in interface, that is pretty basic, 200$ is a lot. The autogain feature should not be that much highlighted, because beginners are supposed to learn by time how to operate the pre amp to get the signal to be far from the noise floor and away from the clipping area. The PreSonus card has better pre amp. It justifies more the price, compared to focusrite. But as an advise for everyone that reads this comment, TRY to buy something that will stick with you for a longer period of time. I know that 200$ is a lot for some beginners as I was there, but by buying a card for 200-230$, that once you understand the way audio works, will be replaced with another card that will have better conversion and so on. If you are an artist, that just makes demos of their song, to get an idea, sketch over it to go later to a studio and do the final version, then yes, those two cards are ideal for this purpose. As for a beginner audio engineer, try as much to get a deal on some older good stuff from the used marketplace. If research is done, 200$ in the used marketplace can bring more value than the new stuff. Great video demoing the two cards!
@@jonbubble9721 So there are two options that stand out the crowd with different pro's attached to them. The first is RME Babyface Pro FS (this card has very good conversion, rock solid drivers, long term support) The second is the UAD Apollo Twin X (This card offers some features such as unison preamp (modeling mic pre's, which for some people is a big thing), UAD's dsp for plugins, the conversion is pretty good) I'd say for someone that just wants a clean and no modeling of amps and stuff, RME is the winner in this case.
@@zandycookitup Thanks for the reply. Considering I make electronic music with Ableton and use ollo s5x headphones, so latency wouldn't be a problem. are you still thinking about the cards you recommended? Or could you recommend me some intermediate ones that are not so high priced?
@@jonbubble9721 In this case I'd stick with the RME one, since has great converters so daw's audio reproduction won't be harmed. Longevity and quality is a thing for this card.
I would like to hear those comparisons again with focus right air on because that’s an option. Is there fair to use it. Also focus rite 4i4 and up has the red converters in them now I don’t know why the solo and the 2i2 don’t that sucks….
The presonus studio 24c was already killing the focus right . I been watching hella reviews and I thought to switch to the audient then BOOM! Presonus drop the quantum 🤦♂️😭😭😭
I think presonus hit a home run with this. Not only does it sound great but it looks great and is super functional for a desktop setup. I'm sold!
Been a Focusrite fan for YEARS and the sound on the PreSonus Quantum ES 2 USB-C Audio Interface was clear as all! This has been a great review and helped my decision on which to go with.
The ES4 helped me level up to súper Saiyan. The auto gain was gamechanging for me personally.
3:44 for reference, the 2i2 4th gen also has an aux power usb c port. It just has a cover on it which I’m guessing you didn’t notice.
Great video, I’ve owned the 2i2 and am now looking to get the presonus and you’ve made me feel more confident in my choice!
can you do a review on the HD2?
You pointed out that the Presonus has a second usb-c connector for power... the scarlett 2i2 has that too. Its labeled "5V DC" and you showed it into the camera... important if you want to use it standalone without a computer connection as i do.
Exactly
The video we all wanted to see. The es2 is a monster!
Can you review the SSL 2 + vs presonus quantum es 4
Presonus sounds warm and louder that focusrite
And clearer
Was about to buy that one too
Thank you for your time spent on this. Very helpful.

Time for Quantum HD2 vs Apollo Solo
I'm slightly dissapointed that we do not have middle sized HD...
It's either small or the large one... Hope that they will come with at least one with "medium amount" of ins and out.
I've been working with the Focusrite for years. Looking into the quantum ES4
good video mate.

I love focusrite all day 🔥🔥🔥💯

Hey wavy......Audient id14 vs presonus es2 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Put the preamps of the Presonus into the Scarlet’s chassi and bang an amazing interface
Presonus-clarity, detail, fuller though. The openness isn't harsh. more dimension in the sound. Does it handle the transients better?
Great comparison and detailed review! I love my new Quantum ES4!
that's the one I"m getting next payday. Glad you love it, I'm more confident that I will too,
Oh that’s awesome!
I love the presonus better for some reason !!
Greatest love story 🫡✨🔥
Im in the honeymoon phase. She's s keeper
I’m glad you did this review 💪🏾
I would like to see a comparison to the Quantum HD series.
I’m having a hard time accepting differences if it’s two different performances for recording, maybe use some pre looper for 1 single performance to give an apples to apples difference. This was so helpful, I'm an utter novice with interfaces.
Rupert Neve - original founder of Focusrite, is Dope!🔥 Easy to use with great preamps.
I agree, the Presonus converters seem to capture more details in the transients and harmonics.
they are not as good as the Scalett 4th gen anyways. Check Julian Krause review
I listened with my headphones and I think the two interfaces are awesome, but there's a unique cushion of warm smooth ambience with the vocals from the quantum which might be more appropriate with certain genres of music
The vocals will also always sound different with different takes. So I don't think you can judge it by this recording.

Wouldn’t say beginner cause can give u studio quality
Where can i buy pro tools studio Perpetual ? All i can find is subscription
I think you’d have to buy an older version
My bad you can get it on sweetwater but that shit is like 1500
Can you connect 2 sets of monitors to it
Presonus has a weird electrical noise coming out of the headphone outs. I had to send mine back.
I agree 100 percent
Hmmm I knew I wasnt tripping I might just have to
cool video. may have to check out the quantum es2 or es4. yep.
Let me know if im trippin 😂 not at all brotha. The 2i2 always sounded a lil harsh and brittle. I can almost always tell when a song was made on those things, it definitely has a distinct sound to it. That presonus is impressive for the price.
Can. U compare presonus with Apollo twin mk2 ?
The Quantum definitely had better tone and dynamics. Very nice .
Are your headphones still available for purchase? I’ve been trying to order a pair but haven’t seen them.
wondering this also, don't see them on his website anymore.
They sound the same to me but I use scarlet myself so I don’t wanna sound like I’m just talking but I feel they sound the same

Get HD2 thats the one I got and its good bro
@@3jahel7 👍🏾
Can you review the HD2 as well.
that es4 that what I’m getting presonus
No cap it the focusrite killer
Hey what’s up bro how are you much love
PreSonus got this one I believe.
Is Quantum better than Audient?
Their hand and hand. You also pay for what you get and the quantum does cost more. The id4 does have Amazing preamps but the quantum lineup, the preamps are just as amazing
Waiting for Audient vs Presonus 😅
The Quantum ES2 sounds more natural to me.
I'd day, yeah, the Presonus sounded less digital.
Worst mistake I made going from Prsonus to Focusrite. Now I'm back to Presonus.
Just went from focusrite to presonus!!!
Welcome back!
No one has addressed the direct monitoring feature yet. I don’t know if quantum has it.
Hello! With Universal Control (UC), you're able to monitor signal into your Quantum directly!
You forgot to tell that after the six months you get a lifetime license of studio one artist
Focusrite 4th gen works on iPhone 👍🏼
Presonus doesn’t?

And which one would you recommend based on your comment? Not the ones in the video, but the ones you are referring to at a higher level.
