  • This is my video of Swiss Family Treehouse from my first ever trip to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. This video features an extended, 13 minute walk thru of this classic attraction. I spent 4 minutes (A lot of extra time) inside the living room so I could capture a lot of details and two full loops of the iconic original version of the Swisskapolkia. This version of Swiss Family Treehouse opened with the park in 1971. Unlike most other opening day Magic Kingdom attractions in 2024, this one remains very much the same as it was in 1971. This means that in addition to still being a great & charming walk thru that still holds up well today, it's also a wonderful time capsule to the early years of not only Magic Kingdom, but also Disneyland. All major scenes in this version of the Treehouse are extremely close replicas of ones from the original version of Swiss Family Treehouse that operated at Disneyland from 1962-1999. The Swisskapolkia always played at Magic Kingdom is also the exact same audio used at Disneyland from 1962-1999, and the waterwheel is also a clone. The things that differentiated this one were being surrounded by a tropical river (And the Swan Boats from 1973-83), entering and exiting from bridges that fit well in Adventureland, and that many scenes, despite being very similar to the DL version, are presented in a different order. Despite using the exact same music, there is one small difference between the Disneyland Swisskapolkia (1962-99) and the Magic Kingdom one (1971-present). This is that the Magic Kingdom one has three seconds of silence between the end and beginning of each loop of the song, whereas Disneyland did not. This is a weird change that I assume was because in the story, this music comes from this Band Organ. Many Band Organs typically have a few seconds between each audio loop. In the mid-late 1990's, Disneyland fell under hard times with cost cutting president Paul Pressler. It's been confirmed by Tony Baxter that Pressler seriously wanted to remove the DL Treehouse entirely for a gift shop. But Tony Baxter saw the then-new Tarzan film in production and decided that retheming it to cross promote the film could be a way to save the Treehouse. Pressler gave Baxter a very limited budget and Tarzan's Treehouse replaced the Disneyland original in 1999. Due to the limited budget, it didn't make as many fans & after the first several years it wasn't very popular. In 2021 Tarzan's Treehouse closed and in 2022 the Adventureland Treehouse was revealed, which opened in Nov 2023. Adventureland Treehouse is a beautiful modern take on the classic Swiss Family Treehouse with a new but similar rendition of Swisskapolkia, waterwheel, audio animatronics, and an original story not involving movie characters (Extremely rare in modern Disney attractions). I really love both the new Treehouse at Disneyland and the classic one at Walt Disney World. I really hope Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Paris all keep some iteration of their Treehouses intact forever. They are part of the DNA of Adventureland and the parks as a whole, and I can't imagine them without it. I am also glad that Walt Disney World has kept their original Swiss Family Treehouse intact to this day so that I and other members of Generation Z can experience this piece of the early years of Walt Disney World Disneyland. I hope you enjoy it!
I do not own any audio used in this video. All music is owned by Disney. Video taken by me. Feel free to use my video in your own content if you want to.
