- Dear students, In today's video, Vineet Khatri sir will discuss the concept of Optical Activity and Chirality in organic chemistry. This topic is crucial for determining whether a compound is optically active or inactive. Vineet Khatri sir will explore how to quickly identify optically active and chiral compounds, as well as optically inactive and achiral ones. Understanding these concepts will help you determine which compounds can rotate plane-polarized light and which cannot.
Topics Covered:
Definition and importance of Optical Activity
How to identify optically active and inactive compounds
Relationship between chirality and optical activity
Use of Plane of Symmetry (POS) and Center of Symmetry (C.I.) in determining optical activity
Practical tips and tricks for quick identification
Make sure to watch the video for a deeper understanding and try the homework questions provided to test your knowledge for IIT JEE & NEET.

1st & 2nd are optically active compound. 3rd is optically inactive compound.
Thank you sir ❤ thank you so much
Love you sir❤
1 st and 2nd are chiral and 3rd is achiral
Thank you sir❤
Most welcome
in 3 rd as there is consecutive double bonds so they should not line on same plane so it is optically active ???
Good question
Sir in 1st there is no chiral carbon because there is no different group
But both c atoms are sp2 and hence planar....tht means plane of symmetry is there
Sir 11th or 12th me puche jne wale formula bataye All subject ka
1 is optically active, 2 is optically inactive, 3 optically inactive
9th comment is mine
Please tell why is the first homework compound optically active
The compound does not contain pos and cos but here E-Z notation is possible so.........
first viewer 😅😅
🐴🐓🐴🐓🥴💩🥱🚻🥺 Samaj Gye
Ist optimally inactive..coz comp itself is planer.
2nd inactive coz..exactly 1 chiral centre
3rd op active cozin case of mutual double bonds, groups attcahed to c1 and c3 lie perpendicular to one anothet hence no pos and cos.
1 is optically inactive bcoz pos is present and 2 nd 3 are optically active bcoz in 2nd chiral C present and in 3rd no pos and cos.... Kya ye shi h sir.. Plzz btana
😑
1&2 Are optically active...
Why is 1 optically active 🙏
111th like 😅
