It is a bit weird to say a highly stylized, very violent Jason Statham revenge film with a complex underworld is a John Wick rip-off. Jason Statham got his big break in The Transporter and Crank movies a decade before John Wick.
Fr, ppl don't seem to remember these
I thought that after I watched John Wick lol
Watch you next you’ll say prince of Persia started the Arkham fight system, and you’d be fucking right 😂 people don’t pay attention
Rebel Moon also had feelings of the Anastasia story. I was 100% convinced that'd be a twist in the movie the entire time
One thing to note, SPEED is a ripoff of the 1976 Japanese movie BULLET TRAIN where a train can't slow down or it'll explode.
I can't believe You mentioned "The Beekeeper" but didn't bring up "The Bricklayer" or "The Painter" lol It's like there's a Retired Assassins Trade School convention. :D
😂 LoL
There was a ton of these released around the same time with the exact same premise, they just kept changing the "civilian job" they had, if they had one. Beekeeper, Bricklayer, The Baker, Retirement Plan, etc.
2 movies that no one realizes are the same is "Point Break" and "The Fast and the Furious". Think about it
Someone actually did call that out before and that is absolutely right! 💯
@@marce.t8732 it might have been me cuz I've been banging that drum for years
@@knowbody44 🤣👍
I said that to my friends after watching The Fast & The Furious in the theatre when it was originally released.... "It was pretty good, but it was Point Break with street racers" was pretty much my quote.
I think saying Lift is ripping off Ocean's Eleven is like Army of The Dead did the same thing. Sometimes a heist movie is just a heist movie
Lol remember like 10 years ago everyone called any genre movie a rip off it's like, no sometimes it's just a slasher or a revenge flick. There's only so many types of stories to tell
At least with all the rip-offs we don't have to waste braincells getting to grips with new ideas...oh wait that's NOT a good thing ☹️
If you want to go back a bit further tell me Oblivion isn't a ripoff of Moon. Also, The Asylum gave us Z-Nation and for that I will forgive them anything - so much fun.
Aren’t 85 percent the movies we watch now are rip offs of something else
It's a Roger Corman Presents ripoff! 1980: Battle Beyond the Stars to be exact... Seven futuristic mercenaries are assembled to defend a helpless farm colony from an evil overlord. Starring Richard Thomas as Shad - George Peppard as Cowboy - Robert Vaughn as Gelt - John Saxon as Sador -and Sybil Danning as St. Exmin...

