  • African Burial Ground National Monument is the first national monument and museum dedicated to Africans of early New York and Americans of African descent. It is the oldest and largest known excavated burial ground in North America for both free and enslaved Africans. This program details the history of the African Burial Ground, from its creation, through its rediscovery, and onto its designation as a National Park.
