Peep passing away upsets me because it's crazy to think about what he created and accomplished in just a couple years of seriously making music. His live vocals during some of his last shows were improving so much and he was really finding his voice. It makes me wonder what kind of music he would have been creating these past years, especially with the rise of people doing pop punk and experimental type stuff, plus the rage stuff... Damn, such a loss, RIP, crazy uniqueness and work ethic. One of the most organic artists I've seen get huge.

It’s a lonely path to the top. Look at Beyoncé, she use to be in Destiny’s child but the rest of those women fell off and it wasn’t Beyoncé’s responsibility to pick them up and drag them around. And even though Beyoncé could afford to, nobody wants to be a sidekick and known as someone’s shadow or have people say they got big because of charity. The industry is hard, I knew and was friends with one of the people who are mentioned in this video and luckily I got to spend time with him when I was doing modeling work. It was interesting seeing how the industry affected him from when I kicked it with him when he was 16. It’s really hard, a lot of extreme ups and downs (we called it “rush to wait”)and for someone who struggles with being bipolar, it’s very hard. But nevertheless he was always very much like he’s always was, funny, childlike heart, and extremely kind and not only he was talented, people just gravitated to him. I was 5 years older and I remember that gravitational pull. Also remember when he pulled in a lot of bad people. I always wished I said something but I wasn’t really around then and I was doing just the same bad shit.
But all I can say is that it’s a whirlwind of an experience and no one should ever judge someone who goes through it. And those who want that life, just know you will barely make it out alive.. shit or alive at all because it’s taxing af on the soul. Much love, thanks for this video.

Awful Records was a label that was hot back in 2013-2015, with acts like Slug Christ, Key, Makonnen and they took him in back when he was practically a nobody and had no buzz. Him working with Ethereal and Father, opened doors for him with producers, features, their platform got him some exposure in the Alanta underground scene at the time with early buzzing songs like Lost, Beef, Talk Depressed Hoes, Mercedes. Instead, he used their name for clout, attention, exposure. became friends with Ian & soon distanced himself from Awful without ever looking back. Carti also came up with Uno and Fauni and had a group called Splur Gang. Risha already did a vid about that situation with then, but essentially, he did them both dirty, when the opportunity arose for Carti to leave them to join ASAP Mob, he just left the two behind. He was even allegedly talking down on them behind their backs to Rocky and Bari. I say this all to paint a picture, that there's a history of Carti using people for clout. For what he can gaub from them & when he feels like it, he moves on and stops associating with them all together like they never had a relationship. He also believe or not, did the same thing with Uzi. He recognized Uzi was in a position to gain off of him in order to bolster his own status. Before 2017, before Self Titled, Carti wasnt even mainstream at this point. His biggest songs were just Broke Boi and Fetti which where just internet hits. Carti was yet to have a song on the charts or had an official project out. Contrast this with Uzi who ran 2016 with a bunch of hits, big projects, was on Bad & Boujee and in early 2017, just put out his pop hit, career changing single Xo Tour Life. Him and Uzi was on such different levels in terms of mainstream relevance, terms of buzz, & terms of sheer fanbase size back then.
So then when it's time for Carti to finally drop his project, who who does he look for his 2 lead singles? Uzi. Lookin & Wokeuplikethis*. To get someone on both your lead singles for your debut tape, to me, I saw this as Carti riding off the back of Uzi's wave. He clearly recognized the power if being friends & associating himself so heavily with Uzi at the time, so these cosigns definitely benefited Carti & help him expose him to a bigger audience without a doubt. Again, going back to my point about Carti going separate ways with Awful, Uno and Fauni, Ian, u can see the pardon of Carti and Uzi as just another move by him where he closely associates himself with someone he can gain from at one point & when he's ready to move on from them, he does so, & never addresses why
