Went to see Barry Manilow at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas during Presidents Day weekend. He was absolutely marvelous! For our generation there are no singers like him any more. An hour and a half of pure fun and nostalgic remembrance of our 70s and 80s when we had lots of crooners and talented singers that are non-existent today. Can't wait to see his Christmas show.
Agreed the storytelling is such a big part of the show. It’s such a positive atmosphere with the glow sticks. I’m 43 and didnt know half the songs but it didnt matter. I loved the show
We saw Barry last weekend and he was fantastic! We saw him 14 years ago at the Hilton (same venue) and show was just as good as it was then. Great review. You hit it perfectly. Great showman. Hard to believe he is 79!
I've been a fan of Barry Manilow for a long time. I'm in my 30s so I heard of him when I was in third grade or so. My mother used to take me to her job occasionally and to entertain me she used to allow me to listen to the radio, I had headphones on those days lol. Anyway I would go through the stations and my faves were the adult contemporary stations on A. M. The song they played over and over was "Copacabana." Well I took a liking to the song right off the back! I've been a fan ever since. I remember being in high school and having to feel like I had to keep a secret lol. My peers liked rap and here I was listening to "Looks like we made it" haha. So for maybe 30 years I've been a fan and he's still going strong. Next year will be 50 years since his first album! It's incredible, he's such an inspiration! You can tell he really loves what he's doing and I do think it keeps him going. One of these days I'll have to catch his Vegas show or if he ever comes nearby to me, In Maryland. Barry is a true treasure and we do need to appreciate him while he's still going. There aren't many legends like himself still around!
I was there for all 3 shows last weekend - will be there next weekend for 2 Christmas shows!! Barry is by far the greatest entertainer/performer we have- he is a legend!! ALL HIS CONCERTS ARE AWESOME - seen him over 60 times!! All his concerts are 10s!!!
Seen him in London in 2014, traveled from Switzerland just to see him. Been only a fan since 2013. Of course, the shows are not the same than when you see him in videos of the 80's and 90's, but he was still great and such a funny guy (and naughty at times) and that alone makes him one of the best, if not THE best entertainer! In a Facebook fan group, I saw an old interview from early 90's, where he said that he still writes jingles but not under his name, and sometimes he gets the job and sometimes not; but it keeps his writing sharp. And oh yes, Barry is genuine, you can believe that; an old school friend of his said once in a documentary about Barry that what you see on stage is what you get off stage, he is exactly the same... I love him for that too.
Super accurate review of Barry's show. I saw him last night for the first time, and I was highly entertained and joyful. I didn't want it to end! Great memory for me at age 60! #SpringfieldMissouri #greatsouthernbankarena
What an amazing entertainer! I've been blessed to see him live 3 times now. Twice in Vegas and once in Boston. Sometimes when you see someone live they don't sound the same as they did on their albums but Barry sounded just as wonderful as he did when I first discovered him when I was 11 years old. I can't wait to see him again!
Have loved him ever since I first heard ‘Mandy’ on radio. There’s no one else like him, I have seen him over 100 times and he is the most genuine heartfelt performer you’ll ever see. He truly loves his fans as much as they love him. He is the best entertainer I’ve ever seen. So glad you enjoyed his show.
@@nespressoman I know what you're hinting at and no one cares about that. People love Barry for his music and the rest no one cared about! He's a great entertainer who gives his all to his fans every damn night. That's all that matters to us! Take your negativity somewhere else. Thanks.

@@Cwm368 Of course it was possible to have a career. Elton managed quite nicely! Barry lied to his fans for 40 years. Barry is one of my all-time favorites. When he came onto the music scene in the 1970's, Frank Sinatra said "He's next". Rolling Stone Magazine called him The Showman Of Our Generation. I agree. He puts on a great show and performs all of his classics that his fans came to hear.
I make my twice yearly trip from the UK to Vegas to see this amazing guy and he never disappoints. It always amazes me how he gets the non fans engaged in his show with his sheer force of energy. I've never sat next to anyone who has been to a Barry concert who hasn't been entertained. There's a reason he keeps winning the best Vegas entertainer award, he's a legend!
I know that it kind of speaks for itself that the band, singers, and of course Barry, must have all been in great form for you to have given this great review, but you didn't mention any of that! His voice, his piano playing, his supporting cast, and his band are pretty darn important to his show and to the entertainment value. Would have liked to see some shout outs for all of that.

Thank you so very much for this open and honest review of Mr. Barry Manilow. I have always felt he is just one of the original showmen. And you are right, the music and love from the people is just two of the elements that keeps him going. Plus his great love of music. I have loved him since i was 14-15yrs old.
