- In this video we explore #BocaChica beach in Santo Domingo! With it's clear blue water and fresh cooked fish Boca Chica is a great beach to visit when you are in the capital. But like many places it has a dark side. Take a walk with me so I can explain some of the tourist traps you can fall into.

I have been to DR a few times back in the day and my first trip to DR was to Boca Chica. This gentleman El Check-In is 100 percent correct in what he says. I can't speak for others but I ask the price of things here in the states. And I have the money to buy anything that I want. If I won the Lottery Jackpot of Millions I would STILL ask the price of things. Don't allow yourself to be played, everywhere in the world is not the west.

Been there about 4 times and I love it. Going again in September. Everything my man said is truth lot of hustlers just have too say no and at night they close the streets and theres music and people all over the place.

They got me once on Boca Chica beach around 2013 and I swore I would never eat at a restaurant on that beach again and I never did. The women, the begging, and the robberies at the hands of the restaurants are the reason why Boca Chica is practically a ghost town with few businesses doing well and many closed.

I’ve been to Boca Chica and never had a problem there! Walked to the grocery store and Everywhere else, you’re right it’s kind of hood but if you’re with the Dominican local, they going to make sure your okay in their country

Been to Boca Chica a few times and never had a problem. I thing it's because I'm always with Dominicans. If you're with your local Dominican people, you should be fine. Don't stick out as a tourist...

That’s happened to me and my friends also. The guys showed me a fish @ 700 pesos each on the menu. When I received the bill it was 4 times of the original price. The excuses was the fishes we ate were bigger
The most hood beach I've ever visited. Mostly locals and familys at this beach. They tried to scam us on our bill too but I let them know in Spanish the price was ridiculous, they brought manager over and I added it up, brought the bill down over $100, would never go back there.
Even $100 is likely too much but I wonder what the price was prior to that? I have been there too but I was with a friend and a taxi driver that became our tour guide/friend. I don’t see myself been there alone

You made it easy for me to enjoy myself there. Went in June and July. Was thinking to go once a month but got a bit popular (i think) so imma pause. It addictive especially for someone that loves the culture and resonates with the beach.
Personally, I would rather not go to a country where most everyone sees tourists like suckers and is trying to scam me out of my money, and that’s exactly how it felt I in DR

Man it's pretty safe there now if you doing shady things like looking for hard drugs or out there flaunting expensive jewelry rolex watches etc. Then you could possibly run into trouble but then that it's safer than the United States 💯
The hustle in Boca Chica isn’t the restaurants, it’s the moto concho’s and side hustlers that bring you to the restaurant. Never go with them. Just go to a real waiter or waitress and take a picture of the menu. I go to Pelicano, Bocano and D Sonni’s

It is sad to hear so much negative narrative about our brothers and sisters in RD. Im Puertorican and will be traveling for the first time to our neighbor island and feel scare. iF YOU DONT LIKE to be fooled and scam come to Puerto Rico. We are pretty honest, goodhearted people.

Girl please 🙏🏽. My wife and I went to Puerto Rico in March and got there on a Saturday noon, by Sunday noon she wanted to go home. The beach sucked the hospitality sucked the streets and sidewalks norow as her! And El condado was the best part of all ! But only opens from Friday to Sunday! Imagine if you go there for week!? Ni de gratis 😂😂

Well, guess this is out too😂 I've exhausted pretty much every possibility in the DR. I thought closer to Santo Domingo it wouldn't be like this, but apparently not. I guess you have to west of the capital to finally get away from the tourist trap places. This place was on my bucketlist when I was younger, and it seemed like such an amazing country, but the people who live there have completely ruined it like Jamaica.
The beach is not that beautiful but the area is chill but I love it 😍

Luckily i didn't have a bad run out there..the beers were a bit more but we paid for them up front and didn't eat on the beach. That Pica Pollo you walked by we ate at and all things considered it was reasonable. Boca Chica isn't bad as long as you move smart. I think the beach is beautiful, but i'm not much of a late night person anymore. However I may stay a night or two there next trip then head up to Sosua. Nice footage.

I’m a white guy solo traveller who speaks minimal Spanish. I’m learning how slowly. I’m trying. But if you are just firm, polite, respectful and confident you should be fine in Dominican Republic and Boca Chica
Do they play music every night? I want to stay on the beach but I don't want a bunch of noise on a Tuesday.
@@mrnogood I was just there during the day but there are some small clubs and bars on the main drag that play music according to some other videos I've seen.
I didn't think boca chica was very dangerous when i went, was pretty chilled.
im confused where can things get dangerous in boca chica...been there 15 times...nothing happed...just dont walk alone at night..but 60% of the streets is not properly lit anyway...so where is this danger u talking about

Hamaca Suites is a nice economical resort. Pelicano Beach Club and Bocano restaurants have nice vibes but I prefer Pelicano

Thank you for watching ! I wouldn't say it's dangerous at night! Just like any place it's good to stay alert at night and always ask prices before hand. At night it is a pedestrian area with tables and chairs. However, never, ever walk on the beach at night, never. You will be mugged if you do. Never walk on the beach at night, never.

Worrying about being scammed takes all the fun out visiting a country. The purpose of vacationing is to let your guard down and have sun & fun.

"Pay me for a whiskey. That's a kind of blackmail. This sometimes happens when you're traveling alone as a tourist and staying in Boca Chica for a longer period of time. You are approached in the middle of the street by a local who asks you to pay for a whiskey in some bar. If you refuse, you will be approached again the next day, even if your friend accompanies you, and blackmailed: "Pay up or buy me a whiskey, otherwise there will be trouble." I won't be going there again. Other places in the Dominican Republic or Cuba are better. Some things there really make you angry. Always travel in a group.

I am thinking Ill need a safe place to leave my sunblock ,towel,, water bottle ? Where in Boca chica can this happen? I'm dominican from New jersey and i can say my country is 200 times safer than USA in all ways. Danger is everywhere but things that happen in USA it doesn't happen in my country: you don't get killed because you are black like here,nobody cut your face because gangs initiation,nobody push you in the raíl of train,nobody kill a los of People because he got Fired in job. We're not perfect in DR but is a paradise comparing with USA that only have money.

Tough question bro ! Id say $100 a day If you are really tryna enjoy It but If you Just want to eat and play the beach $60 a Day Will work ($10 per meal and $30 to spend) buy a bottle the first day so you don't have to keep buying drinks.

@@frankxd9232 Punta cana actually took over from puerto plata. The government closed all the bars down in puerto by the malecón. And many resorts to build everything back in punta cana. I actually drove through punta cana when it was in construction. All flights from the uk used to go to puerto plata. Now flights only go to punta cana

Been there a bunch and am going back this summer. Never, ever had a problem with any tuff wanna-be's. The women are more aggressive in this region and need to be corralled from time to time from any encounter I have had and expect to have in the future. Good problem to have!
