Petrin (Petřín) is a hill in the center of Prague, Czech Republic. It rises 327 m above sea level and some 130 m above the left bank of the Vltava River.

The Petřín Lookout Tower (Petřínská rozhledna) is a steel-framework tower 63.5 meters (208 ft) tall on Petřín Hill in Prague. It was built in 1891. It resembled the Eiffel Tower and was used as an observation and transmission tower. Today, the tower is a significant tourist attraction.
In 1889, members of the Club of Czech Tourists visited the World Exposition in Paris and were inspired by the Eiffel Tower. They collected sufficient money, and on March 1, the tower was built for the World's Jubilee Exhibition. It was finished in only four months. The tower had a lift for six people, first on a gas train and later on, an electric drive. In 1953, a television transmitter was set up in the tower, and the lift was removed. The tube was filled with cables and a power supply. The tower was closed to the public during reconstruction from 1979-to 1992. From 1999-to 2002, the tower was again wholly reconstructed, and a new lift for disabled and older people was installed.

Good evening Vladimir, this was a walk of discovery for me. I did not know you can walk through the Strahov abbey! It must had been closed when I was a you g girl living in Prague.
