... I Agree, I love Mike Ness' voice. I most appreciate singers with unique voices that have a character all their own. As for the character of the man, I have the utmost respect. Here is a man who truly knows & deeply feels what he sings and you can feel it... He reaches deep into your soul when he sings. I overcame the same 'vice' & I have the utmost respect for anyone else who has done the same. This man speaks the truth.
They should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. Im a Buckeye challenging a everyone who has been blessed by hearing this band. I need your vote in 2025. Search your love of rock and roll souls
I’m approaching 62, born in Fullerton a day after Mike. Been a fan since the beginning. We have such different paths in life, but both are successful. I will see Mike and Social D for the first time in April down in Chula Vista.
I'm with ya bro, i was 12 yrs old when my uncle bought me the "Prison Bound" album, and now at age 36, it still sounds just as good as ever. Mike Ness is one of the most underappreciated song-writers of our generation. The guy always cranks out great catchy tunes!
so luv him...n just at that right moment when he leaves u hanging with guitar... n gives a lip snarl...then jams...that's what I luv...every concert I see it n luv him!!!!! very hot!!!
Kelsey Roberts the Roxy album is probably my favorite live recording ever, of any band or genre. I like the versions of their stuff on that more than the studio records in some cases.
were all prison bound weather we do time or not life fucks us all but when them gates open , no matter what country were in, how FUCKING good dose it feel
Saw these guys at Soundwave in 2011 at the same time every body else was waiting to see Slayer on the other stage, turns out they were a no show, meanwhile I was watching these guys tear it up. What an awesome show they put on.
come thu BULGARIA mike YOU ROCK MY LIVE EVRY TIME I HERE YOUR SONG FOR THE LAST 20 yar tank you for steelll playng and sing good bles you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i grew up listening to social d and this song is one of not only mine but my brothers favorites as well kinda ironic considering he is in prison but we used to rip our air guitars as kids to this song and now it reminds me he will be home one day
Mr. Ness Thank you for the legacy that you have made. Been a fan for 25+ and the music means more to me more and more every year. THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL
Thanks for reposting this, I was bummed when they took the only other version of this performance I'd found down! It's a little off fucked off the bat, then turns into my favorite version of the song. THANKS!
IM 50 YEARS OLD NOW AND THE THIRD TIME I WENT TO PRISON HERE IN TEXAS THE NIGHT BEFORE I CAUGHT THE CHAIN TO GO FROM FROM THE COUNTY JAIL TO DO 6 YEARS FLAT I HEARD THIS SONG AND IT MADE WAKE UP AND REALIZE ITS FUCKING TIME TO CHANGE STEVE THIS IS SCARY SHIT.
The best gift my lame ass ex gave me was Social D. 14 yrs ago. I hadn't ever really listened to them before I dated him and he took me to see them live. They were badass and now I love them.
Ha. Same exact story here. Found Social D around 16. Now I'm 32 and Social D is like an old loyal friend. I'll love these guys til I die. Luckily, Mike still finds the energy to get on stage and I catch the show whenever they come around.
LOL Yes... that's the nature of a live show..... love the live reaction and how they seamlessly rolled into the rest of the song perfectly. Social D, Mike Ness, the whole band, fucking rock! Thanks ya'll!!
I'd pay to play and sing alone this song with Mike Ness we would sing it together I would play rge rhythm he would destroy everything with the solo but I'll sing the verses as they were mine but... Wake up only a dream tomorrow school...
Social D is a middle of the pack semi punk band. They've just managed to mostly not die off. They're not great, they're not terrible. They're not fast, they're not slow. They're just there. They're no Ramones, they're no Clash, they're no Black Flag. Mike Ness is not a god. They're just a rock and roll band.
@Nate Sherwood, the beat 'VOICE' ever or the best 'vice' ever?!? 😉 (I'm sure you meant to praise his voice, but ahh... What an interesting 'slip' considering Mike Ness' vice
I believe he's done some time in county jail. One of his huge reasons of getting sober was he was facing prison time for drug charges. I believed he got lucky and skipped the prison and got probation. I think he got sober in '84 and he wrote prison bound in '85.
@dethwisper yeah you mean their stuff before mike got off heroin and the music suddenly changed with the album Prison Bound. They didn't sell out for fame as they still didn't get very famous afterwards. Mike changed his writing based on his drastic changes in his life.
@northropbound i think its the same dude who does the accordion when they do acoustic...although now i think about it...this comment doesnt really help...um...sorry lol
I've been coming back to this video for the last 12 years. The drummer will always be Count Dooku to me.

I had never heard of social distortion till 4 years ago. Since then my fav band. Best obsure band ever!!!!!
They should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. Im a Buckeye challenging a everyone who has been blessed by hearing this band. I need your vote in 2025. Search your love of rock and roll souls
00:32 the pianist smiles, shakes his head like "yeah yeah I know...I fucked up". This is why I love this band

This was the first show I ever went to. I'll never forget meeting Charlie at the end of the show. RIP man.

Is it just me or is the drummer the coolest looking dude in the world

so luv him...n just at that right moment when he leaves u hanging with guitar... n gives a lip snarl...then jams...that's what I luv...every concert I see it n luv him!!!!! very hot!!!
I was 16 when I first heard this song....I'm 32 now...but Social D still rocks face!!! Here's to the good times!!! Cheers Bitches
i like this version better than the original
Kelsey Roberts the Roxy album is probably my favorite live recording ever, of any band or genre. I like the versions of their stuff on that more than the studio records in some cases.
+DREADFUL ARTS - The fact that they play it a little sloppy seems appropriate to me. This puts the original to shame.
were all prison bound weather we do time or not
life fucks us all
but when them gates open , no matter what country were in, how FUCKING good dose it feel
Saw them twice, great band and great time both shows!!
Saw these guys at Soundwave in 2011 at the same time every body else was waiting to see Slayer on the other stage, turns out they were a no show, meanwhile I was watching these guys tear it up. What an awesome show they put on.

Thanks for reposting this, I was bummed when they took the only other version of this performance I'd found down! It's a little off fucked off the bat, then turns into my favorite version of the song. THANKS!

The best gift my lame ass ex gave me was Social D. 14 yrs ago. I hadn't ever really listened to them before I dated him and he took me to see them live. They were badass and now I love them.
This is the perfected version. I really like the organ and arrangement. Top shelf Social D soong. Another home run for Mike Ness and the Boys
Ha. Same exact story here. Found Social D around 16. Now I'm 32 and Social D is like an old loyal friend. I'll love these guys til I die. Luckily, Mike still finds the energy to get on stage and I catch the show whenever they come around.

I've listened to this so many times the intro sounds ok!

5 people should be in prison forever
has mike ness ever been to jail? ive been wondering and cant find an answer
I believe he's done some time in county jail. One of his huge reasons of getting sober was he was facing prison time for drug charges. I believed he got lucky and skipped the prison and got probation. I think he got sober in '84 and he wrote prison bound in '85.
Quite possibly my favorite vid on youtube....
@dethwisper yeah you mean their stuff before mike got off heroin and the music suddenly changed with the album Prison Bound. They didn't sell out for fame as they still didn't get very famous afterwards. Mike changed his writing based on his drastic changes in his life.
@isch1234567 Yeah, I think it's a monitor problem between guitarist and piano man, because when Mike starts to sing all it's fixed up..

@northropbound i think its the same dude who does the accordion when they do acoustic...although now i think about it...this comment doesnt really help...um...sorry lol
