Chris you remind me of the older generation of operators, like my dad and our old boss who lost his life on a dozer.every move is premeditated and calculated, try not to move dirt twice. You know it saves the under carriage. It's hard to make money with those things. But you are an awesome operator.
What a difference a few weeks make! When Chris first started at the very far end! That sloppy goopy muddy mess! And now to actually see dust coming off the bucket with each load of dry clay dumped in the haul truck! I bet you thought this day would never get here! Fantastic job as always Mr. Chris! And John! Now I know what needs to be built for your mud dredging work - an Everglades mud buggy with a digging arm like a backhoe attachment. Continuing to show improvement - slope on shoreline is better that shear edge.

I wonder if you could work with a local college to design better mats. There is high impact plastic dunnage used for transport of heavy loads. They could make a wooden mat and a plastic one to compare durability. This would be a great project for mechanical and design engineers.
good thought, they recycle car tires and use the recovered materials to make mats for cow stalls. My concern with your suggestion is would a local college have the equipment to make a full size mock out of plastic, I would not imagine they would or a 3D printing company.
Hey Shawn, I have thought for a long time the mats they use are poorly designed and made of junk material in the first place. There are too few rods holding them together and they don't seem to last very long. I agree with the fellow who suggested asking Logger Wade's family to make a few prototypes for Chris to try out.
@@andrewjameson5918 Not sure if all colleges would but any that near manufacturing facilities should cover Thermal Dynamics of Polymer Extrusion. Since the mats can be made from 100% recycled materials that would qualify for a possible grant.
Anywhere a college can work with industry is a key learning experience for the students. It is good to see that there are grants available for this type of thing. Maybe Chris would chip in as well as it could supplement his merch income.
I still think ya need to drop a weighted waterproof time capsul containing a flash drive stick loaded with all the videos of this build right in the middle!
The way technology is going, by the time they fetch it out of there nobody will even know what a flash drive is or have the means to get the info off of it! 😁. It’s only been about 35 years and cassette tapes, VHS and CD’s are already about obsolete. Crazy times!

I know you’re probably getting tired of dredging on this pond but since you’ve dredged it this far they should have you do the whole pond. It doesn’t look like the pond will be very deep on the un-dredged part. Then again I’m not the one paying.

I’m curious about dozer technics, I see sometimes that they take a relatively deep cut but only a narrow slice and push to some boundary and other times just a thin cut in depth across the whole blade and do it several times to achieve the full depth. What drives the difference?
All depends on the shape you're trying to create and the amount of dirt you're trying to move, usually when you see an operator who isn't making contact with the full blade he's trimming an uneven spot in the grade. There's a difference too between hogging dirt and fine grading for a finish. - An operator

Shoreline gets rebuilt, weeds scraped off, the pond gains a couple of feet of depth & the good clay is exposed for extraction.

Really nice thing when switching between excavator and Dozer is no down time. I hate twiddling my thumbs when I have to wait to get on with work

Rubber mats would be way to heavy, plastic would b to expensive. Just my opinion.

I'd say the soil compactness and hardness.
. . or a narrow bite doesn't spill over the other edge requiring another pass with the blade.
