The only difference seems to be the addition of Japanese enemies. Other than that, it's the same game.

As far as I know, the special version just has a few additional things, such as the logs at 1:07 and Japanese bad guys, like the sumo at 1:54 or the car at 4:15.

I don't think that's it. While there is a Japanese version of special, this is the US version, which is why there is a recycle message at the beginning of the video. It seems to me that it's more like a later revision.

@@arronmunroe This game takes me back to my days at the mall. I played this game once and never saw it again, but it always stuck in my subconscious as a kid. Fast-foward twenty something years later and I too have played on my channel a literal version called: MAME_Portable_B._Rap_Boys that stands alone as it's on application.
I don't even know how you got this version to work. Every rom I tried to use of the original and this special would always fail. I would definitely like to know what this version is, where I can find it, what emulator you're running to play it?

While the emulator used here was FB Neo, I have gotten this running on MAME too. It's unclear to me which specific version of MAME you tried before, but any recent version of MAME should work, assuming we're talking about regular MAME, and not something like a Retroarch MAME core.

It isnt any way arount to select your favorite character when starting the game? I move my pad to the left so I can try to select the other characters, but does not do anything, I am using mame to emulate

If you want to play as another character, just set the credit button and other controls for the second player. Also disable p1 controls if necessary.