The Asylum is basically every Saturday night SyFy channel movie
man, Chris Evans really need a new agent
Beekeepers weren't an underworld thing, they were an extra governmental thing. Either way, Statham and his replacement left me wanting to know more about the organisation.
Every Neeson movie since Taken is basically the same. Every Statham movie since the Transporter is just a copy. The assassin movies? Star Wars? All of the movies that come out can be likened to something that came before it.
You mention various movies being imitations of Mr and Mrs Smith, but neglect mentioning that movie got its ending from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. (They just gave it a "happy" ending.)
Saying Rebel Moon is a rip off when it was written for Star Wars is kind of ridiculous. The whole concept originated from a SW pitch so yeah, it's like Star Wars haha.
Snyder should have made a deep re-development before pitch it to Netflix!
Giving RM more Identity!
Rebel Moon was a Star Wars story that was rejected.
For a lot good and valid reasons!
I have not seen Rebel Moon but from what little you said in this video it seems kind of similar to Eragon
Eragon is at least slightly interesting. Rebel Moon just is the worst
@@SMDoktorPepperI don't know. I literally can't remember anything from Eragon, and I read the book.
@@primepm8861 trust me, Rebel Moon is MUCH worse...and twice as forgettable
7:25 “Takes a diverse cast of talented likable actor” ………Kevin Hart 😅😅😅😅……..
Every movie that Disney has done
Not gonna lie, meth gator actually sounds hysterical and needs to be made by sony
Movies That Are Almost Copies of A Different Movie.
Avatar The Last Airbender feels like a influence to The Golden Compass. Vice has a fight between the left and right parties, while the young and other people aren't into political views are worried what is going to happen. Much like in Captain America Civil War. And it also referenced a movie too. Vice is a nod to Captain America Civil War, but without the special effects and superpower battles. Both of these movies are a about a disagreement with political ideals and a civil war. God Bless America feels like a Postal rip-off, Star Trek 2009 remake feels like copying Star Wars, District 9 has a black comedy feel like Paul Verhoven, and Dune wants to be the next Lord of the Rings.
Lockout should have made this list. It's a fairly obvious rip-off of Escape From New York/ LA.
Yeah but LockOut was Good
Scream 6 was the best scream since #1. Don’t care if it repeated aspect of #2. It changed the style with actual violence and you actually felt like the characters were in danger. It was a huge step step up from the previous films and I hate the studio for screwing up #7 so badly with their stupid politics
Rebel Moon is ripping of 7 Samurai / The Magnificent Seven. It’s not Star Wars or Eragon. It even lined the 6 up leaving room for the 7 (the robot voiced by Sir Anthony Hopkins.)
THANK YOU!!!! You are the first person to see that Rebel Moon is just a bad, BAD, remake of 7 Samurai! Think I made it half way through before I turned it off. And I LIKE Charlie Hunnam!
Exmin...
@@derekflegg2510I always figured Corman or whoever was working for him came up with idea with the thought process of, "Ok, Star Wars took a lot of inspiration from Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress so we'll do the same thing but we'll use a different Kurosawa film, The Seven Samurai, as the basis."
But if you'd like to see a really good sci-fi version of The Seven Samurai, there was an anime series called Samurai7 that was a mash-up of the original film, The Magnificent Seven and Battle Beyond The Stars.
I was looking forward for so long and ive never seen such a massive let down, the whole movie felt like a child wrote it you have characters you get like 5 mins of meeting then bang skip to next planet and character and again 5 mins bang next planet and character you learn nothing really about them the whole movie is just introducing the first character for 80% which is full of her just talking and whining about her past to people she lives around a bit of fighting no interesting dialogue meet next several characters in the next 20 mins then big bad suddenly shows up fight then end it was soooo bad theyshould have tried to make it as a TV series and have whole episodes to meet each character Learn about them and actually get to know and care about them then maybe it would have been better but as the movie nope I will never watch it a second time
Agreed. It was just awful. Actual wood could act better, and what the hell was with the constant slo mo? Battle Beyond The Stars is FAR superior in every way, INCLUDING the effects.
The bee Keeper was horrid Bad writing, bad acting, horrible fake American accents on UK people and a director that should just stop. This movie is at best a 2/10 and has no rewatch appeal.
Amazing video what culture of recent movies that ripoff great movies, fantastic job.
Rebel Moon also looks like it borrows heavily from Warhammer 40k in aesthetic and it's just so relentlessly grim and grimy.
Exmin...
Actually... Rebel Moon is a rip-off of several SciFi Movies! Almost nothing is original
Scream VI really was a disappointment. After seemingly setting up a killer who didn't care about movies, they fell into the tropes of Scream 2. Which was made even worse by supposed expert Mindy not realising or commenting on any of it.
It's not a Star Wars rip... Exmin...
Battlefield Earth scale of rotten..
Some rip-off’s stand pretty well on their own, plus original ideas can be difficult to come by when just about everything has been done in one form or another
Every movie that has actors is a ripoff of other movies also with actors.
Saltburn is a retread of The Talented Mr. Ripley.
To be fair, modern Star Wars is just a rip-off of actual Star Wars.
I at least like "The Family Plan", "Role Play", "Pain Hustlers", "Secret Headquarters", "Rebel Moon" and "Scream VI".
I haven't seen the other movies.
The movie Retribution a direct copy of the South Korean film Hard Hit, which came out on 2021. Nothing to do with Speed. Similar but not a rip off.
While completely seeing through all of Rebel Moon's rip-offs, I still enjoyed it as a park-your-brainer.
Episodes 7/8/9 are all Star Wars rip-offs.
