Welcome back Gabriel, Its nice to watch your video exactly after a year of deadly earthquake on April 25th 2015 . Thank your for promoting tourism in Nepal.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic and mocking the dude for promoting travel to a dangerous place... OR actually thanking him for helping tourist to trust travelling to Napal again....
Hey man. I’m in Pokhara now and you did such a great job capturing it even with equipment and editing from 7 years ago. On my way to Everest base camp next week and I owe this great experience to your videos for giving me the confidence to do this. 🤙🏼 you’re the best gabe.
Your videos have kept me sane during this spell of isolation. I am 76 and have travelled to all the countries you have been to except the east European ones which I might do after the lockdown is over. Please dwell on the markets more if possible. I particularly love markets and indigenous people. Thanks
Yeah I totally want to head back to Nepal and do the Everest trek and also Mustang. I wonder when that will happen next. Not this fall I don't think, so maybe next year.
very helpful video. I am going to Pokhara next week from India. It's going to be my first solo travel . Your video gave me a lot confidence. Thanks a lot!
Hey man I absolutely love your videos and you really have inspired me to travel and to basically explore the world. My goal is to visit the Himalayas and to also visit mongolia, russia, and the central asian countries. Your videos are absolutely amazing, although I must admit I am nervous of traveling by myself. Also what are some cheap traveling advice as I really don't have enough money hahaha. But anyway greetings from Australia.
hey there, sounds like a great plan, I'd love to see Mongolia and Russia myself. Here's another video of mine with some more ideas for traveling cheap: ruclips.net/video/Hc_B6yWrTKk/видео.html
Good thing you didn't order any of the curries at Marwadi- I was there and ordered paneer pasanda which normally has a very distinctive cashew gravy, one of my favorite dishes. When it came it was bland and more like second rate shahi paneer. When I complained the waiter actually said they use the same gravy for many different dishes. I love your videos, can't wait to go back to Nepal and I was just there 3 months ago.
Pokhara meteo is sun all week with high 34 celcius and low 16. Perfect weather to sleep at night and to go to the beach at day time but the beach is far far away....
Do you ever get sick eating in these restaurants? I imagine they attract a lot of reaches? How do you fin a restaurant? just walking past? recommendations? do you ever check tripadvisor for reviews first?
I've managed to avoid getting sick fortunately. But it's always a risk when traveling, you just never know. I've talked with plenty of other travelers who have gotten food poisoning while traveling at one point or another. As for finding restaurants, yeah mostly just walking past and taking a look. Sometimes I have a guidebook and will go to a place based on reading about it. I don't tend to get reviews of restaurants online, I use that more for hotels. But also recommendations from other travelers who might mention a good place to eat.
Nice one Gabe. would you please make an informative video like this while you are buying trekking gear.. Also why didn't you purchase the trekking gear from Thamel. is it cheaper in Phokhara?
I'm not sure whether it's cheaper in Kathmandu or Pokhara. I already bought most of my gear here in Pokhara, I didn't need to get a lot of stuff. But I'll make a video showing what gear I'm bringing and also other tips for trekking, hopefully before I take off, maybe tomorrow.
I often have tea in the mornings, but herbal tea of some kind, I don't drink caffeine at all. The tea I had with breakfast in this video was tulsi which is a natural herb from India.
If you're travelling places like India and Nepal it's very easy because most of the population is vegetarian, the only animal products they have are dairy. Which can also easily be avoided.
+Gabriel Marengo Yeah, India and Nepal would be probably the easiest countries to travel in as a vegan. Elsewhere it would definitely be tougher. Not impossible, I've met plenty of vegan travelers, Louis Cole recently turned vegan and he's travel vlogging non-stop like me. Certain places have vegan restaurants like Chiang Mai, Thailand, Ubud in Bali, Indonesia and Cusco, Peru. But outside of tourist zones you will find some vegetarian dishes on menus in a lot of places, not necessarily vegan, but you might figure out how to communicate it to them (i.e. have someone write a message on a note in the local language). If nothing else then you can always go to local markets and buy fresh veggies and fruits. It would certainly present a challenge while traveling but one that could be figured out.
Nice video! Reminds me of my happiest travel memories of cycling around the villages around Siem Reap and meeting the wonderful locals :) The trekking shops are really useful hey. Is it quiet season there right now? Hope your buddy arrives safe and well!
I guess it's kind of the end of high season, so it's not peak season but still travelers are around. But apparently because of the earthquake a year ago it's still affecting tourism in Nepal and so the high season wasn't as busy as it would have been otherwise.
+Gabriel Traveler Thats interesting. I'd love to visit anytime of year :) Considering it as my next stop after Australia and then into India. Thanks for sharing..finding your videos really helpful. Stay safe up there!
Hey Gabriel nice video .. I my self hoping to go on a budget trip to nepal & trekking himalaya's late in this year . Could you recommend what are best time of the year to do so , where the sceneries are awesome and safe to trek?
Thanks. If you plan to trek later this year then I would plan for September-November. I guess monsoons are coming soon and that won't be a good time for trekking.
Thats not super cheap, for 24$ a day you could eat here in Romania stakes and meat all day. I tought Nepal is way much cheaper than the country i live.
Well tourist targeted places are really expensive compared to where normal Nepali people go. 24$ is like a fooding cost of a normal Nepali home for a couple of week.
Best place and best people are there so. If u like to visit nepal hurry make ur plan and I would like to tell u one thig there is u can travel low cost
I'm really not sure about that and am curious to find out the situation. I've been told that there is wi-fi at places along the trekking route, but that it's slow and probably won't work for uploading videos. So there might be a break from the videos for a while. Maybe I can at least record a couple of short clips, in crappy quality so that the files are smaller and then at least post some updates along the way.
It will make it a lot more difficult if you don't speak any English. Many Nepali people speak English, but almost no one will speak Spanish, Portuguese or French. You can still go there, I don't really no what it will be like though.

