      I agree with the sentiments about Joel Osteen but, Joyce Meyer does not pastor a church, she holds conferences. She teaches on Christian living and conduct which many need to hear. Her conferences are generously salt and peppered with scripture.

    1) How has this reliable, historical and powerful book confronted you and brought about your salvation? 0:00
    2) I don't want to be the Devil's advocate, but what if I say some people long ago decided to choose some and leave other books - specifically what about the Apocrypha? 2:00
    3) Have you considered differences between source manuscripts that are said to contradict themselves at thousands of places namely the 'Textus Receptus', the 'Majority Manuscript' and the minority ones like 'Codex Vaticanus' which appear to be the ones used by most translations today (I suppose that relates to the KJV controversy versus..) 4:25
    4) Assuming I agree with you the Scriptures are inspired, how can I know that the Bible is complete? What about other books? How do we know that we have all the books that we should? 6:22
    5) What does the Bible say about what is going on at the Middle-East? Is this the end-times? 9:47
    6) A lot of people in Africa follow prophets and miracle workers instead of (or in place of) the Bible. What is your comment on this? 10:36
    7) What should we be doing about the prosperity gospel, the health-and-wealth gospel? Do you think Christians are too harsh on it? Do you think we should be quiet, should we be vocal? What would a healthy response for a church be? 12:52
    8) Your church is down the street from Joel Osteen - is there a time for pastors to name names or are you just supposed to lay down principles and expect people to connect the dots? 14:58
    9) Should Joyce Meyer be a part of our spiritual diet? 16:43
    10) Do we have a place to question people's salvation? Is that fair? Can we call them to examine their faith? 17:57
    11) Is it your job as a preacher to have people walk out of your church on a Sunday feeling a need for re-examining whether they're saved or not? 18:38
    12) If there is one Bible, why are there so many denominations - why are we so fragmented, aren't the Muslims or Catholics unified? 19:35
    13) Should we have different demographic types of churches (black churches, white churches, biker-churches, etc) 22:38
    14) You love family and have written a trilogy of books on that. Care to elaborate why you have such a care for this subject? 23:43
    15) What should the Church's response be to same-sex marriage? 24:56
    16) What is your opinion on 'Pastors of LA'? 29:32
    17) The reality show, 'Best Funeral Ever' - is it a mockery? 33:35
    18) Since you are passionate about cultural apologetics, specifically in the urban context, what do you think of Christian Hip-Hop? 36:36 [answered at 38:50]
    19) Why are women not allowed to preach in the church? What if she feels that she has the gift of preaching? 37:06

    What Voddie says at 17:20 is probably where the most significant crux and contention lies in the present-day American church: When he declares that the 'Prosperity Gospel' is dangerous because IT PROMOTES EXACTLY WHAT OUR FLESH WANTS. My mind immediately runs to 1 John 2:15. I don't necessarily agree with everything he says. But I do admire him for standing boldly and fearlessly for the fundamental truths about the Gospel. God bless...

      Do you think people that never hear the gospel go to hell?

    • @Hannodb1961
      @Hannodb1961 9 лет назад +4

      Ian G YES! Check out Romans 1. Everybody have the knowledge of God implanted in their heart, but is suppressing that knowledge in rebellion against God, so that no one will have an excuse. Therefore, everybody deserves to go to hell *by default*. (Romans 3) However, in His grace, God has chosen to bestow mercy on some people by removing the wicked rebellion from their heart and wash their sins clean. (Romans 9) When you understand that salvation is something God does completely independent of the desire of man (John 1), then this isn't even a question. The only people who have a problem with this are those who have a man-centered theology, where God is answerable to man, instead of the other way around.

    • @ianyboo
      @ianyboo 9 лет назад

      Hannodb1961 the bible is wrong, I don't know that your god exists. If i died this instant and your god existed then it could peek into my mind and see that i genuinely did not know it existed.
      But let's say you were right, that I died and was now bound for hell. I was born in 1982, so in 1980 before I was conceived did your god know that i was going to hell? Does your god know exactly what will happen in the future?

