- Matthew Lloyd and Nathan Brown can't understand why Bailey Smith was being used as a forward for much of the Western Bulldogs' loss to Collingwood, a match that saw the star amass his lowest disposal count for a game he completed since his debut season.

Dogs are the classic 'no plan b' team. As soon as their pressure stops being effective, they can barely play football. They'll win a few games off talent alone, but they're definitely not flag threats.
I am a bulldog supporter and you are spot on
You are spot on. Under Beveridge we have relied on individual brilliance first rather than solid skills and a sound game plan. It should be the other way around. A solid game plan with good skill execution, with the individual talent being the thing that separates you from the ordinary pack. 2016 was different since we had some great leaders in Boyd Murphy Morris Picken, Smith, that not only played in prelims but were hard players themselves and key reasons we won that flag.
The best coach won. For some mysterious reason, Bevo continues to field four players that are sub VFL standard. The panel's assessment is absolutely correct: key players are moved out of position, replaced by wannabes. So the dogs play 14 against 18 as the four no-hopers may as well not be there.
That Bevo chooses timid O'Donnell over at least seven better players in the VFL disqualifies him as coach. Sad that the star-studded dogs must remain a mediocre team for another three years before the club fires the coach.
AFL players get dropped to the VFL when non-competetive. The same should go for coaches. Maybe a couple of weeks in the VFL will help Bevo learn that his fast flowing hand-ball game that won him the flag in 2016 is better than the stagnant chip and pass around the boundary debacle.
Who’s the 4
@@buddysally886 I hesitate to name the four, since doing so goes against my religion. My Bible teaches me that if I don't have mercy on others, neither will God have mercy on me. But look up the statistics online: the four can't find the ball, unless someone passes it to them, after which they tend to fumble or turn it over to the opposition. Bevo drops them week after week then gives them a second, third...umpteenth chance. Some players will never achieve AFL standard.
Lloyd, Cornes and Brown are more kind but question the sanity of moving Bailey Smith and Jack MaCrae out of the midfield, replacing them with the weakest in the list.
Even my American wife, rather new to the game, noticed the madness of moving our best players out of the midfield. Her comment may just explain the insanity: "Maybe Luke wants to get fired for financial reasons...he certainly appears confused in press interviews."
@@TheBinaryWolf I barely understood any of that, both were élite disposal getters and they don’t do anything
@@TheBinaryWolf Yeah it's a weird scenario at Bulldogs land, they should be in the top 4, with the list they have, they have played in patches of brilliance and then fallen off.......I don't know what's going on. They were soundly beating the top team in the comp then fell off.....then were on top of them again, then fell off.......then tried when it was too late......just weird. Pies are the best team, but some teams have the blueprint to beat us, Lions did it, Dees did it, Dogs know how to beat us, they beat us last year and nearly beat us here.
@@SilentHotdog28 Notice that immediately after the rookie was subbed off, the dogs got on top.
As long as Bevo is coach, the doggies will flounder: his moving McRae and Smith out of the midfield and placing inept players in their place is madness.
I think Bevo wants out, and getting fired is financially in his best interest. Why else does he field four or five players that are not even at VFL standard?
Love how Damo tries to make a media hype story of it by linking Bailey’s performance to his drug use scandal from a year ago but then Lloyd just shuts him down
Damo is just another lefty journalist. If he focused on the mechanics of the game, he would have so substance to offer and not need to dig into the dirty laundry of others.
The use of Smith hasn't been great, but the real atrocity is the misuse of Macrae. One of the best inside mids of the past decade and he's been played predominantly forward or on the wing causing his influence on games to evaporate. Meanwhile his rightful position is being filled by Daniel and Treloar. Both good players but simply not in Macrae's league.
Ugle-Hagan needs to sort his goal kicking out. Kicks a goal 34 percent of the time and that’s not good enough even though he’s still young
Naughton is probably around that ball park, he's so inaccurate.
Daniel's inclusion in the midfield this year hasn't helped
Daniel is overrated
@@vacaridi67890 Wasn't my point - I'm saying him being in the middle allows for less time for Baz in the middle
Daniels needs to go back to defence, and smith back in the midfield for him, only the bont has any run in that midfield
how is darcy not in the team 🤣 but lobb, coach of the year
Can someone tell me how Rory Lobb still gets a game he has done nothing since coming to the doggies he plays like he doesn't care and scared to get hurt
6”9 only reason
hes there as the backup ruck but honestly he's not even good at that
dogs aren't flag contenders this year unfortunately and also the Rory Lob investment turned out to be a disaster too
Bailey Smith will be at Geelong in 2024
Leave him alone!!
bevo is an awful coach and had nothing to do with us winning in 2016.
we had so many heart and soul players, who took us to the flag that year.
clay smith, toby dickson, liam picken, tom boyd.
that entire finals run had moments of brillance from many players who had a special moment. we have never actually dominated a season with bevo and never finished top of the ladder.
he needs to go, hes playing players out of position and why he continues to give o'donell games at the highest level is mind boggling
He's not an awful coach
Completely disagree about 2016, he was so crucial to that victory when a lot of our guns were young. I do think he’s got an outdated game plan and is too stubborn to change now though
@@kaneflanagan2116 thru were lead by the onfield leaders.
Morris, Boyd, wood, Murphy
Bevo has never been a good coach, proof is in the pudding. We have never finished top 4
First half they shut down Daicos and were winning. Stopping Daicos is the key to beating collingwood
No they didn’t.
He had 6 clearances in the first quarter. He had a quiet second quarter but still had 13 touches by half time
His first quarter was elite. Collingwood are the furthest thing from a one player team. Best way to beat Collingwood is through turnover and moving the ball quickly before they have a chance to set up defensively, then lower your eyes when kicking forward. We struggle with sides that have great key position forwards. We’re still lacking a big body key defender. 👍👍
They are played out of position due to Sports fixing. It's obvious these coaches have an incentive to dictate their disposals. It's all about $$$$
Bevo isn’t a good coach. He just got lucky by the amazing players. He has terrible tactics and is arrogant. This team has top four talent. Smith is a winger or midfielder
Nathan Brown's botox is about to melt over his eyes 🫠😭
