Chef Saltbaker himself is also an unbelievably gorgeous piece of animation, it's an absolute shame that the fight is hard as nails so it's difficult to appreciate while playing.
Not to mention the imagery and style they successfully mimiced. Seriously the image of Saltbaker grinning and the coachman from Pinocchio (1940) grinning is so close to the same thing while still being animations in Cuphead, it's just perfect.
Honestly for a final boss I thought he wasn't super hard. Well he is hard, but not compared to the madness that are most of the other bosses in this DLC
@@naproupi Normale Mode isn’t, but hard mode was even more hell for me. But as I play Chef Saltbaker more often (because he’s my favorite) he’s gotten easier though I still think he’s the hardest
Cuphead's artistry is almost (if not entirely) unmatched. I've never played it because I know my limits (lol) but I'm FASCINATED by every aspect of it. Like you said, the music is so unique, I love jazz so much, this ost is like a bunch of Xmas gifts. As a Brazilian I have to be cliche and say Floral Fury is my favorite theme with its VERY ACCURATE 20s style samba with cuícas and everything. There isn't a single bad song in this ost! ❤️
I’d say the only thing that matches it’s artistry is the origional cartoons that it’s based on. I highly recommend checking out the likes of cartoons like swing you sinners, Minnie the moocher, and so on. Absolutely great stuff, especially if you’re a lover of animation
@@charliesullivan9211 i meant more within the realm of games, but indeed! Those old cartoons have their very unique charm and style to them, it's pretty cool!
@@CelticBotansDigitalArt I do think their is one game series that matches the artistry and animation quality of Cuphead - and that is Metal Slug. It has GORGEOUS pixel animation and art.
I tried this game not only because I knew it was hard and wanted to know why but also because I love boss fights. Even though it made me rage many times, I don't regret trying it out.
Chef Saltbaker is such a cool bossfight. The way the first phase incorporates all the ingredients you've been collecting so far was really cool to see and the last phase? A giant salt tornado? That was one of the most visually pleasing bosses in a videogame.
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO REALIZES THE ORCHESTRAL GENIUS OF THIS SONG, IT CAPTIVATES THE VILLANY AND CRUELTY OF CHEF SALTBAKER WHILE ALSO WORKING AS A GREAT FINAL SEND OFF TO THE CUPHEAD SERIES (sorry I just think this song is villan musical perfection and chef saltbaker belongs in an old disney film as a villan)
honeslty this comment made me remember how The Key Ingredients (dlc credits theme) embodies a final cuphead sendoff perfectly, maybe even moreso than Baking The Wondertart. it of course has the Don’t Deal With The Devil theme, but also the Inkwell Isle motif, the Far Off Isle motif, and has an amazing Disney-like feel to make it sound so grand, and an ending that knocks it out of the park
I never realized how different the song was listening to it by itself than listening to it in the context of the game (Listening to it while playing the game).
Absolutely, I often realise how good those soundtracks are when listening to them after having played the game. For the moment I haven't played the dlc yet but I have already fallen in love with the soundtrack, I will see if it changes my experience of the game.
What will really cook your noggin is how in the first few tracks, they hint at the motif of the final boss. That all is not well and sinister things lurk below. Then you hear this track and you realize it's all been building to this. Subtle hints in a very Disney sort of manner of what's to come.
4:05 Fun analogy (NOT BY ME) is that notice how the Jazz slowly comes in and grows louder as the fight progresses symbolical of how you're beating Chef Saltbaker and starting to pull through
Finally someone reacting to Cuphead OSTs. Cuphead has literally one of the best OST list of all games. I can't think of a "boring" song or something. Devs literally hired a big band, with most/all of the instruments being "organic". And even so that's one of the few reactions I have ever found for some reason.
Boss's animations r really neat. Its mesmerizing to watching them change phases. Oh boy! Cant wait to see what *monstrosity* they r gonna turn into next.
How have I never seen a rhythm game chart for this!?!? It's so perfect for a high dificulty noodles + rice chart... (Noodles = Long/Hold Notes, Rice = "Spam"/Gap Notes)
i finally joined your discord to really get on top of the uploads, best decision ive ever made. did not expect the cuphead content but theres definitely so much good music to dissect her
Amazing song. This is my first time actually ever hearing it. I like the classical jazz feeling it gives with it's brass and such. But it's so unique on it's own. Definitely not something you hear in ANY other video game OST. Completely unrelated to add as well. I do not know where to exactly "suggest" songs but i'd love to hear your reaction and thoughts on the song "Roland - Library of Ruina" It's a fantastic piece of music with beautiful violin play and piano play all at work in it. I cannot recommend it enough for I feel you'd enjoy it very much. Either way! Love the videos Marco and your thoughts on music. You really are a unique youtube channel and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the future!
As an old soul. I LOVE this style of music. It’s better than anything currently main stream IMO. As someone that regularly listens to Nina Simon, Billy Holiday, Frankie and of course Louis Armstrong to name a few. I LOVE CupHead and the music style. It’s is so so good and satisfying.
Should let your opera singer and conductor friends hear this amazing piece… Also…would love to see you take on so many of songs…Howdown Hoopla, Bootlegger Boogie, Doggone Dogfight…all kinds of amazing…as are you!
Now that's a really great suprise. I love Cuphead's music and this theme is one of the best themes in the game, the intro sequence with a choir is the best part for me. By the way, would you be interested in checking out Pizza Tower music? It doesn't have any real meaning behind it (game doesn't have any real lore), so it may be not really worth your time, but some of the themes are soooo epic. Especially "Bye bye there"
Yes, a Cuphead review!! This was one of my requested games and now I feel sated. Hopefully you get the chance to listen to, or maybe even play Touhou in the future too although I'd understand if you don't want to or can't rn
This soundtrack is genuinely _almost_ perfect. Whilst I myself personally find the later parts of it to be sligthly forgettable when paired up against the unbelievably memorable OST of this beautiful game, the first half ABSOLUTELY carries this piece and is genuinely iconic. The vibraphone and violin in the second phase part *(**1:00* and onward) of it go unimaginably hard and have a weirdly cosmic and astral feel (Ironically enough that's also a part in the fight where you're lifted way high up, probably that was the intention?), which I absolutely adore, I really can't believe that the vibraphone was played *LIVE,* like holy shit it's so fast-paced and ludicrous! The organ and overall sinister mood and feel in the first phase part also go extremely hard. If the general quality (Subjective thing to say, I know, I do agree that the quality is great even in the second half) and memorability aspect was consistently kept up throughout the entire song, then I would have not hesitated one second to call it one of the single greatest pieces of music in the history of video games, but even with its slight shortcomings in mind, it is a damn musical masterpiece given to us by a genius. It is truely insane how seriously the developers took the music of this game, and I for one am ABSOLUTELY all for it.
I dont know why and how but this Song captures the fight against Saltbaker very Well, The agressive and smooth Nature behind the music is great the Song gives Off the vibes you have of Saltbaker very Well The music feels manipulative and Strong, Just how Saltbaker is, this isnt music anymore, its Not even a great Game anymore, this is ART in every Look of this great artistical music piece its ART

That's probably my favourite boss fight in the game, even though there are so many amazing ones to pick from.
This piece feels like it blended together the music style Cuphead uses with a JRPG final boss track.
It sounds like a solsborne track
