    I miss those analog TV signal days already. Back when you could pick up faint signals but still get a snowy picture and sound... This digital crap we have today doesn't work at all most of the time in remote areas. It's a racket by the FCC (CRTC here in Canada) to force us to use satellite or cable and pay for something that used to be free (paid by our taxes). Damn governments.

      I know, though I never truly used analog over the air too long before they (the U.S.) switched over in june 12th of 2009 here in the U.S., I got a over the air antenna shortly before the switch, but, I think that analog would/could be better then digital. Like you mention, digital is a pain in the neck, not much better then satellite, with getting choppy with weather -_-, I read a comment on another video regarding the switch over in 2009, and it mentioned about that digital is a step backwards, having to use MORE power to send the signal out farther.

      AlainHubert Analog tv did have advantages when it came to rural areas and fainter signals as you could still get enough of a picture and sound to be still watchable. With digital, it’s tends to be either a prestige signal, blocky unwatchable picture, or nothing. The advantages with digital are that it’s picture resolution and sound quality are far better then analog tv, with 1080p HD channels (even 1080i, 720p, and 720i are all superior to analog 480i) and up to 5.1 ch. surround sound. The other big advantage, for those in or near major cities is that you get so many more free channels as you can have multiple sub channels for every digital main channel. Plus, if your TV or ATSC converter box supports it, you get a electronic program guide. So for someone like me in a major metro area who dropped cable tv the DTV switchover was big boon. Maybe I’d feel different if I live in a more rural area though.

    I got a tv like that! It was made in August, 1984. I got it from my great uncle. Some reason the speaker doesn't work at times and a little tap and it working again. I just bought a adapter so I can hook it up to the cable box. Yours it really good!

    Just got one of these thanks to this video! Waking up to the TV instead of radio or a buzzer is rather novel. If anybody needs help getting a picture, you use the external antenna jack in the back that uses a coax to 1/8th inch mono headphone jack converter. You can check ebay or anywhere else for them.

TV/Radio reception was actually pretty good. Someone borrowed it in early 2009 and the radio tuning mechanism broke. Still powers up, but without radio tuning it's useless now. Sucks,

    The latest game console I have hoked up to this model of Clock/TV/Radio is a PS3 using RF cables from a PS1. Looks very fine tuned and high definition for a 4:3 Black and White CRT TV of that size. You can still stream RUclips on a PS3 so be able to watch your channel on it till the near future. Mine is baby pink that has now gone butter yellow and was branded by Boots Pharmacy for the UK and Ireland market. It also uses a National Panasonic CRT in side which explains the perfect picture quality.

    • @Charlesb88
      @Charlesb88 6 лет назад

      michael and dustin mclain truman in some larger cities in the u.s. they exempted some low power tv stations from the digital switchover meaning that some people can still tune in an analog station or two in their local area. Where I am in the San Diego area you can pick up a couple of analog Spanish tv stations from over the border in Mexico. Also, you can still get inexpensive digital to Analog tv converter boxes that would allow you to watch DTV (ATSC) singles on an old TV like this one. You’d also get the advantage with such a setup of being able to tune via a remote vs the manual dial on this tv but at the expense of taking up more space though not much more, width-wise at least.

    I still got one of these somewhere laying around it's just kind of funny cuz it's things older than I am I didn't even know was made in 84 I was born in 85 LOL but at times when I was poor and had very little space and very little stuff for myself I would use this TV time the time her quite a few things in it very much came in handy cuz one thing you did not point out about it is that in the back of the TV there is one of those AV headphone jack things well actually now that I think about it I don't think it was built then I think it was just the screws and then you would have to either add on your own antenna or cable connection of your choice that was available at the time which at that time I don't think there was a AV one I think you had to get converters to do all that don't say you had old TVs or around back in those times probably would know what I'm talking about with the old TV that did not have the hook up for a cable wire and the closest thing they had or the screws that you can either put a homemade antenna on a regular antenna on or the cable connection. so like I was saying I had that thing hooked up pretty crazy like and about as ghetto as you could. and had the TV connection screwed into the back of it then from there I had it screwed into a VCR from there I had the AV on the back of the VCR which only gave me one speaker and the video and then from there I would sometimes just watch VHS tapes or I would hook up with DVD player to it or sometimes of a new game system and as time went on I still have this and the last time I used it by that time HDMI was around so I had to hook it up like I was saying before with the VCR and then I had to get a AV to HDMI adapter look up today's technology to it. it just makes me laugh after seeing this that iced use it that way and it was crazy that I could use in that way cuz it was a little black and white alarm clock TV from the mid-eighties and I was surprised myself that I was able to do all that with it I just hated it was black and white and it had a small screen but I can't complain too much for a poor man's home theater LOL it did the job and as much as it sucked it kept me occupied for hours and hours and save me a lot of boredom.

      As sad as it may be, there is just not much demand for it anymore. Most people nowadays don't even have a dedicated alarm clock anymore, because they use their phones as alarm. This was practical back in the day where you consume most of your media from television and FM radio. Now, most people use Spotify, RUclips and the Internet to get daily information.
      But at least these things can be found pretty easily, and cheaply in the US, apparently. They seem pretty cool to me, but I haven't seen them in my country and I have too much stuff here.
