Thanks for this! My dad just dug his T50 out to give to me for fun! I'm a Sony Alpha hobbyist, trying to get into making money doing photography but having this should be fun and make me appreciate mirrorless technology!
Thank you for this video! My uncle recently died and I was given his T50 as I’m the artist in the family. I learned on a digital in college and was hoping to give my uncle’s camera a new life! I got my first roll loaded thanks to you and will be doing exactly what you suggested to learn the finer points of this camera. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video! I brought one from the op shop and The battery door was missing, but after your advice I quickly whipped up a tinfoil door and the happy battery sound came on and I cheered! You make the world of film photography seem approachable and exciting so thank you sir :)
Great video, the ultimate point and shoot? Takes all the FD lenses, love mine, just focus, compose and shoot. Meter/program very accurate. Battery doors are an issue but rather than use tape I screw a flash bracket to the tripod mount to hold the old door in. A bit of a pain as you have to remove the bracket to get access to the rewind button but it's pretty secure whilst shooting.
Hi Andrew, great description as a point and shoot with interchangeable lenses, great value and a good starter camera, maybe add a T70 as skill grows, hope all is well....

My dad found his old t50 in our basement in some random carboard box, sadly something with the shutter is stuck however so it doesnt work, we even bought some film. But it is still very pretty, its lying on my desk next to me, I am planning on buying another one from ebay because of how cheap they are now, having it repaired would be a waste of money.
Hi, thanks for sharing, still a very popular camera, shame about the shutter but you are correct, buying another makes more sense, any issues please feel free to come back to me...
Hi, thanks for your kind words, I collected the cameras and a lot of other gear over the past forty years, I do still have a wishlist and regularly buy more, very rarely do I sell any, kind of like a private collection.....
So would you recommend keeping the aperture ring set to "A" with this camera. Because I had it set to A and a lot of pictures came out really overexposed and only a few were exposed correctly.
Hi, this camera uses the FD mount, so any lens, either from Canon or third party manufacturers should work, I personally use Canon lenses, the 50mm standard lens, especially the F1.4 are really nice, like everything they are not the bargain they used to be, however lenses are always a good investment, they keep their value far better than camera bodies, hope this helps...
Hello! I just got one of these from a thrift store. The camera seems to be on good condition but once I put the batteries (no film yet) and "took" a photo, a weird sound came from the camera (as if it is trying to push the film) then several "beeps" as the ones if you want to check on how's the battery. Do you think the camera is not working? Or do you think I need to put a film to find out if the camera manages to run the film? Thank you!
Hi, open the back and then trip the shutter and watch the take up spool on the right, it should move, then try loading a film and see what happens, remember to take up the slack with the rewind crank so can confirm that the film is being advanced, I can't remember if it is beeping because you closed the back with no film, it could be a warning that the camera is empty, please feel free to come back to me if you are still having issues....
Hey, I have the same problem. putting the film inside didn't help. when it is "program" setting, nothing happens when you press the button, only this sound is heard
Hi, the corrosion is caused by leaking batteries, the camera uses AA ones and they are very prone to leaking, expanding is also quite common and splits the battery outer, again causing leakage, flashguns are another common device that uses AA batteries and are frequently seen on eBay For whatever reason the owner did not remove them and the camera sat for possibly decades, often forgotten.....can be a bargain to buy but probably best avoided....
I need help with turning the setting dial (self, program, L) I can’t tell if it’s stuck or not, I’ve tried to change it by turning it but it won’t move. To be fair I haven’t used it in years does it by any chance have a lock ?
Hi, looking in the manual it does say not to use nicad batteries but no mention of NiMH ones as they weren't around then, suppliers are listing them for the T50 though, my advice, by all means try but at your own risk, sorry but an interesting question!
Hi, unfortunately no, this is an FD mount camera and is not compatible with EF mount lenses, the change back in 1987 made a lot of canon users very angry, me included!
My T50 that I found has a significant crack and piece of plastic missing above the lens right under the “canon t50 logo” will this make it not work? There was electrical tape covering it lol The crack is on the body not the lens
Hi, ISO 400 film has become a sort of standard, but if you are living in a really sunny country then ISO 200 will be fine, any problems please feel free to come back to me and enjoy 😀
hi, i just bought this camera today at a thrift shop. when i opened the battery port there was one battery stuck… it had a tiny bit of filth on top of it, i don’t know if the battery leaked or is just stuck. is there any way i can get it out?
Hi, gently manipulate it and move it about, a bit of vinegar I find helps loosen them up, and can be used on a cotton bud to clean the contacts, gently does it.....
this happened to me. both batteries were rusted. It took some time but I got them out by gaging space around them with tweezers and pulled them out. hope this helps!
Thank for made this video. I'm looking for Canon T50 manual video. The reason why is my father gave me this camera but i have no idea how to use this camera. I appreciate your help.🥹

Awesome video!! my battery door broke off so this helped me! got my foil, cardboard and tape :)

Thank you for this video, well explained, my grandpa just gave me this same camera and I was trying to figure it out how to use it now I know haha :)
Hi, thanks for your kind words, I hope you enjoy using it, any problems please feel free to come back to me....
Walgreens in Las Vegas and the Henderson area have 1 hour photo developing
Hi, thanks, handy to know 😁
had one of these too, traded in a AV-1 for it, had it for 2 years and exchanged it for a T90

Found one today I hope there is film in it. I thing the last time it was used was in 1990. Need to get it open so im here
Hi, nice find, have you managed to open it, did you rewind the film first?
Thanks a lot, my dad just gave me the same camera.
I now know how do it work
Hi, I hope you enjoy it, any problems please come back to me, always here to help....
Gracias por el vídeo!!
Are the cameras you review all part of a collection or do you buy and sell?
Looking forward to more videos.
Hi, thanks for your kind words, I collected the cameras and a lot of other gear over the past forty years, I do still have a wishlist and regularly buy more, very rarely do I sell any, kind of like a private collection.....
Great video very clear now i can use it my canon t50
Hi and thanks, hope you enjoy...
Drug stores like Wallgreens still have kodak 400
So would you recommend keeping the aperture ring set to "A" with this camera. Because I had it set to A and a lot of pictures came out really overexposed and only a few were exposed correctly.
If thats the case then it would be best to adjust it to what you need if everything is working well
Hi, sounds like the ISO was not set or the camera has an issue, unfortunately this model only has the program mode....
My t50 will not change to the A setting on the lens what should I do about that
Hi, there is a lock button on the lens, you may have to keep pressure on it whilst turning the aperture ring to the A symbol...
mine keeps flashing p and it has enough light so its confusiong me.
Thanks so much!
Great video thanks 👍
Thank you so much for this video!
I did want to ask which Lenses you are using here

How do you know what the speed of your film is?
the place where the film goes it wony open i think its jammed or something how do i fix that
I was just given one by a relative and the camera does not want to take pics what could be the issue

This was extremely useful, thank you!
I have seen a lot of these T-50’s with battery compartment corrosion on eBay. Is that a common problem with this camera?

Do you happen to know if it's okay to use rechargeable NiMH AA batteries with this camera?
Hi, looking in the manual it does say not to use nicad batteries but no mention of NiMH ones as they weren't around then, suppliers are listing them for the T50 though, my advice, by all means try but at your own risk, sorry but an interesting question!

Can I use a new Canon EF mount 50mm lense on this camera?
