Excellent and informative video! I'm a homeowner replacing window's, door's, WRB and siding on the home I purchased last year. I also choose to use the Henry BlueSkin VP100 run vertically over OSB sheathing and all my new windows are Marvin Elevate (18 total). My install so far is very similar to yours with the exception of sealing products. Instead of the Henry products I'm using DuPont Flexwrap NF for my pan and 3M Allweather for my flashing tape and DAP Dynaflex 230 behind the nail fin. I am however using the Henry Crystal Clear sealant on the top flash as you did. With the weather up here in the northeast it's taken me 2 months just to strip off the old cladding, install the VP100 and 4 windows on one wall (doing it by myself). I'm finally ready to install 1x4 furring for a rainscreen then my trim and HardiePlank lap siding. Hopefully I'll make better progress on the remaining 3 walls next year. Anyway, I do have a question for you. How did you secure your window shims on the inside so that they would not dislodge and move with normal expansion and contraction? I called Marvin and they said not to nail them and that spray foam would hold them in but what if I don't want to spray foam them? Their actual written instructions do not mention how to properly secure them.
I learned about Huber acrylic and I insisted by carpenter install it on my new Marvin replacement Elevate custom made casement windows and brick mould.
Thank you for the detailed instructions. How is the flashing/ install different if the Marvin Elevate windows are being installed in concrete walls? Would the Flashing tape just extend onto the concrete itself?
Great question Mike. We would recommend using a liquid flashing from Henry called Airbloc LF. henry.com/residential-and-light-commercial/window-and-door-flashings/air-bloc-lf You can also see the recommendations from Marvin on best practice application on concrete here: www3.marvin.com/WebDoc/Elevate%20IZ3%20Supplemental_19971049.pdf
@@rings_end let’s assume one wanted to size the window without having to remove the interior casing. Use screws to mount the window temp from the exterior until the interior is secured. Pull the screws from the exterior, foam insulate from the exterior (assuming the flange’s will pull back this way) and then continue with the blue skin water protection. Would this work ?
@@rings_end thank you very much for the feedback. Last question, the purpose of NOT folding the top, why not? Can I fold the top and bottom and still flash it with tape and such? I'm just thinking of providing an additional layer of protection by wrapping all four parts of the window frame. Thanks again for creating this tutorial, really appreciate it!
I’m a ABAA commercial installer, and I don’t know what the heck this guys doing….I’m guessing commercial and residential is totally different…vp160 and SA….and we used adhesive ALWAYS!!!!!! He forgot to mention about the factory lines HENRY gives 100 percent warranty 😎
Thanks for the comment. Yes, you are correct Henry does require either Aquatac or LVC primer/adhesive with VP160 or Blueskin SA commercially. For residential and light commercial applications with Blueskin VP100, the primer adhesive is only required on non-wood substrates or when adhesion is impacted by cold temperatures.

Definitely one of the best videos on the subject. Thorough, clear, and good presentation. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
What an excellent training tool for anyone! And it's so snazzy with the Henry Blueskin bow tie 😁
Thank you!

Would you recommend that he nails as well, or shims only? Nice Job

Excellent, we would love to hear any feedback on the product after application. Thanks for sharing!
What a great video. You explain it better than Henry
Glad you enjoyed it

Do you also reccomend z flashing? because marvin is saying to use that. Also do you install screws into the frame? or only on nail fin?
What’s better blue skin or obdyke?
Can the nailing flanges be open from the outside if you wanted to insulate from the exterior?

Do you need a primer with use on concrete?
YES!!!
So can i use zip stretch flashing and zip tape with vp100?
You can, but it will not be qualified for the Henry 1-2-3 Step Moisture Control warranted application.
I see you have drawn out the "l" cut. Can you also do a shorter "I" cut so you can FOLD IN ALL FOUR SIDES, instead of only the left and right side??

Henry recommends a roller...
You're right, Kevin! Not sure why that portion didn't make it into the final edit. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

Itself.
Single lock sash? In 2022? Really
are you kidding
That self sealing demo. Is not convincing. 😂
We're sorry you are not convinced, we will consider that for next time.

I cannot believe he said "Skin a cat" I will not purchase Henry or Marvin products!!
