A million thanks from someone who is totally inept at any kind of mechanics for your crystal clear explanations of each part's function. Your humour, eloquence and clarity of expression combine to make your videos a total joy to watch (!).
I love these little springs: So many hours spent on four feet on the floor searching them or searching in that parts which spring could be adapted to replace the lost one.😬
@@havana4648 I knew this one would come! It is just a literal translation of a German saying "auf allen Vieren (or vier Füssen)", more or less. Maybe " on all fours" would have been better, but I don't really know if that is English.

Nice restoration . I find hairs in all kinds of places too. Can’t believe I’ve not seen your channel before. I’ve been doing this on RUclips for 5 years and I thought I knew everybody! Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub, Mike! There are new watch channels being started every day, or so it seems :) I've been following you for a long time as I'm also a Seiko enthusiast and really enjoy your videos. Good to see you're back in the saddle, how is the health scare coming along? Stian
@@VintageWatchServices humbled you know me and my little channel ! Health is pretty good. Better on that on Wednesday I got the all clear of cancer!! @@VintageWatchServices thanks. Only way is up. Be sure to have regular health checks my friend especially prostate if you are 45+ silent killer. Think I am going to enjoy your channel!
A very enjoyable and informative video, with excellent photography. It's great to see how 'oddball' watches such as this one work as you take them apart and then re-assemble them.
I like this watch. I think that you made the servicing look easier than it really is. There are a lot of interacting parts. Interesting history too. I was thinking that the hairs were arm hairs pulled in through the winding stem, I must shave my arm before I wear my watch in future.😁
Thanks for another video, this is indeed a good looking watch! I must say that I particularly look forward to the sound effects you use when dropping case parts into your Elma 9 to 1.
I really like the single spring for two correctors in the competitions. I think it was a very elegant conservation on materials and space. The brand has a very nice simple design.
Great Restoration of a lovely vintage model which is brought back to it's age Long but nice vlog loved every passing minute Best Wishes Always 💐💐💐👍👍👍👌👌👌
ahh the caliber HA1R135T, more common than you would believe! another great video Stian, always enjoy both the service, and the history of the piece in your videos
Wow... what a great looking watch...and another fabulous restoration. Crazy that so much hair/debris has penetrated the watch.. But maybe as you suggested., the hands may not be original and whoever was there before, wasn't careful of leaving stuff behind. Love the piece..and your work. Kudos
That day date moonphase module looks like a really simple and effective solution to add to the basic movement. I hope the great minds that created this weren't lost to the watch world when the company closed. Mind you they could have set up a barber shop. Thanks for another educational and funny vid Stian.
A good humoured all inclusive view into the your watch world , rascals and all 😁. Always look forward to the slow Mo shots of the parts into the fluid, really nice touch ...
This was a fascinating video, Stian, especially how you explained the relationships between the wheels in the triple complication. The engineering ingenuity in finding the simplest ways to achieve complex functions is remarkable. It is one of the fundamental qualities of vintage watchmaking. Btw, do you deduct from your assistant's wages the price of the pilfered ice cream sandwiches?
Thanks Bullnose! You're spot on that finding the simplest solution to complex problems is the essence of good watchmaking. And yes, it's basically a zero sum game. The scarcely paid child labor I encourage is balanced by them buying stuff with their earned money that I would otherwise have given them for free 😁
I enjoy watching you work on the watches so much: I have started a watch collection and I am in the prosses of ordering a time gaffer along with some other watch tools...
Looking for missing springs sounds like fun. Not that I wouldn't know... What a nice dial, too bad it was hiding behind a privacy glass! I used to lose lots of small stones but I invested in black rubber mat tiles around my cabbing and faceting machines, stress levels dropped as soon as I installed them. 😅
Thank you Stian for the video. Just love triple date and date pointer watches. And a moon phase on top of it. Wow what a great looking watch. And very informative and detailed video. Thank you again.
Around the 38 min mark it looks as if there are straight scratch on the wheels in proximity of each other when you were adjusting them. Also I believe around the 7 min mark they weee also visible. Just a thought.
