Great design! I've made one pretty similar to this in the past. After doing a lot of ocean farming, one thing I like to add is another deep foundation and vertical walls on both sides in front of the garage doors going into the boat bay as a screen for potential campers. Don't even need a lid on the walls but I usually still do. Those moments spent leaving the boat motor to go open the door and then back to the motor are very tense and I've been sniped by a camper in that short time on multiple occasions. Thanks for the vid and keep up the great work Evil!
Just wanted to say thanks man. I been in the hospital for three days and sparing the details, im not allowed to eat actual food. Been watching you and hjune and a few others. Its keeping me sane.
This simple relaxing video is still my favorite Rust base building design of all time. Just watching it makes me wanna go live next to a river and build it.
This one's actually huge. I've got 3K hours and consider myself a decent to good Builder, nowhere on your level but good. All of my boat bases are shit. It's a lot harder than it looks to get a good steady set up with a boat base. Thank you for this one brother.
This is helpful. I built an arctic boat base but getting in and out of the boat without getting hypothermia was difficult. One time I actually died of hypothermia in rust. I think as a solo, living in the arctic with a boat is amazing. If you have easy access to a refinery, even better.
Thanks for this guide! I wanted to make my own boat base but wasn't sure how. I didn't quite copy exactly but your video gave me a good idea of what I should do!
I can easily see how to adapt this as an extension onto some of your other base designs. The entire boat lock can be viewed as a secondary airlock to potentially flank raiders, and if you make an intermediate floor you can use the boat lock as second floor/roof access.
I love this so much! I added an HBHF sensor and door controller so when I drive up.. door opens and closes. I was also able to put a door controller on the inside of the same door connected to a switch so when I am leaving i hit the switch, door opens.. when I pass the outside HBHF sensor the door automatically closes when I leave range.
On thing I like to do is put shotgun traps above where the boat enters, so if anyone manages to boat or swim inside they don't get very far. Works great as a trap base too if you leave the water side open. People will literally just boat right on into it haha.
taking a boat out and back from a river after doing a fat loot run is probably some of the most fun i had in this game. fuckin pirates of the Caribbean music in my head the whole time of course.
@@EvilWurst well maybe. I still can't create my own big bases like frustrator-grand frustrator, but something like this just seems too easy, something u can build with close eyes and one hand
And little suggestion to make life easy: add HBHF sensor w/ door cotroler and ceiling light in front of boat entrance, so you dont need to manually open door every time. If you need complete electricity blueprint for that - I can hlp :)
1:33 i personly think an garage door is a bit overkill for a locker it would be much cheaper without it and i would also add 4 halfwalls on the roof in a plus shape to protect the roof more
I´d prob use this as a quick starter and move up to a main close by then aim to compound off the two together, then add some spikes ontop of the boathouse to prevent ladders and your good to go, external, boat access Tc!
I watched your video on a 1x2 when i first started rust, it helped me out alot. I was wondering if this is possible to make on the shores of the ocean, or is it strictly the river?
Oh, no no, this base can definitely be built on the shore! I thought that this is obvious, so I demonstrated how to build it in a river to show that this works, too :)
@@EvilWurst ah alright I thought you could do one big boat base but it makes sense that it would be hard to secure it well and getting the boat out easily.
would it be possible to request you look at making this kind of base but also making it a main rather than aux ? That would be a cool build as I am solo and prefer one base , also I love building near the water
hey just an opinion i think walls inside honeycombs should be doorways as they are cheaper and still kinda work the same way as normal wall honeycombs hope u can test it out thanks :D
Zechbell, the Frustrator is basically the next tier after the Valkyrie. With a quad, it should not be a big deal to build it. Hold off with some HQM upgrades or garage doors if you are worried about the upkeep
To say shortly, just build empty 2*2, surround it with foundations and walls, from all but 1 side. At this side place a stone/wood gate and connect it to the building with external walls. Dont forget the entrance ofc
Hi Evil Wurst,me again. So,yeah , I decided to make russian subtitles for this(or maybe even more videos) video. If you want to know, first 45 seconds were translating almost 50 minutes.(its harder than I thought).Ill continue tomorrow. Please, respond.
So you can place a half wall right beside the foundation stairs. Otherwise there will be no wall and people can swim underneath your stairs and see inside, possibly killing you or griefing your boat.
The idea was that this will hold up the half wall next to the foundation steps. These days, you can use a normal foundation and one of the ramps instead of the foundation steps, which were removed with Building 4.0

Very nice. Definitely a build I'll be adopting for boat bases. Always found the old 2x3 ugly. Thanks again Evil :)

I always love when you do simple bases like these. Very useful early game.
Got this notification as I'm building the trident :D
Lucifer I just built the trident a couple days ago
This is exactly what I was looking for dude I love ur vids. Pls do more small base designs as a solo it really helps!

Yes, that's exactly the problem I had as well ... getting wed and having to deal with the extra cold. The foundation steps removed that issue
I miss Evil Wurst base designs. All I see these days is "The Greatest Best Base for everyone, Raiders will hate it and you will dominate."

i miss seeing evil wurst builds...come back!

Could watch hours of this content. Legitimately a base that could take you all the way through a wipe with slightly more room.
You should probably upgrade it if you planned to use it as main base

who's here learning to build a boat base because they suddenly cost 200 scrap?
They make a lot more sense all of a sudden
@@EvilWurst just a heads up, i tried to do stairs but they wouldn't light up. Had to use a foundation and ramp to create the dock.

yes

holding the wall

Yea get diving gear go out to the water swim to the bottom and build up
Nice job
Love this base
You could add electricity, to open doors when you are near.
yes, that's a great idea!
But why is there a triangle in the water left as just floor
It helps to hold up the wall while building the base. The foundation steps dont provide stability to the wall
@@EvilWurst ah ok great ^^
Can you do a medium tier base. Between the Valkrie and a Frustrator. For about a Quad vanilla group or so.

Can you make a boat/main base for Solo/Duo? Great for bp wipes
I would rather have a main base + this base as extra or starter base
I would rather have an upgraded version of this as main base so time can be spent on farming scrap instead of farming extra mats
You should do 1-2 big bases a month and keep the rest smaller bases
Which type of bases do you consider "bigger"? For example, is the Valkyrie already a "bigger" base for you?
@@EvilWurst More as in the trident or the grand frustrator.. a base where groups can live in basically
Better yet, maybe not a locker but an auto turret for when pulling in the boat to insure your safety
Hehe, why not, if you have too many of them!
I didnt get it, but for what you need triangle foundation to the right of foundation stairs?
So you can place a half wall right beside the foundation stairs. Otherwise there will be no wall and people can swim underneath your stairs and see inside, possibly killing you or griefing your boat.
Wait can't you access the garage door from the driver's seat if you back into the door and alt-look?
How are you building those foundation stairs?
They were removed with Building 4.0. Instead, build a lowered foundation and vehicle ramps on top of them
Reason for the Triangle outside in the water that never got built on?
The idea was that this will hold up the half wall next to the foundation steps. These days, you can use a normal foundation and one of the ramps instead of the foundation steps, which were removed with Building 4.0
@@EvilWurst Ah neat. Thanks for replying even on a older video you may not have given much attention to
Can we use the double door instead of garage door for the boat, without any problems?
I think it will kick you off the boat if you try to enter and exit the base

but if the foundation is below the boat wouldn't it make it decay?
nope
