    Me and my partner stayed in this one before Covid for 4 nights and we never left the resort lol. This is one resort we will never ever forget. It just smacks itself in your memory and stayed there. Will want to go back and bring friends, just to let them experience it themselves. Btw, I took out some of the books off the shelf at the lobby, thinking they are fakes but they are not lol. The Pink Pearl’s private dining room upstairs are all over the top and elegantly crazy like the main dining room.
    We had a green colour twin bed room on 3rd floor and it was much more spacious and a better layout. The balcony with its sofa looking out into the sea was very cosy.

    I have been there twice, but it's still very exciting to watch your video. I like the way you lead people to experience everything even though it is good or bad. As a Vietnamese, the property is our pride. I do not really like the details which are kind of too busy, but I love the vibe and the environment there, the beach is really nice and the buildings are so elegant to match with the curve of the white sand beach. You are excellent hotel-story teller. Thank you very much for being an ambassador of Vietnamese tourism.

    We left the resort a day early is spite of the beach looking beautiful, there isn’t a fish in there, not anywhere, even by the rocks. When you think you saw sea life, that’s just another plastic bag or piece of trash. The food gets old quickly. The rooms are filled with dust if you look up high, you’ll be mortified. No door for the bathroom, just a curtain. Oh, and the soap in that bathroom is the blue pump soap that is featured in any gas station.

    Wow, never expected this to be a JW Marriot property! From the moment you entered the grounds I got Hotel de La Coupole vibes and no surprise as it turns out to be another Bill Bensley design. I can imagine for some people it maybe too much out there, but I love the originality and quirkiness but at the same time class and style it exudes. It’s just so different from most of the cookie cutter designs. It’s a true experience, yes maybe the Regent is better, but to me this personally feels more special. Thank you, absolutely loved this review!

    I stayed at the JW and IC on Phu Quoc over Christmas and New Years. We stayed at the JW first and it was complete different experience to IC. The JW felt warm and the service and people working at the JW were very friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. Compared to the IC, where the main area, besides the Club Lounge, felt always overcrowded and was so noisy, due to many familys with kids. We regret that we stayed first at the JW and then at the IC. The JW is complete different world compared to the IC. Fantastic Hotel!

    For me, the Intercon in Danang will always be Bensley’s best property in VN. From the design, the details, the paintings, the door knobs, the storyline, all the mysterious corridors, the black and white and especially the toilets. Although his style can sometimes be seen as tacky, for me the Danang property is his most elegant work with true Vietnamese inspiration. It was meticulously designed. The cliff terrain also helped. Later Bensley’s properties have become a bit…too much.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  5 месяцев назад +1

      I find that his properties depend a lot on the target price point. Properties meant to go for under $350, basically under this JW are where I find they start crossing into tacky land. Thanks for watching 🩴

    • @ng2minh93
      @ng2minh93 5 месяцев назад

      @@tfftTrue. The Legacy Yen Tu though maybe his next best property. It is a MGallery with a cheaper price point with the design being a bit more balanced. Maybe itself being adjacent to the oldest monastery in VN also helped 😅

      Renting a self drive car in Vietnam is not advised (and very rare) unless you already know the flow of traffic here. Basically if you’re comfortable to ride a motorbike here then you’d be okay in a car. If not, I promise anyone would have an accident in the first hour.

I prefer the Marriott, because, although ‘fake’, it puts me more in the country I am in (or continent) than the ultra-sleek modern minimalist Regent, where already I dislike the 2 skyscrapers they have built. my wife and i stayed here before covid and really enjoyed it. it really is a beautiful property though the "twee factor" does get a little overbearing. also, at the time, the breakfast buffet ranked up there as the best we had ever enjoyed anywhere. it's interesting to see marriott's portfolio of hotels in vietnam growing but also how different the properties are. for example, there is simply no comparison between this JW and the new (-to-marriott) renaissance hoi an which is the most boring hotel ever conceived. as always, enjoy your work -- keep it up!

    • @tfft
      @tfft  5 месяцев назад +1

      Most of that recent disconnect is simply the fact that Marriott took over many (too many) Vinpearl properties- most of them branded as Sheratons now. The one in Hoi An I was at once years ago as a Vinpearl and agree it is literally the most uninspired housing block that happens to have a pool I've ever seen.

    • @pauls1225

    I don’t know … having an issue with the design of extra pools is like getting a free extra dessert in a restaurant and grieving about the portion size. 😊 I actually was happy that you indicated the shell pool was not the only pool on the property. Also I wish more of the big super chains had unique features like this property instead of offering the Generic Resort type look.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  5 месяцев назад +2

    Excellent video of a property I was not familiar with. I can't get my head around the "theme" for a beach resort. I quite like it but I am partial to anything by Bensley. Having been to the IC Danang (same designer and owner) regularly except during Covid, that property requires a lot of upkeep and the quality of some of the material is meh. The rooms while very large have also a not so practical use of the space which seems to be an issue you have also experienced here.

    • @tfft

    I assumed this was seasonal, but you say the beach was pristine, and must have been there in January?
    Perhaps it's just the luck of the draw, might have been a recent storm or something...
    Maybe that's why most resorts are on the other side of the island, away from the main land. Had no such problems at vinpearl immediately after.

    the design is chic, the rest was terrible, I just returned from this hotel. service is 0, the sea is dirty, a bunch of garbage layouts, tiles are falling off in the pool. the room was not cleaned when we checked in, they give us tea in bags for breakfast, we can’t bring our own yoghurts, and the staff is always absent.

    Just very curious want to kindly ask you why you are always staying and filming your hotel vlog in the whole Asia but perfectly circumvent China, even there is no single hotel video filmed in Hongkong, please do come to Hongkong and even China mainlaid to experiece some of the best urban luxurious hotels in the world, I would say half of them are better than all of the urban hotels you have films in this channel. Don;t get me wrong, I really Iike your channel, you are filmming in a way that no other can compare. Maybe you think is hard to get into China mainland, feel free to use 144-hour foreigner transit visa. Afraid of being in China, never trust western media who always demonize China, just literally search some vlog of China filmed by Western, all of them are surprisingly shocked by what is the real China present to them. Not to mention, China is the biggest hub of luxury hotels with resonable price, please come to China to film your own story in the channel. If you need any help like confuse about which hotel you want to choose, feel free to reach out to me I can give you a list of hotel that deserve to stay with confidence. Anyway, really like your channel always supporting you, althoght feelling a bit disappointed as you missed the gem of the Asia!!

      I plan and book my travel a full year in advance. China opened to the rest of the world extremely late which had a knock on effect and even still now the limited capacity of their airlines makes their fares absurdly expensive- so I am waiting for their market to get back to normal- definitely not before 2025. Hong Kong might be a bit sooner. Thanks for watching 🩴

      @@tfft Thanks for reply. The flight tickets I bought for a round-trip from Paris to Beijing with Air France last month, only costed me 800 Euro, it has already back to the price when it was before covid, and actually Chinese luxurious hotel isn't that expensive. Right now this year, it's a great timing to go to China

    • @tfft
      @tfft  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, for Europe it's a bit difference since they 'chose' to put all of their availabile capacity back to Europe before going south or east. They're covering all of Europe but can barely make a daily service to LAX lol. That lack of competition in the US is driving prices up globally.

    Please do not say 'best resort in Asia'.
