I've been thoroughly enjoying this whole series, but seeing you teach people to "pull threads" to find the straight of the goods has totally sold me on you! That's the kind of "old school" skill I totally appreciate in an artist. LOVE these! I think the pink one is my favorite beccause it is fuller! I found some spiral notebooks with plastic covers with designs cut out of them in the stationery section and some "texture rub" plates in the children's section at $tree, which both would be great for the gelli plate, so I'm very excited for next week! Wanted to share with you a pic but can't seem to attach it here. I made a tassel out of the left over strings from making the burlap flowers. I also made burlap leaves by putting our water-glue all over the burlap, waited for it to dry, & then cut! Thanks for all you do! You inspire so much creativity to all your subbies!

Someday you will try, and find out it is not very hard at all :) I just haul out all of my stash and I do all of my build your stash videos at my kitchen table :) I record with my phone, and if you keep your videos under 12 min. you can upload them right to YT without any editing, and it doesn't take long at all :) The nice thing about doing videos is that after you have done it, you can watch it and see if you like it, if you do, you send it to YT, if you don't like it you don't have to upload it, you just delete it off your phone or camera and try again :) Have an Outstanding Day :) amy

Love these! They are elegant! I made a bunch for a wedding a couple of years ago, they were beautiful! I wrapped them in floral tape & added leaves. So much work but so pretty. My fingers were definitely sore by the end! The customer was delighted! Made my day! Thank you! The only thing I didn’t like was the fat butte. But I guess I just have to mash it down. Going to make some more! Got a lot of burlap that I need to use up from making burlap wreaths.

After gluing along the edges, lay parchment with glued burlap on a cookie sheet and put in 200 degree oven to dry, much faster!!!

I alway wondered how those were made. Did your other gelly plate get bad? I bought the pans yesterday to try and make my first gelly plate. Now I have to get the other stuff.
Hello Brenda :) Thank you for the sweet comment :) I made a gelli plate a few years back that I store on a piece of thick glass, and I am still using it today, but the one I made for the series has pulled up rust bits from the pan (even though the pan is not rusty) I would suggest that after you are all finished making your plate and you have it out of the pan, put parchment on the pan you will be storing it on before you put the plate on the pan, and that should solve the problem I had :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy

Would it work using hot glue on the edges instead of elmers glue? These are super cute thanks for sharing!
Hello Kathy :) Thank you for the sweet comment :) You could use hot glue, but it would add bulk, and some hot glue gets pretty hard and might make it difficult to roll :) Just give it a try and see how you like it with hot glue, be careful not to burn yourself, that is a long run of glue :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy

My only suggestion would be that if you’re going to film the pulling of every thread, perhaps you could speed up that part. After the first could of threads, it gets a little monotonous waiting for the next step.

awwwe Thank you so much Amy!! I will show her in the morning. She will be thrilled! I actually only recently got into art and crafting. I have always loved it but never made time to actually do it! However very recently in the last 5 yrs my life took a sudden shift and I finally took my life back after a lifetime of domestic violence. It was 5 1/2 yrs ago when my abuser assaulted me while 6mo pregnant with my now 5yr old. and left me with a serious spinal cord injury and a choice to make. I was given an opportunity by the local police to go into a domestic violence shelter and be in hiding and leave my old life behind. I never in a million years thought that day would ever come, but it did. I sunk my entire soul into learning all the how's and why's of domestic violence and have worked really hard to break the cycle of abuse in my family and so far so good! It was while living in the shelter that they offered art classes. For the first time I had permission to sit and create art without any guilt and I LOVED it! It became my sanctuary and a lot of healing happened in that classroom. So I have since carried on the tradition of artful healing in my home with my four kids and it has made such a difference. I also decided to go back into the local shelters and pay it forward by offering a simple art project that can be done in an hour and I have seen such a difference in the ladies in just that hours time! So that's how I landed onto RUclips because I had to take a crash course in art and finding fun projects that the ladies would want to do! I love your idea of art on a budget because I am on a budget believe me!!! Hahaha....So thank you for taking your time to shoot these amazing videos and sharing them with all of us fellow crafters!!! You Rock in my book Amy!!! I look forward to watching many, MANY more of your videos!!!!
Hello U :) Thank you for the sweet comment :) Art is a healer for so many, it takes us away and keeps our minds off whatever is going on in our life for awhile :) I too left my abuser and started a new life when my oldest daughter was just a year old, I didn't want her to fall into the same trap that I did, and think it was normal to be treated that way :) I was not raised in a family with abuse, but I got myself into that kind of situation anyway, and I had read that children raised in that kind of home had a larger chance of winding up in an abusive relationship. I just couldn't have that for my daughter and she was my strength to get out :) God bless you with a wonderful life with your children, you deserve it :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
I do public speaking raising awareness on domestic violence as well as going into the shelter's and sharing art and hope with the survivors. The one thing I always say is that you can find domestic violence everywhere from the outhouse to the white house! It does not discriminate. Often times in the more affluent communities they are not aware of it being in their own neighborhoods let alone at their workplace. Its sadly more prevalent than most want to admit. I filmed a documentary a little over a year ago sharing the importance of affordable housing for survivors and for more mentoring programs for the children living in those homes of abuse and the ones who are now in safe stable housing. I will post the link to my documentary if you want to watch it? My little girl is in it along with my other three children and actually now that I think about it I was doing a craft with them at the end of the documentary! LOL Its short and only I think 5 min long. You have a blessed day Amy.