    • @Hannodb1961
      @Hannodb1961 9 лет назад

      Ian G I am not going to argue about the existence of God with you. The fact that God - who created us and knows us inside and out - tells us that He placed the knowledge of God in our hearts, is enough. Every human being knows there is a God. However, I can tell you this: Even if I were to provide evidence for you of God's existence, you would still reject Him and refuse to believe - because "There is no evidence" is usually a handy excuse, rather than a sincere objection. This is what "suppressing the truth of God" means. That is the rebellious sinful nature of man, and we see it right through the Bible: Israel had direct visual proof that God was caring for them, and yet, they refused to trust him. Only when God birth you again and breaks down your rebellious will, will you come to Him. People don't come to God through wise argumentation, but through the Holy Spirit and the foolishness of preaching the gospel (1 Corinthians 1-3)
      Regarding your second question. God created time, He is eternal. He has no yesterday, today or tomorrow, He does not pass through time, He is above time. He is always the same. His is also knows all things. So yes, He knew you before you were even born, and He knew your eternal fate. (Jeremiah 1) I think I know where you're going with this, and I have the answer ready in Romans 9 - but I must warn you: You're not going to like it. If you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question.

    • @ianyboo
      @ianyboo 9 лет назад

      Hannodb1961 okay so if God already knows that I'm going to hell is it possible for me to go to heaven?
      I'm asking this hypothetically, but if you are uncomfortable assuming that I'm going to help we can swap that for heaven in our scenario.
      So instead the question would be if God knows I'm going to heaven is it possible for me to go to hell?
      Or we can even make it something not so dire, we could ask: if God knows I'm going to have chicken fajitas can I instead have steak fajitas?
      These are not trivial questions I'm genuinely curious what your answer is.

    I have enjoyed listening to the Q&A. I am not one to comment oftentimes. One thing I will say is that at the start of minute 33 to 34, Pastor talks about pastoring believers to the grave. Yes, indeed...once we our bodies are void of life. Our spirit lives for all eternity. He speaks as an example of himself that he is dead. I just want to say what words come to me. "My body is dead to sin, but NOW I LIVE!!" Praise our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ for opportunities to hear the true gospel spoken by Godly ordained ministers.

    Absolute truth! I so admire Voddie Baucham and appreciate his devotion to GOD. He is a shining example of what a Christian should look like. I'm not saying I believe Dr. Baucham is "good" and is never wrong. My sights and adoration are on Jesus Christ. But so many people (and one specific baptist church) are damaging Christianity right now, by their words and actions. It's gratifying (for lack of a better word) to hear a true Christian speak. And I don't believe we'll ever see Dr. Baucham rallying at funerals against homosexuals or screaming epithets at abortion clinics. He will be on his knees exhorting GOD, teaching the Gospel, and leaving everything in GOD's hands. He speaks the truth of the Gospel without politics, and I have never heard him spew hatred. GOD bless Dr. Voddie Baucham and his family.

    I love Voddie’s Preaching and teaching, it is always humbling.
    The only critique I have is Hip Hop doesn’t come out of gang culture. Where he grew up is where the gang culture of hip hop grew up and that’s why he thinks that’s where it grew up. It actually grew up in New York. Way before California got to it. And that culture was the party culture, not gang culture. Just letting people know so they won’t think that Hip hop grew up because of gang culture. It became famous because of gang culture and rappers from New York hated it. Said it took the fun out of the music. Just a little history for you all.

    • @samurai_fx4911
      @samurai_fx4911 8 месяцев назад

      @CharaeBChicago And I'd disagree with you. Hip Hop and Rap while very close cousins, the former did begin on the West Coast while the latter had the overall beginning in New York City. When NWA in the early '90s came on the scene, they exhibited everything that Voddie mentioned.
      Yet, I think we are splitting hairs over small details. The Hip Hop genre, that was West Coast, did begin in the gang culture. And it was spread about by those mentioned previously along with other. Nonetheless, Voddie is spot on about the message, the ethos of Hip Hop. It is diametrically opposed to the Gospel. The ultimate point of Voddie.

