    Fantastic interview
I worked on the Bucc on 237 ocu in the 80s at Raf Lossiemouth.
I’m now 60 and my latest venture is to turn a real Bucc into a vr simulator for the general public in Scotland.
    Regards
    Dave from Fife

Love that gentleman he was the reason I joined the RAF I never got the chance to be aircrew I was a fireman and proud of my trade I knew if they were in difficulties we would get them out safely I wish I had the chance to meet and talk to them on a one to one conversation

It would be a bit of a shift in direction BUT the fire crews and rescue bods and others generally keeping things flying and dealing with the consequences of '💩 happening' on aerodromes could be an interesting background to the 'main event' of flying?

Great interview! The Buccaneer is clearly the jet equivalent of the Mosquito. Cockpit surprisingly small for such a big machine though.

You can hardly call the Buccaneer a beauty but she has lots of character. Hopefully Airfix will catch some of it in their soon to be released kit. Thank you for another good story!

While at Macrihanish, we had a Buccaneer land with the canopy smashed to bits with a bird strike, the problem was the top ejector handle face blind was tangled up in the canopy ,if the pilot had opened the canopy the seat had a good chance of going off as I marshalled it in stopped him and pointed to the pilot to look over his head, he looked and went white, we got an armourer from the bomb dump two gantrys one either side me and another guy held his legs while we lowered him head first into the cockpit to put the rocket pack pin in, only then did we untangle the ejector handle and open the canopy, the handle was only an inch from activating the seat, Crash and smash repaired the plane new seat, and canopy . Pilot was very happy to get out so was the navigator.

A proper all British aircraft nothing to touch it and built in East Yorkshire NATO should have got these, thanks for another great interview anyone that wants to see these beasts close up and running go to Brunty or York’s air museum when they run and taxi them👍

NATO had them for years. You do know the UK is part of NATO? There's no NATO Airforce outside of those of the member nations, so they couldn't be more NATO than they were.

An F16 pilot once said to take out a buccaneer at 580 knots and 100 feet was relatively simple..but when the buccaneers dropped to 10 or 20 feet the had 2 second to get a lock as at 4 they would hit the ground..
