    This was great! Very helpful. I recommend sleeping on pillows to keep your weight off your shoulder and wearing an arm sling to let it heal if you have this.

    Hi my MRI shows both SLAP and bankart tear. One surgeon suggest to just repair the Bankart the other Surgeon suggest to only repair the slap using bicep tenodesis. The bankart tear is from 3-6 o’clock. Why wouldn’t they repair both? And why do you think one is saying something different than the other? I am in a lot of pain even when not using the shoulder. I dislocated it either partial or fully 4 months ago. Looking forward to the response Thank you!!

    I’ve dislocated both shoulders a total of 11 times combined. I’ve had surgery on both of them. This was well explained. Any tips for the posterior glide? Post surgery going into the “throwing” motion is difficult and tight. Which is probably a good thing because that means the labrum anchor is doing it’s job. Are there back exercises that can help facilitate more range of motion even with the anchors in?

      @@Heffey02 which lesion was it? has it dislocated again after the surgery and is it back to pre surgery levels like on a percentage scale?

    • @Heffey02
      @Heffey02 6 месяцев назад

      @@smear7411 They were Bankart lesions caused by dislocation. I suffered from instability for many years on both sides of my body. Idk why exactly. Could be genetics, or lack of muscle/freak injuries when I was younger. Most likely it's a combination of all of the above. I think I first felt a dislocation when I was a teenager. After you dislocate once, it becomes easier and easier because of the damage caused to the labrum. I have anchors in both of my shoulders now. I had surgery on my left approx. 12 years ago. Surgery on my right last year. I have not dislocated either since the operations. I would say percentage-wise I'm only about 70-75% from what I was prior. However, that completely depends on your criteria. It seems I'm far more stable than before which was the goal, because going through life dislocating shoulders out of nowhere simply wasn't an option. However, in terms of the range of motion, I still can't throw very well, or hold a bar behind my head, (as if I were about to do a squat) for example. It's hard to tell if the anchors are holding me back, or if I just need to develop my rotator cuff more. Admittedly I don't work out as much as I should but I deal with pain, stiffness, and discomfort if I'm not micromanaging it every day. It's just part of my existence and it sucks, but it's better than the alternative in my case. I hope this helps, lmk if you have any more questions.

    I was diagnosed with both of these and had surgery in my left arm. Unfortunate enough, I believe I just tore my labrum again... used both tests to figure out I have a bankart lesion. I did not get surgery the first time this happened and waited 5-6 more times to “retear” my shoulder till the doctor realized I needed an MRI instead of an X-ray... I don’t want surgery again and hopeful PT will suffice

      You can heal a bankart tear without surgery?

    • @dryftyr4877
      @dryftyr4877 2 года назад

      @@Fast_Eddie_ A few factors can come into play before needing surgery - A PT can help to hypothesize the diagnosis of a bankart lesion or slap tear and depending on the severity of the lesion, it can be treated conservatively with PT. A suspected lesion should be assessed with special tests that he mentions in the video and with other tests of gross strength, passive and active range of motion, and whether or not the patient is still able to participate in their normal activities with regards to their pain levels. Hope this helps, but ultimately, not every tear will need surgery, even if it compromises the stability temporarily