    • @charaeb724
      @charaeb724 7 месяцев назад

      I don’t disagree with the impact Hip Hop has today. My reason for even going is because if we don’t understand the history we don’t understand how to explain message. People use the Bible to explain cattle slavery or having multiple wives however we know by breaking down the Bible they are wrong to do so. So that’s to my point of using the origins of California hip hop as a reason to discredit hip hop as a whole for Christian rap. Look at its origins from the beginning and make a decision from there. Otherwise we’re operating out of fear and not clarity.

    I really appreciated the comment that stated I can express my opinion because I’m not a white man to be called a racist. I have worked in a culture where white people were the minority, and the prevailing that was that if you were white you were a racist. Where is the tolerance the freedom fighters advocated for and died for in the 1960s? I truly believe that most white people who died in the south for desegregation would have rejoiced at seeing This type of enlightenment and truth.

It depends on the person represented, but if it's a Christian, you can talk about them and still point the audience toward Jesus. Memorials are absolutely one of the best opportunities I know of to witness to my unsaved friends after I die. At my Grandmother's funeral, those who spoke of her really glorified God in the context of how she lived her life and touched each of us. It did not compromise the gospel. I can't believe that's selfish or inappropriate. "Precious in God's sight is the death of one of His saints." If it's precious to God, I think it's okay for it to be precious to us.Secondly, I agree that women should not be in authority over men, but what constitutes taking authority over someone? if I get up and give my testimony, am I exercising authority over a man. If I sing a song that has an exortation, should I sing it?. Should a woman not teach adult Sunday School? If I read a scripture at the podium, am I dishonoring God, acting in authority over the men? Should a woman not pray in public, ever? Where does it stop? If a woman is supposed to "be silent" in the church, do we just sit in the pew and say nothing? I agree women shouldn't be senior pastors or bishops. I think it discourages men from being leaders. I don't think this disputes what the Bible says about women. What about Deborah the prophet? What about Miriam, leading in song aster the Childrne of Israel passed through the Red Sea? What about the women in the book of Acts who formed a prayer group? Were they out of line because no men stepped up to lead the group? What about the Apostle Paul, who said women shouldn't be in authority over the men who mentioned the women who served God alongside him? Was HE out of line? Did he contradict himself? Am I taking authority over a man when I sing? I think God is a whole lot more concerned with why than what. There are, and I think this man would agree, lots of men who are pastors that have no business being in the pulpit, They are living a double life. I am a singer and speaker. I've had men as well as women, come to me in tears and thank me. Have I offended God by speaking in the presence of those men? I am not going to minister in a church who believes women should be silent. I happen to think I "have a gift." and it's not to be tucked away in a closet somewhere. When I stand before an audience of worshippers, I am not and don't intend to take authority over anybody. That is the Holy Spirit's job. Many of us believers take God out of one box and just stuff Him in another, thinking that's godly when sometimes, it's just another form of legalism.

      If you give your testimony to teach or conclude with let us pray, In my opinion, you'd be teaching. if you're simply reading scripture at the podium, you're reading scripture I can read with my eyes as well, you wouldn't be teaching me anything. Where I'm grateful with women teaching, is to our children. In my opinion women can teach children far better than men in most cases. I'm so grateful for the women that take care of & teach our daughter @ Church. They nurture her when my Wife & I are in service & we can take comfort that they're loving on those kids, almost as well as my wife would be loving on & teaching our daughter.
      I would say there's always differences of opinion, & if those are the only things you take issue with, praise God! Voddie is a special kind of preacher for sure.

      Hello, my understanding of what he said was that women should not be in positions of leadership. You said you agree "women should not be senior pastors or elders" and I think that's exactly what he was saying. That doesn't mean they should never speak or give testimony or stand in front of the church, it just means they should not occupy offices of leadership. Of course women should sing in church, read scriptures at the podium, lead Sunday school or Bible study, and so on. Singing in church does not constitute taking authority over a man. I went back and listened to his comments (at 38:13) and in my view he's saying women should not occupy the office of pastor/teacher and that "exercising authority over men" means occupying that office and not simply being in front of the church in some capacity.
      I would also say that if people have come to you in tears and thanked you for something you said that could very well be a good thing but it's not necessarily an indication that what you did was correct. There are lots of things that will win you the praise of others but in the end that's not important. Again I'm not saying that it's necessarily wrong for them to thank you (in many instances I'd say it's a very good thing) but don't let that be a determining factor in the inherent goodness of an action. Anyway that's just my two cents. You clearly have a heart for God and as you said it's the Holy Spirit's job to guide us so as long as we humble ourselves and seek God's purpose everything else will take care of itself. God bless!

