Growing up in the Philadelphia area in the '50's, jitterbugging was the name of our dancing, per American Bandstand. Frankly, there were two things, as a guy in my circles, that were important...sports and being able to dance with your girlfriend. I had never heard of shagging. But having lived in southeastern NC for 23 years, I've come to appreciate this very cool way of dancing, and the beach music that's so much a part of it. I just loved seeing these young folks shagging to real music.
Being from Virginia, I am very appreciative of the technique and coordination involved in shagging. If one is from the South, as soon as we are dancing we know the shag. It is a fantastically fun form of dancing! Kudos to all those who do it so very well. Thank you for this post.
This is one of the first videos of Shag dancing I saw but have watched alot of it since. I want to learn how to dance like this. What I am curious about if anyone knows is who all in this video is still dancing in competition? I recognize Brennar but not sure about anyone else in it. Is hos partner Autumn in this group also?
Look at these young folks in the beginning! They are itching to go! Mr. D.J., You are doing a great job! Now, Please Pause! Nothing Personal! Let,m go!!!!!! I hope they received a few bucks! If, I were there, I would have thrown at least a $50.00 bill on the floor. Mr. D.J, Sorry, I.ll by you a brew! OK! THANKS!
