You mentioned how Freddie acted "respectful" towards the other instruments being played onstage (?... Is that the right word for what I'm trying to say?) A lot of people don't notice/realize that whenever one of the others is playing a solo (which of course is most noticeably Brian w his lead guitar)... that Freddie always goes over near the solo being played, in order to draw the audience's eyes/attention to focus on the soloist.
that is what i talking about yes! :) and yes i sadly even in real life see bands struggle with singers who just steal solo players lights.... Freddie was genius about that too!
The camera always followed Freddie. Freddie wanted to make sure the band got their just highlights in concerts. Freddie was very unselfish.

Freddie said many years ago that technology would take over music and then it would lose its soul. You reminded me with what you said. Freddie saw it coming a long time ago.
Brian May wrote this song and it is a great showcase for all the members of the band. Roger and John are the driving force with the tight and precise back end, Roger is killing the skins and the bassline is strong and at times taking the lead. Brian's guitar work is outstanding and of course, Freddie is perfection on the vocals. Thank you for reacting to this great song. The beginning was just call and response to get the crowd involved then the song Dragon Attack came in. Freddie, Roger and Brian are all lead vocalists in their own bands before and after Queen. John doesn't like to sing but occasionally sings backup. John has a low voice so when they need it, he does sing but rarely. John said this was his favorite song to play live. John shadows Freddie when Freddie is on the piano so good observation.

Jam session between them so no one composed the music as such.
Its credited to Brian but he has said maybe he shouldn't say it's his.
He said he took all the best bits and polished it up.

This is one of my favorite songs. It's like a garage band rocking out. Great beat.
I am pretty sure this song came from a Jam in the studio.

Brian wrote this . Roger said once that if you want the studioversion - you can buy the record - where they can do harmonies by multitracking - In Bohemian Rhapsody Freddie is harmonizing with himself in the first part - 16 layers! -the others are miming. In the operatic section they all sing - also multilayered . They can do a lot of it on stage, but they can also improvise - and they do it a lot - and as they are great musicians all 4 of them it always works. There are only the four of them - - and Spike Edney came along backstage to take over the keyboards/piano to make it possible for Freddie to run around and interact with the crowd. On stage they solve the problems in Bohemian Rhapsody by skipping the first section - and make a lot of smoke and disappear to the back of the stage while playing a tape in the operatic section . John doesn't like his voice - and his microphone is not always plugged in.
In the Blu-ray commentary Roger and Brian said this was Freddie in a bad mood, which shows how great of a showman he was. This event was not during a tour and the band did full rehearsals to film only 2 nights in Montreal. Freddie hated this gig because it was brightly lit so the cameras could pick the image up and the cameras were basically feet from the stage and blocked his ability to see the audience like he normally would.
He was angry at the director who kept interfering with the band and with the crowd who wanted to participate but were told to sit down. This is why Freddie comes out in shorts during the encore - to mess with the continuity. In the end, after being remastered once Queen finally owned this property, it's such a fantastic recording both audio and visually. Really amazing, does not look like 1981. Immaculate quality.

John Deacon does sing live very, very rarely. When he does he usually shares Freddie's Mike (see Liar from 1973). If you like live versions by bands you must watch Rush perform Xanadu from their 1981 Exit Stage Left tour - it is phenomenal (and that is under selling it).
Everything was a prop for Freddie, a way for him to convey the message. the mic stand AND the wire were props for him. It took amazing dexterity for them to rarely get tangled up on stage. Brian, Freddie, and Freddie’s roadie had to keep them all tangle free. John was actually the first in the band to go wireless. He used remote packs for all his bass guitars.

About the mics: the mics you can see are all for the vocals since all the band members were singing in some song parts… Brians Amplifiers have all separate mics which you can see in front of his amps, bass and drums also have separate mics……so the mics you can see are only for the singing voices ( Brian and John)..

Great reaction..thank you...Freddie sings “take me back to the shack”...this is a reference to a club in Munich, called the Sugar Shack...as for John Deacon...this is one of his favourite songs...a brilliant bass player🤩

This is Freddie in his alpha male mode. While the lyrics are somewhat cryptic it speaks to their Munich days, the wild club life and Mack, their producer. You see more pointed interaction btwn players on this performance - Freddie and Brian getting the beat, Brian looking toward John to get on point with John striking the bass to demo. The album version is extended and quite fun.

Roger Taylor is an amazing drummer , great vocalist and songwriter . My fave Queen member and I’ve seen him live .

John was a far much better bassist than a singer. Bohemian Rhapsody was based on the voices of Freddie, Brian and Roger only. You can find some videos where you can see John singing, but in most of the time his mic was switched off.
Btw, Freddie could have been a great actor, he was talented in that too. He loved the theatrical world, but his way was singing, making music and performing them. He never wanted to be an actor even not in classical musicals.
