John Deacon's bass work makes this song so soulful. It's like your heart is being stretched out by pain, which is what this song is about. Same thing as in the song Jealousy.

One of the best hidden gems by Queen!! Written by Brian May about finding himself “stuck between a rock and a hard place!” 💔 Love the way Freddie sings this song 🎶🎶

They have such a huge catalog of songs. Many get put in a medley / shortened for time. Realize. They all sing. Write songs, & play multiple instruments. They could play a three hour concert, & still have enough original material to fill about seven more hours. Easily. PS. They did do a live version. For BBC radio. BTW. This is off of album # 6, of the fourteen they put out. Before Fred's death. Fourteen albums. From 1973 to 1991.

"News Of The World" was the first tour I saw Queen at last at Brussels Forest National venue. A great show with the people stomping and clapping the "We Will Rock You" intro. A huge seven ton crown hung above the stage, containing all the lights and other pyrotechnics, but the moment the band came on the stage the crown sagged on one side and came down a couple of meters. Never seen a band leave the stage as fast as Queen on that moment. The crown was re-lifted into place and the concert went on as if nothing ever happened. Oh, and "It's Late" was played that night.

Absolute top five of unknown songs. Awesome bass on this. Great vocals from a Freddie -= A very Bluesy style song and the production itself (on good speakers or headphones) sounds like they’re right in the room with you

Dead on Time is another hidden gem with incredible guitar work and a surprise ending. And the concept is great too. And sticking with the them of late/on time, if you haven't yet you should react to '39, Dr. Brian May's unexpected song about the physics of traveling near the speed of light and what it does to time.

They did play it live during the news of the world tour. It’s a heavy fan favorite, but I think it wasn’t an easy vocal. There are some recordings of this….audio only to the best of my knowledge. Detroit ‘77 is excellent. One of Brian’s best.
Were you talking about Roger hitting the high notes in this song?

Freddie does an E6, it is underneath the last guitar solo. That is the highest not on a Queen studio album. Of course Freddie did some higher notes live.

Queen did play this live a few times, there is audio available. This song is really, really difficult to sing. Roger does not always sing the high notes. Freddie has sung higher notes then Roger, he could access the whistle register, which s your highest register but very few people uses it. It's Late has the highest note on a Queen studio album and it an E6 from Freddie. Every Queen harmony is different depending on the sound they wanted. All of the Queen members were tenors so they sang in the same area, thus low notes was bigger issue for them then high notes. You get songs where Freddie, Brian or Roger does their own harmonies alone, Freddie and Roger often did high harmonies together. Freddie often had to do the low harmonies. Brian often did middle harmonies, but he also did high harmonies. By 1979 Roger had lost his high falsetto, in the 80's and 90's Freddie did all of the high harmonies. But range of the notes is really not important, the sound of the notes made the determination.

The song is for sure about one sided love. But the first verse feels more like a casual one night stand, where like one person really is lusting after the other one, but the other one is turned off after they shared the night.
The second verse feels more like a relationship, a couple, where one has been unfaithful, still loves the other party-But he or she has had enough, of the bullsh!+ and the cheating, and has fallen out of love.

So are you learning that Queen has its own style - and shift in tempo is not a fault - it is deliberate - it is Queen? 4 worldclass perfectionists do not make faults like you claimed in The Miracle. They don't play by rules - they make their own music. Btw. I hear no faults. none of them do something to show off - they all play to serve the melody . Actually Roger hates drumsolos - - it's just showing off - and boring.John is a very melodic bass player . For your own pleasure you should find Nandi Bushell - a tiny girl who have drum battles with Roger Taylor - and Dave Grohl she is 9 - 11 years old - and she beat them. She has performed with Foo Fighters at a mega concert!-Now - 2 years later - at the age of 12 she can play piano, guitar, bass, drums and the saxophone - as well as sing. She has recorded a single .She has close to a million viewers at her RUclips Channel. Roger Taylor was a good friend of FF - and a mentor to the late Taylor Hawkins - who in turn was a mentor to Roger's son Rufus Tiger Taylor who is an accomplished drummer - who has played with Queen in recent years to make it possible for Roger to sing.Very notable in these concerts were drum battles between father and son. His middle name Tiger was given to him by Freddie Mercury. He is now drummer in The Darkness (since 2015).Nandi and Rufus and Queen played at the tribute/memorial concert for Taylor Hawkins in London - maybe you can find it on RUclips .