Very nice Stian. Even if you said that is very straight forward to reassemble it , I have found so fascinating with all those complication to put together . This can be recap with your huge professionalism and experience in what you’r doing for living . Beautiful watch . Those are the one I like . Ciao
I love the concept of the monthday around the edge of the dial, and I wish more watches used this style instead of a little square window with a number in it.
The brand that's still doing it in the modern times is Oris with their Big Crown lineup. Otherwise there're the watches that use the Valjoux 7751 movement. Really great stuff.
Good video man, as always. Informative, interesting and awesome to enjoy the interaction with the rascals 🤣 Hey, one moment, thought you had something special for me 🤨 😁 Keep banging these clips out 👍
I like your videos and your sense of humor very much. The result is that I got fascinated with the vintage Chronographs. That much that I ended up buying a vintage Chronograph on eBay 🙃, I hope it was a good idea as I have only very limited knowledge of watches. Thank you and greetings from Berlin.
That's cool to hear! Buying a vintage chronograph on eBay with limited knowledge of watches can be somewhat risky, but I hope it works out well for you :)
THANK YOU; I finally saw the technique to remove the Wheel that connects to the axis of the central seconds hand. Many times I damaged not only the wheel but also its axis.....!!!!!!
Hi Stian great video as usual mate, i'm enjoying the Felsa movements i got from ebay, that Pierce is a lovely watch again, i look on ebay and other places for watches with movements i haven't serviced/fixed to get better i hope, cheers for another excellent video Stian. Dave 🇬🇧
I'm happy to have seen this video. I didn't feel that I could handle servicing a triple calendar moon phase movement, but now I think I can tackle one. Chronographs, not yet...
As always entertaining and educational, love your videos Stian! 😊 Har nettopp begynt høstferien og da er det deilig å slappe av med en nerdevideo, som kona kaller det. Gir inspirasjon til å starte opp igjen på et par prosjekter som har gått litt i stå. 🙏🏻🤩
Thanks for the stream Stian. Love your story about Pierce. I almost bough one similar couple of months ago but didn't get the price right. Refurbished dial as well. Cousins have now 10ml Fixdrop with integrated basket for 25 quid
Another excellent and hairy video Stian and coping with all those hairs. Maybe the last watch repairer had just had a haircut. I haven't heard of Pierce brand before. I have a Movado watch from 1955 with triple calendar but no moonphase. I just stare up at the sky hoping to see the moon's state without bird poop dropping in my eye You could ask your kids to search for watch screws that you've inadvertently dropped on the carpet and reward them with 2 kroner for each screw they find.
That's a really nice vintage watch. Looks like it was keeping pretty darn good time too. I wonder if that's one of the earlier watches to use that form of date display around the outside with the quarter moon looking indicator on a hand. I've seen it on some more modern high end watches certainly.
Thanks for watching! The crescent tip is a pretty common way of displaying the date in triple calendar watches, simply to give enough space for the weekday and month. And it looks very cool on watches without the triple calendar also :)
I was left this watch by my grandfather when he passed and it takes pride of place in my collection. Wish I knew of someone I could trust to service and clean it.
I had a Pierce 1 Button Chronograph a couple years back and sold it because although it was clean it would run and stop. Hopefully the buyer was able to restore it as well as VWS did here.
Another great video Stian, thanks so much. I see the simple logic behind the triple date now, this gives me a little confidence to take on a Framont triple date I have here - nice watch, accurate to within seconds a day but the day and date are reluctant to move properly. This will no doubt be one of those things where afterward I will wonder what all the fuss was 😀
Mechanical watches are entirely logical indeed, you just sometimes need to really have a deep lok before you see it. But once you do, it will be an epiphany :) Good luck with your Framont, Alan!
Thank you for a gorgeous video on a very beautiful watch. Just watched a video by Nekkid Watchmaker on an another totally unknown brand - Roamer Stingray?! - and am flabbergasted by the quality and looks of some of these unknown brands.
