I actually got to work on this movie with these ladies. It was so much fun. I trained the skaters and helped choreograph stunts. Drew is as cool as you'd hope she would be. I have a daughter now, and she's old enough for me to share this with her. I'm excited.

Drew's laugh at 1:17 is one of my favorite parts of the entire movie. I secretly wish she didn't direct it so we could have seen more of Smashley. She was hysterical!
I searched for this to see my friend's face again. She was Drew's stunt double in the movie. She's also the first Roller Girl you see skating into the store with flyers. She passed away this week and there's a big ol Texas-sized hole in Austin's heart since she left us. Her name was Chloe and she was a LEGEND. She was so excited about doing this movie.
I came after seeing on Instagram that she’s passed away. That scene was burned in my mind from seeing this movie in my late teens because I thought those girls were SO cool. I joined roller derby and played for a while. Sending lots of love from England xxx
Oh that’s so sad!!! This movie made such an impact on me as a young girl, living in Texas, and being into indie films. I am just glad that her memory will live on because of how active she was within her own community in Austin, and by being able to show that through this movie. RIP!

I'm the left handed judge on the left hand side of the screen. It was really a wonderful experience to work on a major Hollywood movie set and it was great rubbing shoulders with Drew Barrymore, Ellen Page, Marcia Gay Harden and Danial Stern. I've heard from quite a few skaters that derby was more like that in the mid-2000s (I skate with Minnesota RollerGirls' rec league and have heard a lot about how rowdy and aggressive MNRG was in the early days). But these days? Yeah. SO MANY GROSS MISCONDUCT PENALTIES.
Good film. Ellen Page has 'come out' of the 'closet' apparently. I don't have a 'closet' I have a built-in 'wardrobe'. In which I keep Christmas decorations and other such 'sundries'.
An extremely generic and sanitized take on roller derby and teenage growing pains. Everything in this movie is so safe and predictable, it's hard to believe it's a Searchlight film. Was expecting something so much more.