Is this indicative of Hollywood writers *not* being able to come up with any *original* story ideas, or that studio execs go with what *they think* are safe bets (another ride on the same roller-coaster) because original stories are such a risk with today's dumbed-down audiences? Probably a combination of both, but it all starts with the writers.
Mr&Mrs Smith are also a rip-off, there was a TV-series with Scott Bacula with the same name
Stealth is a rip-off of The Terminator, except it's a jet & there is no Skynet
Great point with the number 1 pick!!!
Can I just say "**** you" for using that shot of John Wick's dog....
The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Pitch Perfect is just an acapella rip-off of Stomp the Yard
Forrest Gump is a complete rip off of Little Big Man with Dustin Hoffman
That makes no sense.
Have you ever seen little big man with Dustin Hoffman
The two stories are identica. They both participate or bear witness to major events in an American human
@@liampatrick3110 besides I've already made up my mind that Forrest Gump is about a retard who can't tell the difference between his own fantasies and reality
and to think i thought that you are going to say Scream VI is a ripoff of Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan
The Long Kiss Goodnight...without amnesia.
1) Star Wars is a rip off of 7 samurai’s and the fortress 🤦🏽♂️
2) it’s not a Star Wars “rip off” when it was a script for Star Wars but then was repurposed for an original film
I guess it's too new but 'Argyle' really deserves to be on this list. Not going to say what film(s) it rips off as it would probably reveal plot twists. But I would say, don't go see, just watch the trailer and content yourself that you have already experienced this film.
Well, it is a spin off of Kingsmen..
Rebel Moon was a knock off of "Battle Beyond the Stars" without any of the heart and soul of the original film inspired by Kurosawa. Prove me wrong.
I watched SECRET HEADQUARTERS because of Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman
I really liked their work in PROJECT POWER
Which is why it was so shocking seeing how cheap and generic SH was
Not even Larry Fong was able to shine
Most of these seem like huge rip offs of huge rip offs. So are they ripping off the original rip offs or the ones before which also could have been rip offs of something else. P.S. read wizards hall j.k. rowling stole everything from that book.
I agree but disagree with them on Secret Headquarters I agree it's a rip off of Spy kids I disagree about there opinion that it's a bad movie I actually loved Secret Headquarters and would highly recommend it 😃👍
Rebel moon was fine. I liked its hints at a few franchises.
Star Wars for the majority of the movies is turgid anyway so why’s everyone so up in arms? Episode 7 is literally episode 3. Much more than rebel moon is Star Wars.
So glad I haven’t watched “Lift”
"All the Asylum movies." Hilarious!!!!!
Free guy gives truman show vibes
Rebel Moon is totally an amalgamation of Star Wars, Clash of the Titans and the Magnificent Seven, hard watch
With Magnificent 7 being a rip off of 7 Samurai, which also inspired Star Wars.
Exmin...
Rebel Moon was basically... a big copy-paste of other SciFi Movies and Franchises!
Massive ripoff or not, Rebel Moon is so exquisite in concept & casting I'd probably be massively in love it if almost literally anyone else had made it. But the oppressive coat of utterly dour, nihilistic, completely dead behind the eyes, Snyderiffic grimdark misery just completely ruins it for me.
It's a Roger Corman Presents ripoff! 1980: Battle Beyond the Stars to be exact... Seven futuristic mercenaries are assembled to defend a helpless farm colony from an evil overlord. Rebel Moon was literally as Seven Samurai rip off.
Did he just say “1923” when talking about Asylum movies? If you’re going to have a take, don’t make it 100 years after the fact.
We want the outro back
I'm near certain AI was at least used for wardrobe design. Because, in my opinion anyway, Rebel Moon was more of a Warhammer 40k rip-off than Star Wars. Couldn't sit through it, and sci-fi is normally my jam. Just a p**s poor effort.
And that ripped off 2001 space movie and that copied Flash Gordon who ripped off...see how this works.
don't know if they still do but Asylum also had a really good deal with the Sci-Fi channel where they made movies and shows for them
I used to watch all the asylum movies on sci-fi...on purpose!😂
Rebel Moon was a ripoff of the movie A Bug's Life.
For the Pain Hustlers flick, did he say "wider" or "whiter" audience? Both are valid. lol
The woman's name is Gal Gadot! The "t" is NOT silent! She's Israeli, not French! Vladimir and Estragon are not waiting for her! She's been making movies for 15 years now! Get her name right!
You are aware you said 1923 instead of 2023?, during the Asylum bit.
Great, You just gave The Asylum the go ahead to make a ripoff of 1917 about the Posey War
Rebel moon looks good
If I had wrote something to be part of a huge franchise and get turned down
I would do the same thing Snyder did and take everything I wrote and turn into an original movie instead
Just imagine writing so much material with potential and not get used at all
So you too would have gone ahead and made a truly horrible, unoriginal slog of a movie? Just imagine being turned down by the folks at Star Wars... the same people that greenlit Last Jedi and Return of Skywalker... And not think to yourself, maybe I should change a little more than just names and places....
@@jjwhalen2587
Well, I wouldn't do exactly like that
Did you know that George Lucas originally intended to make a Flash Gordon adaptation? He just couldn't get the rights, so he made Star Wars instead
And besides, we're living in an era of artistic bankruptcy
When the IP is too big, the studios try to play as safe as they can
That's why we didn't get to see an Ant-Man movie directed by Edgar Wright, which could've been a real game changer
Rebel Moon never claimed to be anything other than Star Wars. Thumbs down for you mister. At least its a Star Wars without Disney and all the bullshit garbage that comes with.
Narrator at 6.30 you do realise you said asylum releases in 1923.. I think your a century out there fella

