Turbo fan button is also a GPU boost button as well. Has no problem cooling it at all.
yo this laptop has it all for extreme gaming that is amazingly insane
it's still 180W adapter and the connector still the same as the previous models, even works with most of the Asus and Clevo laptops.
Actually there are two mobile Haswell 4700's, the HQ and MQ. The MSI's use the MQ while the Asus' use the HQ. VT-d is enabled on the HQ whereas it's disabled on the MQ, as well as a little faster graphics clock.
the red color chassis are exclusive to Dragon Edition only.
I have the GT70 20C with the 780, and have to say it's surpassed my expectations in about every way. Was so good just went ahead and sold my desktop.
we have option to customize to Win 7 in our system configurator.

I'm a developer and I have to travel too much. I'm using GT70 of 2012 year and it's helping me very much. I always have in a background running a few server virtual machines and if I want to play something in the evening it's not a big deal when you have 16 Gb of RAM on board.

Yes, the SDD is the /C:Drive, the 2.5Terrabyte drive is seperate ad a /D:Drive

Hi, I have 2 questions:
1) How is the transcoding performance in this GT series? I dont think GPU plays an important stance on this. Have anyone tried video and audio transcoding via Premiere, aftereffects, sound forge etc?
2) Whats the max battery life if the GPU is switched off or forced to the Intel's CPU for mild tasks (wifi disabled, internet disabled, bluetooth disabled)? - Mild task like office applications, etc
you would want to connect the AC at all time when play games.
I had the MSI ge60 with the gtx 660m GPU good notebook I I was getting crazy temps on it when playing bf4 the core temperature went all the way up to 92 so I repasted the GPU and the CPU with MX14 didn't make any defrence but it seamed to be able to handle it ok. Running at idle but the temps were in the 30s to 40s which is not bad at all if I get another lappy it will be an MSI over all its a beast for any thing you through at it handles it with ease.
Yeah turning the fan on full should help so i agree with that, and i read a review whereas you own the laptop so your in a much better position then me to say. And congratulations anyway, its too expensive for me lol i'll probably go with a pcspecialist or scan laptop.
left top corner where it says Dynaudio there is something called Turbo to the right, press once and wait.. it should light up, keep in mind when you turn it on you will build heating, then press the one to the right of the turbo key and wait.. your pc should now sound like an jetplane and you get enoyed of the sound and try to sell it lol
I would really love to buy this system. But I was wondering if that boost button overclocks your system.
mine is MSi GT70 Dragon Edition 2 and it doesn't have a turbo mode... i have next to DYNAUDIO a media player icon, then a fan speed increase icon, followed by brightness. next to that is the power button and beside that is airplane mode, some screen icon and a G icon which changes my laptops power settings
That is a beast laptop. It scores better than my i7 3770k gtx580 combo.
Hi, I just checked your NP8290 review, the temp of GPU is almost 80C, much higher than this one. Is that because MSI's cooling is much better than Clevo bareboons? It seems those two machine use the same GTX 780m.

We are MSI authoried resellers listed on their Where to buy.
A review on anandtech showed that the single fan design due to the lack of dedicated cooling is throttling the cpu. Msi should have used 2 fans like everyone else but didn't want to update the design so kept one fan. Now this laptop where the game is cpu intensive is slower then a i7 3630qm and 680m.
so there is no heat issue throttling probably, but what about the psu from the msi? its 180wats, and the 780gtx alone consumes like 122W. so altogether you will have like 200W.

I added a lot other things ( overclocked it , removed bloatware , calibrate screen ... ) and it only added 300$ to whole cost ! This keyboard costs 50$ more , but i would really want to save every cent .
Hi, did you guys have any trouble shipping to India with USPS? How much would FedEx cost for shipping the GT70 2OD?
Hopefully you dont have the dreaded horizontal screen lines that everyone else with the G750s and me included had.
I'm comparing the pricing of two laptops though, the relative price will be higher where you are, but they will still be in proportion meaning that the MSI laptop will still be overpriced.
You can custom build a regular MSI laptop with the same specs as the dragon edition laptop and still save $500+ lol.
I know what you mean though, prices here in the UK are ridiculously higher than in the US too, almost twice as much!
I've just got my MSI GT70 today, and from running the 3d Mark 11 benchmark, I seem to be getting 10% better performance than stock Clevo P170EM 680M laptops. (my current 3d Mark 11 is P7301). Still a way off overclocked 680M notebooks though, but I haven't looked into overclocking yet. Also I'm getting these scores without the fan on full, so if the cooling was an issue I could just boost performance by turn the fan on full?

We are MSI authorized reseller in US.
My point is that you can game on a laptop anywhere, vs. having to go to a certain place to do it. A student could game waiting for his next class, for instance. You have to pay for the convenience, as usual.

I have one question . I'm going to buy my MSI 2OC from XoticPC ( great company and I recommend them ) and they have a lot f customisation options . I changed my display , put new compound , add Cooper cooling . I'm not sure should i change Steelseries keyboard ? So , is stock keyboard on this beast good enough ?
Do you know how does the GT-70's NOS function interacts with a higher power ac adapter? I have a slim 240W ac adapter and if I do get the GT-70 I will overclock the GPU quite a bit.
im gonna be buying the MSI GT70 2OC-050NE. is this the non dragon edition? where can i buy the upgradable part of the CPU and GPU?
From what ive heard the gt780m is underclocked by default and still gets above 90cs temps.
Is it possible for me to purchase a GTX 780M from one of your retailers online? Just the video card.

I did like the design, however the screen issues were too much for me. Plus you can buy a MSI for the same price with the 770M instead of the 765M

one question do you know if the gt70h-80m4811b (1x 8GB Ram, 1x128GB msata) has 0, 1 or 2 empty msata slots.
change the cpu and gpu paste to top 3 products you will get the temp down a bit but its enough, the paste that is from the factory is not good becus in time the paste gets hardened and dosent do enything then building heating.. i recommend to buy laptops that is big and have good airflow, asus have good and Msi is fixing this problem right now as we speak.. the thiner and smaller laptop you get the more problems you will end whit :) have a good day sir

+ms gg, without looking at the laptop or its specs, if it has room for another hdd/ssd then yes you can add another. In my opinion, if the laptop supports two drives, then the best plan of action would be to have one large hdd (750-1000gb) and a smaller ssd (128-256gb). The OS/the primary disc (location of install matters) would be installed on the SSD, this would allow faster start up times and allow faster application use (to ensure its installed 100% on the ssd, do not install the hdd until the operating system is functioning off the ssd, also keep them partitioned separately). Then once these steps are complete, install the hdd as mentioned before and use that to keep your personal files, your larger size games (if you play any), and other larger sized items. The separation of these drives is important and keeping the ssd free for system processes and storage is key. Have a good day!

Some people have jobs and worked hard for their laptop. Also really, if you think this thing is expensive you haven't seen anything yet. The Sager NP9570 fully spec'd out can surpass the 4,000$ mark.
I bought my computer from them!!!! so they are a trusty company :)

you can do whatever you want with the HDD windows is on the 3 SSD on this computer =)

You can get a Clevo laptop (that has better build quality and cooling) with SLI 780M's for the same price as this MSI laptop with a single 780M...
