Crown '24 is going to absolutely blast this. They could have made the whole show this piece and been mind-blowing. Can't wait!
14:05 to the end has to be some of the best writing for brass I've heard
I love the percussionists (cymbals) reaction at the final cut-off! You'd never see anyone in a symphony so stoked at a performance! Well done!!
Thank you :)
The percussion midway - wow: thrilling!
there is SO much Joy in the band. Nearly every shot has someone with a smile on his face. Pure joy.
20 minutes felt like about 5. This is the best thing I've heard in a long time. Got that feeling like when you've just finished a movie aha
I have watched this so many times… it’s probably the piece of brass music I have listened to the most, and every single time it makes me emotional. David’s solo parts are unreal. The faces of the other players as he plays says it all. And as the band finishes the percussion players reaction, and then David’s sheer joy and relief after a bloody ripper performance by the whole band. Tears every time
Probably the best contest performance by any band anywhere! Listen and learn....and most of all....enjoy!
I was there...will never ever forget...... Thanks once again Eikanger-Björsvik Musikklag
håkan dem vann ju EM med den låten också det va så sjukt!!

Best contest performance ever might be stretching it a bit.......that accolade still goes to YBS Band at the 2004 Europeans under David King.....just my opinion of course ;) ........but yes, this is a stunning performance from a great band.
You're talking about their performance of Music of the spheres? It's a good perfomance, but nothing compared to this, or even their CD Recording performance of the same piece (which is on RUclips).
Low brass at 14:00 is exquisite! Congrats to David Morton - beautiful playing - stunning!
on 11:00 to
david morton's solo is just unreal, the control is absolutely insane.
One of the most memorable concerts I have ever been to. It's amazing to be able to hear it again and again, and the filming is outstanding. Breathtaking. Emotional. Incredible piece of music played by our local neighbour band ♥️ Eikanger-Bjørsvik
Stunning piece and what a fantastic performance. Band sound is incredible. Brilliant 👏
Just back from Oostende and completely blown away with Eikanger's performance at the European's - TRULY SUBLIME --
same
Robert Stew I was there at Oostende. Truly brilliant. I hope to play it one day!
Those chords at @02:40... The mighty organ of Bergen opens up
Beyond superlatives !..Eikanger are unquestionably one of if not the absolute finest ensembles that's ever been. Decades of just magic performances..👍😁x
Fantastic playing all around! Wonderful performance. I can see why this won it all!
A well conceived piece of music, delivered with absolute mastery- bravo one and all!
Diepe, diepe buiging. Hoe mooi kan ook dit zijn !!!
I was blown away with Eikanger's performance at the EBBC in Oostende 2017. I never saw and heard any comparable live performance before. I keep on listening to this recording a thousand times, but still feel and see this unbelievable joy every time in their faces and my ears !!!
The most amazing test piece ever, and what a performance. Absolutely fantastic, so moving, well done all.
Amazing - So looking forward to this at Birmingham in September - Such brilliant writing for Brassband - Thank you Thierre --
crown COOKIN with this
i love seeing these comments omg 😭
literally cannot wait to hear them play this!!!
A sop masterclass (the rest of the band were outstanding as well), bravo
I wouldn't necessarily have singled sop out for special praise - some very good sop playing (and a couple of imperfections too), but not the standout here for me (and I'm a sop player!), it's not an overly difficult sop part by the standards of pieces of this level.
Carolina crown is gonna absolutely cook with this
Thumbs down? Who gave this thumbs down?! I love Dave Morton. 😘
16:02 soprano entry - sublime. Thank you.
SCV 2019!!
Wow! Just finished listening to this. Could hardly wait to hear and see in their 2019 show. Another Wow! Also, just finished listening to Audivi Media Nocturne by Oliver Waepsi. Another piece from their 2019 show.
Correction to spelling: NOCTE and WAESPI
Now Crown 2024
So many warm sounds witch incredible musicians and solist. And a terrific conductor. So much happiness in this band with smiles on their faces. Love your music and your band. Well done!
Kind regards, Ernest Wils, solo-trombonist.
Største konsertopplevelse noensinne!
I keep coming back to this.
Been immersed in the Brass Band scene since 1960 and thought I'd heard it all from Vinter, Ball etc. Then Fraternity came along.
I was wrong.
This piece grows on me every time I hear it.
I enjoyed playing it... To begin with I didn't enjoy listening to it.
It was only when the story was explained to us that it began to make sense to me - and that deepened the enjoyment immensely... Both to play and listen to!
🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ!
Eitt ord, fantastisk! Takk for at de lasta det opp, mine bøner vart høyrt! 😄