Rebel moon is so unoriginal and predictable it was a pain to watch it till the end.

I love the asylum movies, or any cheap movies in bins, watch them all the time…….I love ya cheap movies
Rebel Moon isn't a Star Wars rip-off
It's a movie that started off as an actual Star Wars movie pitch, that was rejected, so he rewrote it into an original movie
Thank you. It's so ignorant of WC to include them.

Speed is die hard on a bus.
Mission impossible is just American wannabe bond.
Mr and Mrs Smith is true lies
The beekeeper is just the same as john wick they are commando
As for the asylum films that's false it's actually not all mockbusters a very large amount are rather original eg Sharknado
Oceans is a remake of a much better film staring the rat pack
Star wars 1 the 70s film is a rip off of both western and sword and sorcery stories and the fighting man of mars
Scream 6 isn't a rip off but a take on genre itself
Star Wars was a rip off too. Can’t really complain
Rebel Moon rips of Star Wars almost as bad as Eragon or The Force Awakens.

Starring Richard Thomas as Shad - George Peppard as Cowboy - Robert Vaughn as Gelt - John Saxon as Sador -and Sybil Danning as St. Exmin...
Rebel Moon was just lazy writing, with characters behaving for the direction of the story, so 2 dimensional.
If that's the case Star Wars is Dune flattery... I mean rip off.
I wouldn't say so. Despite some inspirations, there are few similarities between them. WH40K is way closer to being Dune rip off. Even then, not quite.

@@sirtaelellevalerie1056 if people are going to say Snyder ripped off Lucas, they must then think Lucas ripped off Herbert. All of these things are ridiculous if you ask me. Taking inspiration from IS flattery. Saying someone ripped something off sounds like plagiarism, or theft. What, are we going to hand wave off all space operas ad infinitum as mere rip offs? That sounds boring. And crazy.
SW could have elements of Dune and other stories. But the big difference is that Lucas always accepted he was inspired by several works, and pay a Tribute in SW. On the other hand Snyder claim the whole RM is 100% his job without taking elements from others
damn the snyder fanbase gonna be butthurt about this one lol

Hollywood is lost in the woke saga! They have forgotten how to write a story that doesn’t have boss women, changing races, characters that have to be gay. Just write a story, forget about being woke and a good storyline we emerge. They need to go back to the basic story telling!
Haha cry harder
@@StanHalen1936 what is that suppose to mean?
Seriously who fucking cares if a woman leads it or someone is fucking gay. Why do these things bother you and why do they mean that the story has to be bad or that the opposite would naturally make for a good story. Boo hoo loser.
Please stop using the word woke it makes you sound stupid.
