My Dad was a professional dancer and therefore I learned the foxtrot also. If you learned with the slow slow first, it was easier to go into turns…just a matter of how you learned and later taught others. I give anyone that asks me the choice but I explain my reasoning for my choice and let them try both…8 out of 10 find it easier for the slow slow step first even going into the turns…just a difference in teaching style
I can see how going from a dead stop to moving could be easier with the slows first. However… beyond that brief moment, starting with the quicks is just how the dance actually works. There’s nothing wrong with starting with the slows for sure. It’s basically just skipping the beginning and doing half a basic. It’s a 6 count dance to a 4 count song anyway lol
I may not know what I am doing, but, this was so helpful to us both getting this accomplished. Thank you so much!

Please gimme your thoughts on the lady doing chaine's instead of pivots on either the 1 or the 2 counting it 123 5 as this is what I was taught to do years ago. It is clear that they both work, but is one better than the other in your opinion? Thanks!
Love this question too. I answered another one of your questions on another video and this answer will be similar.
We choose pivots anytime she is turning and chaines anytime we turn in tandem. Again, not right or wrong as there are some really great dancers who agree and some that disagree.
The answer comes down to WHY. We choose pivots as we find them to be the most balanced, controlled, and we can cover more ground down the dance floor as each weight change is progressive.
Some great dancers preach “always chaines.” The explanation is that chaines are “faster”. We don’t believe that to be true at all. Chaines do “appear” faster due to the contrast that you can create... but that is simply an illusion with no basis in fact.
We choose chaines when we are both turning (in tandem) as most tandem turns just work better with chaines.
Again the answer is that there’s no right or wrong. Only opinions. Just base your opinion on a “why” and you’re golden.

The lead happens with every place you are connected with your partner. That includes the leader's left hand, right hand, right arm, and right shoulder.
I would like to see a first person point of view from the male perspective. The lessons are great but facing us makes everything in reverse.

Why do you teach the 2-step with the quick quick steps first? We always taught the slow slow first so that the dancers could get on the same step easier as they entered the dance floor! I taught at the original Gilley’s in the late 70s-early 80s…Urban Cowboy era.
Two Step used to be counted with the slows first as it started as Foxtrot. However, Two Step has been counted with the quicks first for quite some time. The reason is that most things (including turns) generally begin on the quicks and finish on the slows. If we still counted with the slows first, most turns etc couldn’t happen within a single basic. You would still be in the middle of a move when the next count would begin. That just wouldn’t make sense.
@@countrydancex My father was a professional dancer (USO with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby)…I learned the foxtrot first. The difference between teaching studio style dancing and teaching honky-tonk style dancing…and it does make perfect sense…and I’ve been dancing for 60+ years with no complaints

@@countrydancex I've seen your more recent videos and you continually improve. Can you do all of these Two Step Dance videos in the Two Step? As in all these moves can be used in the Two Step? I've looked at your multiple playlists and didnt know if they were for different dances. (And yes, I know they're titled Two Step lol)

Maybe not the real two-step
But still fun
If I look at this, it more looks like a four step. This is not a ballroom two-step. This looks watered down.