Wow!! This gets better and better each time you hear it!
The second Euphonium has written my band a song that we are going to use in the Norwegian Championships in third division.
2:42 THE LOW E-FLAT!!!!!
Fantastiskt! ❤
Brilliant playing!!!! Bravo
I thank God for sound and vision
Awesome performance, so tight .
Santa Clara Vanguard?
This is really high quality. How does it compare to the english bands - which are extremely high standards? I used to play in Manger by the way
This gives me amazing moments every time I hear it. Any other Brass Band you can recommend?
The Year of the Dragon (Philip Sparke)
The Essence of Time (Peter Graham)
Resurgam (Eric Ball)
if you like it more modern:
Hypercube (Oliver Waespi)
Eden (John Pickard)
Journey of the Lone Wolf (Simon Dobson)
The Triumph of Time (Peter Graham)
Destination Moon (Paul Raphael)
Journey of the Lone Wolf (Simon Dobson)
Electra (Martin Ellerby)
Gaelforce (Peter Graham)
On the Shoulders of Giants (Peter Graham)
This band has a very rich ensemble tone.
Robert Schumann Quote : Composing something real unique is writing down a melody/set of notes that no one else ever had done before.... ♫♪

Oops - fixed!
Hehe, gjorde samme feilen selv på min upload av stykket..! :)
8:33 for all the Crown fans out there
Where is the french horns?
This is a brass band, so there are none
Although French horns are a brass instrument, traditional brass bands don't have French Horns. They are instead used in orchestras.
@@jameskonefal9491 I had one in my brass band
:)

..weirdly. I stand corrected. This did not, somehow!, translate into an awesome Crown show. The opener is amazing, and then it just kind of muddles along with a lot of notes. They're just reluctant to play a nice, full-bodied melody for longer than a few seconds? Why play four notes when you can cram 80 in? I dunno. Had high hopes for this. They're still amazing, but the show is overall not that memorable.

Carolina crown now 😭
For me this lacks the energy and excitement of some I've heard, but still great playing and a great band sound though!
I agree while this is a fantastic performance, I had the pleasure of listening to Whitburn rehearse on the Monday before the Open and found it more exciting, the hairs on the back of my neck were standing on end!! Still a brilliant performance of a stunning piece of music!!
I feel a lot that brass bands at this level go much to much to extremes of dynamics and I don't feel this makes a musical performance.. Its just an athletic type performance... "we can Play louder than you" kinda thing.. Brass bands can play great music. I've been sat in an auditorium thinking the band was playing so loud it was very uncomfortable.. Its not great..
You must hate Rattle conducting Mahler, then...
@@andrewbaker4270 does that make it more musical then.... It needs to be musical not just volume for volumes sake
@@hotdrumman and this performance wasn't "volume for volume's sake". I'm fully aware of the fortissimo arms race you're referring to and I certainly agree that some bands have been prone to razzing the nuts off pieces just because they can - in fact there have been pieces written (for the European Championship in particular) that seem to be purely vehicles for the commissioning band to play louder and faster than everyone else. I just don't agree even slightly that it applies to either this work or this performance of it, which I found to be nuanced and well-crafted, with a clear idea of the overall shape and the emotional arc behind it all. The dynamic range in the performance reflects what's in the score, with zero razz.
Excellent Band pity about the music
Pity the conductor didn't make an effort with dressing and a haircut
Would that have made it more "musical" for you?
Not everyone likes this sort of music. but good luck to them that do. Not to my taste. I find I BORING. D> Thorne. FTCL
