You need to explain to them that yes, you are co-opting their culture, but you're doing it respectfully, and you're truly paying homage to the greats who've come before you. And that you truly respect the movement of black people wanting to continue to push our music and culture forward, without having to be shot in the street by police just for being black and "rapper-like". By now in 2020, Rap has become so main stream and apart of the culture that it’s no longer exclusively an African American form of art. African Americans have created something great (one of many great things) that has been embraced by people of all races. Instead of acknowledging this he is so fucking bitter that he wants us to all be segregated again. Yeah, like that worked out so great before.
