  • An explanation of this video: Scratch (as you may or may not know) is a programming language which is aimed at kids between 8 and 16. It is a block-based visual language and in it, there are music blocks (or noteblocks) that play notes and drums. There are only 21 instruments and 18 drums so lots of workarounds and substitutions had to be made to make this project work (such as the absence of the pipe organ and tom tom drums). Sorry if it lags a little, I recorded on my phone since it lags the least on there (my computer sucks) and Scratch noteblocks are just laggy no matter how good your pc is (I used turbowarp and it still lagged). Here is the original project:

Btw I am lithium579 so don’t say I stole this
    P.S.
    Extra info about scratch noteblocks:
Scratch noteblock’s samples don’t loop, so you can’t hold a note longer than the original samples length. If you want a note to last a long time, you have to keep playing it.
There is no reverb, so it has to be made artificially, and that’s hard to get the timing because for some reason, scratch doesn’t like when you play two notes at the same time with the same instrument at different volumes.
Scratch doesn’t let you change a notes volume while it’s being played.
The weirdest thing of all: scratch used to have a different soundfont made up of free midi instrument samples, and they do everything I mentioned above (except for the reverb). It lets you change volume in the middle of notes, it lets you play a note as long as you want, and it doesn’t have randomly quiet instruments (something I forgot to mention about scratch’s current soundfont). The only downside is that the drums are way too quiet, barely audible when notes are being played, even at max volume (or velocity).

It’s been a while, so if there are any new viewers, check out the scratch project. It’s been updated many times and has lots of improvements that make it better, so go check that out. Link in description