      Ashley Hill in the word of Go it says “ faith comes by hearing, the WORD OF GOD” is in Romans. People get saved by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross by hearing the word of God, so it is essential to always read the word because our testimony doesn’t save anybody. Of course after reading a passage of scriptures, then the pastors should explain it and then is our responsibility to search and study more about it. God bless you sister.

    • @DjSostre7

      They both doctrinally are opposite.
      Jennings believe The Father alone is God
      Bauchaum believes the trinity
      Jennings believes belief and baptism for salvation
      Bauchaum believes it's solely by Faith
      Jennings believes in tongues
      Bauchaum does not.
      Bauchaum is a reformed christian.
      Jennings is not. Jennings believes bible colleges are of the devil. Bauchaum went to bible college. And many more things they teach differently.
      You clearly don't know the bible, if you believe they BOTH speak truth. They cannot both speak truth if they disagree on many things. One is right. Voddie is right in my opinion doctrinally.

    I would disagree about not having all the books that were available in the time that the Bible was used by the deciples There are references in the New Testament to the book of Enoch, for example. That being said, I will agree that even though it's not there anymore. That does not hinder or take away from the gospel and the message that we do have still remaining.

      A beat is used in all pagan cultures to lower your metal resistance and to put you in a trance to commute with demons. There is no question that some kinds of beats creates emotional states that are in opposition to the Christian ideal. We should be *very* careful not to imitate worldly music in the church.
      Yes, the Bible speaks of drums, but it never mentions a beat. You *can* use drums in other ways than just rhythmic pounding. I am in complete agreement with Voddie here: We should not try and "redeem" musical forms that was originally created to promote evil. Satan is the one who should be imitating us, we should not be imitating him.

    • @shelleymagnussen1959
      @shelleymagnussen1959 8 лет назад +1

      +Hannodb1961 What if a beat a satanic tribe used resembled classic hymns? There are ministers who use worship music that we sing in our church in the same way. They simply repeat a song over and over again. It's a technique they use in hypnosis and acultic meditation. The same song can be used to glorify God and lull people into an altered state of consciousness. Should we stop using that music too? Isaac Watts's music was considered radical in his day as were many of the hymn writers during the reformation. The Salvation Army was criticized for using trumpets and drums in their music because this type of music was very popular in that day. It was said they compromised too much, trying to be like the world. I mean where do you draw the line? Is God sitting up in Heaven biting His nails saying, "Oh I can't anoint that! Some guru used that style of music to alter the consciences of the hearers. Whatever shall I do???" Satan worshippers use candles. Better bann those too, especially on Christmas Eve. Oh, by the way, Drueds and people of the Shinto religion arrange and display flowers.

    • @Hannodb1961
      @Hannodb1961 8 лет назад +1

      Shelley Magnussen YES ABSOLUTELY, you should stop using that music, it is not Christian at all! Have you not read what Jesus said: _"And when you are praying, do not use _*_meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do_*_, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words"_ - Matt 6:7. What your church does is in *exact* opposition to the teaching of scripture: The repetition of words to lull the mind... just as the pagans do. It doesn't matter what the words say, because your mind is not engaged - as you admitted yourself. Nowhere in the Bible are we called to reach "altered states of consciousness" - it's a wholly pagan idea.
      I'm sorry to say, ma'am, but from just what you described from the music, and the amount of eastern cultic terminology you use, I can tell your church is *not* a Christian church. You probably have a cross in your church, and the pastor would talk about Jesus, and that is probably as much your church have in common with the Bible.
      Ofcause, you are welcome to prove me wrong by giving me a link to your church's sermons, but I bet I already have a pretty accurate idea what it's going to be like. I bet there is no sound exegesis and no preaching of sound doctrine.
