The Lord's servants are guided by the Spirit as they consistently reveal the simple and liberating truths of the Gospel. We sustain you Elder Oaks.

Speaking of opposition...There are some dislikes for this great conference talk. I will stand by the Lord's servants.

The Church is making great efforts to be transparent with the records we have, but after all we can publish, our members are sometimes left with basic questions that cannot be resolved by study. That is the Church history of "opposition in all things." Some things can only be learned by faith. Our ultimate reliance must be faith in the witness we have received from the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Ghost is a much more reliable source than only bits of history that may or may not be factual, especially out of context. I don’t know what those are, so I don’t really know if they are true or not, but I do know that there are historians who will distort or deceive people by not telling the truth, or maybe not telling the full truth. It has been said that they can deceive the very elect. So I stay with the Holy Ghost, and with the brethren, and don’t try to investigate something that may be controversial. I saw someone who did, and the truth was not opened up to them fully in this life, because he was very closed to it. Maybe God did not tell him yet. One other who did the same now questions the truth a lot. Each of those people had a problem with Joseph Smith after reading a book that was not true history by a historian. I threw away a copy of that book because of what that author had done....which has had ripple effects with me. Even tragedies.

We are six days away from the October, 2024, General Conference. Who among the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve shall die; and Jesus has not returned?

This is a subject, besides agency. That i wish more people understood. They dont want opposition, nor do they want to believe there must be opposition in all things. As elder Oaks said, opposition enables choice. With choice, comes consequences. People dont want consequences but fail to understand that consequences cannot be avoided. Even if its not immediate, it will come. People want a choice until the consequence comes. Its funny how we live in such a world where people refuse to understand such a basic principle. Whether one is religious or not.

A great example of things that people offer opposition on is the early banks. These banks failed yet were established by a prophet. SO some use the logic that if he was a prophet how did he not see that it would fail. Him being a prophet doesn't mean God gives him an omnipotent complete knowledge of the future. It means that God gives him the gift of delivering specific messages at specific times. There is a time and a season for all things. Also Joseph Smith was here as part of his test as well so he needed to have adversity as well.

After all, Prophets are on earth for His purpose. They cannot question it. They have to obey. Joseph Smith understood his purpose. Prophets were never meant to be loved. They are here to speak the eternal truths of God!!
Why not go on in so great a cause?

Why does God have to have a plan in which he has guaranteed losses in his children. Does he really love us perfectly? I'm having trouble with this.

I’m curious, is this still a question you have or has it been answered? I’m happy to answer if you haven’t received one yet.

If we don’t have to choose we would not grow + I think Heavenly Fathers does knows we are happy chosen because we are always glad to see success and we would not be able to be happy as robots.

Those losses are caused by our choice, not His. Now,no unclean thing can dwell in His presence and we can only be made clean, or sanctified, through our own choice to repent and come unto Christ. In other words, Eternal Life is a blessing or reward for right choices. Christ can save us from our sins, but not in our sins. The only way to guarantee no sin is to strip us of choice and turn us into automatons, unable to merit any blessings at all.