But I don't know them well and only knew about their trip through Facebook. Maybe I will contact him and find out more about his trip.
Hey Gabe nice vid mate keep up the good work! You might know this already but the actual abode of Lord Shiva and family according to the Vedic scriptures is mount Kailash...you might want to go trekking there some day if you haven't already done it :)
Well.. you can spend a day cheaper than 24$ .. usually the tourist areas are lot expensive.. Also the people tend to ask for higher price when they see tourists.. So you need to be a bit clever too.. Its better to ask locals about prices or little help to find stuffs.. Anyways.. I love your videos.. Keep it up :)

I'll try to do a video soon explaining. Basically I have the camera hanging by the strap around my neck so people don't think I'm filming, it looks like I just have a camera because I'm a tourist.
+Gabriel Traveler I also assume people in India and Nepal don't really give a shit about being filmed as much as Westerners do? Last time I was in India, I was filming everything and no one seemed to care.
The4thWall Yeah I'd love to do some sort of live Google hangout kind of thing sometime, but my crappy laptop here has a broken webcam, plus the time differences, etc. Maybe when I get back to the U.S. and get a new computer or use someone else's.

No, cows are revered because Vishnu reincarnated as a human cow herder called Krishna. Cow is supposed to be his mount. I think that's the reason but I am not 100% sure. No problem and thanks in return.
what month you travelled in Nepal it looks like the Himalayan mountains are still covered with snow.
I was there in April and May.

Are you going to upload for your 30 days of trekking? Will you have Internet?
I'm really not sure about that and am curious to find out the situation. I've been told that there is wi-fi at places along the trekking route, but that it's slow and probably won't work for uploading videos. So there might be a break from the videos for a while. Maybe I can at least record a couple of short clips, in crappy quality so that the files are smaller and then at least post some updates along the way.
Is possible to go to nepal speaking very bad english? I'am brazilian and speak only portuguese, spanish and a little bit of french....
It will make it a lot more difficult if you don't speak any English. Many Nepali people speak English, but almost no one will speak Spanish, Portuguese or French. You can still go there, I don't really no what it will be like though.
Pokara looks a lot better to me than Katmandu. Thanks for posting videos of both of them.

Hey Gabe nice vid mate keep up the good work! You might know this already but the actual abode of Lord Shiva and family according to the Vedic scriptures is mount Kailash...you might want to go trekking there some day if you haven't already done it :)
Yes, I actually talked to someone recently who circumnavigated Mount Kailash and he showed me some photos, it looks absolutely spectacular.
Don't you get sick from eating all the food and drinking all the water from different countries?
I think first couple of days is crucial. U might need to be careful not to drink water other than bottled/distilled.
Well.. you can spend a day cheaper than 24$ .. usually the tourist areas are lot expensive.. Also the people tend to ask for higher price when they see tourists.. So you need to be a bit clever too.. Its better to ask locals about prices or little help to find stuffs..

Great video as always. You probably already know but it's a dusty trek, picking up a mask might be a good idea.
Hmm, good tip, I hadn't thought of that.
+Gabriel Traveler Road dust.
Do you ever use a credit card or do you always pay with local currency?
I almost never use a credit card, I just withdraw the local currency from an ATM and pay with cash.
I was just wondering because I just signed up for some credit cards for travel hacking purposes that have no foreign transaction fees I thought it just might be safer
amafid
That could be a good idea, especially if you get air miles or something. However a lot of places in Asia and other less developed parts of the world, then they don't accept credit cards much, especially the budget hotels and restaurants, etc. But it will work for some purchases certainly.

Gettin' better slowly but surely! The tail end of things, I think I'll be ready for the trek in a couple days, just in time.
How do you get away with filming in so many shops and restaurants? Do the people working there ever ask you not to?
I'll try to do a video soon explaining. Basically I have the camera hanging by the strap around my neck so people don't think I'm filming, it looks like I just have a camera because I'm a tourist.
Great tactic haha, I look forward to seeing your video on it
+Gabriel Traveler I also want to see a video on this. You should do a live q&a or maybe even talk about how Internet access is in all these places

If any vaccinations are needed before going to Nepal?
I'm not certain of the latest requirements, but I don't think so. Just search online for Nepal travel restrictions and you'll find updated info.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Hi Gabriel I mean more about vaccinations against various diseases like hepatitis etc.
