    A friend and I were in that very cave during a high surf day, it was dry when we went in. All of a sudden a four foot high surge of water came in and filled the cave completely and we were under water. After a few seconds the water receded and we were able to get back around the small point. We had just smoked a joint , when we were safely outside we laughed it off, and felt reborn again.

    Went to the sea caves as a kid..never forgot them, though they were a dream..never found them again. When I went as a kids and the sea walls had hundreds of colored starfish..still one of the most amazing things I ever saw..thank you so much for sharing.

    I went there twice in 1968. One time there was only about 3 feet above the sand floor so had to crawl in and out. The other time it was full of sand with only a few inches open.
    One story went that the cave was used during WW2 as a shelter for coastal observers watching for enemy ships and submarines. I doubt it though, a much more comfortable shelter safe from high tides could have been put together up on the bluff using an Army tent and local scrub branches. Plus the higher location would give a bigger viewing area and better radio communications if that was used. Still would have had plenty of rattlesnakes up there though.

      Melissa A,
      Yes it's on South Vandenberg AFB, but if you were in the water right there I don't think they could arrest you for trespass. They will, however, suggest that you leave in a most convincing manner.

    Also, I think since this video got popular locally, they've been keeping a closer watch on people going outside the designated beach area. I even saw horse droppings and hoof prints at Surf recently, so they probably have some asshole patrlling down the beach on a horse now.

  • @tweetysoprano

    I think this video is great. However I feel that you should not make it public. Too many people will be going out there and it will ruin the magic. I have been there many times and I love it here. But now this vid is going viral. It should only be shared with hiking groups, people who care about the environment. Imagine all the dumb people who will be out there and ruin it! Just my opinion. It's one of my favorite places and I will be so sad to see it crowded and ruined. Thanks for listening.

    • @Flying90
      @Flying90  9 лет назад +7

      Yeah I absolutely understand where you're coming from! If you check out my other videos you can tell they don't get anywhere near as many views as this one did, and I didn't expect this one to blow up! It got the 4k views in a few days lol. You're right about the chance for less than great people to go out there but the video isn't for them, it's for the people who might not be physically able to make the trek to see something awesome or have some disability preventing them! So it's like what do you do? I mean let's be real would you have known about the sea caves before the video? I've asked some long long time locals if they've ever heard of them before and they had no idea what I was talking about

    • @calibros6543
      @calibros6543 8 лет назад +1

      i was thinking the same thing, but a little different like if to many people go down there it could crack anyday, just my opinion :0

    • @Filmwithpurpose

      These caves are on federal land and not everyone is allowed access unless you have a military ID or a spousal ID or you are a kid to someone in the military who has access to Vandenberg USAF base. Just a lil FYI 😊

    • @garthfarkley
      @garthfarkley 4 года назад

      @@Filmwithpurpose Surf Beach is definitely on Vandenberg AFB but it seems to be open to the public. The signs say not to go south past the signs during Snowy Plover season March to Sept. I'm going this weekend to watch Falcon 9 and I'll see how far I can go south.

    • @garthfarkley
      @garthfarkley 4 года назад

      Scratch that. I just read that Surf Beach is "always closed" during launches from SLC-4E. Duh. The Spacex launch and LANDING pads are about .6 miles due east and a couple hundred feet up on these cliffs. What a show if you could be on that beach. I guess you can park 3 mi north to watch, but hills will obscure the liftoff. Same with the booster hoverslam. I assume we'll see some burn but won't see it stick the landing (or go RUD God forbid).

    Don’t worry the real ones have already been there and done that. It’s all these local celebrities bitching about too many people “knowing” about it, and by doing so they perpetuate it even more. Lompoc aka kooksville USA
