Loved your video! Even though you're a beginner you've explained everything in a much more comprehensive way than a lot of tutorials that I watched from professionals
Pro tip from a smoker, 💚🍃 if you have butane in your torch and your clicking it but it won’t light: have a regular bic lighter or something similar to just light the gas coming out. So much faster and more efficient. My torch hates me. 😭🤣🖤 Love your content Tiffany! You’re such an inspiration!!! 🖤🥰
I took a jewelry class in college and was amazed that it can take 8 hours to finish polishing/sanding even something as small as a ring even by hand.... I would recommend getting a cheap dremel and then some attachments for it for polishing! you can also diy sand paper attachments and get other attachments pretty cheap. I'd also say pleaseee wear a good quality mask when sanding/filing because the dust is no joke if you keep doing it!
How cool, I didn't know there was silver metal clay. The charms you made all turned out nice and cute. Looking forward to seeing how they look with the red cord and seeing how the ring turns out.
You can put your whole piece into the liver of sulphur solution and then polish. The black will remain in the recessed areas and the rest will be bright silver. Also, If you want to change the texture of the pendants you can always use cheap needle files or sanding sticks. You can make sanding sticks with a variety of sand papers and use paint stir sticks from Home Depot. They’re very simple to make! If you sand from 220 grit and work up to 2000 grit, that’s how you end up with a mirror polish! Loving what you’re doing though, keep up the good work! ❤✨
I am doing metalsmith jewellery, wax casting and I made jewellery for a year. When you work with silver paste I recommend to put an oil drop in your fingers or a drop of water in the clay and kneading well the clay before to work with it. 😊
funnily enough, I rewatched the video with you making those blue wax rings (I wanted to rewatch your reaction/thoughts to making art every day) just YESTERDAY :D Also, kudos for trying this new technique! It was very interesting to watch It IS pretty cool how the jewelry turns silver after the brush! I love the clover one
I highly recommend you watch lots of tutorials on RUclips/skillshare for each new material/skill you're adding, you're now getting to some heavier metalsmithing. I will recommend if you do go with liver of sulfur, to do it outside away from anything you don't want to get patina'd or dissolved, as that usually involves acid in the process. And gives off toxic fumes. When I worked with it (timelapse video on my channel from high school actually!) I worked under a gas hood to protect myself. Can't wait to see what designs you come up with ❤
Can you use regular modeling clay (sculpey) to design something, then make a plaster mold from it (or something else that hard), and then press the clay silver into the mold to cast the final one? Then you can make many multiples. Just be sure to use a release agent so things don’t stick together.
Tiff you’re making me want to pick up jewelry making too! I took one class at an art summer camp and I have the urge to rekindle that flame watching you dip your toes into the craft. Also the gold Star necklace you wear throughout this video gives me accessory envy!!! Love love love 💜✨
I work with stoneware clay and I’ve been wanting to try PMC! It’s super similar, but one thing I was curious about is if you run the same risk of silicosis? When working with the dry clay and sanding, folks will wear masks since it is dangerous to breathe in that dust. Thought it was worth mentioning :)
That's something I was thinking about too :0 I think it's always better to be safe than sorry and to wear a mask (and gloves would be even better). Thanks for mentioning this, since lot's of people don't seem to know about it
So glad that I watched your vid Tiffany, because I saved a pic from Julia Tran of a metal clay piece with the intention to try it out in the upcoming weeks and while you mentioned it being pricy, drying super fast etc. I thought "na-ah!". Thankie for taking us through the whole process and for saving my money and mental energy hahaha.
My mum's family all speak Cantonese, but she did;t teach it to my brother and I when we were growing up, she figured we should just learn English only. As an adult I've had a really hard time trying to make connections with my heritage, I started learning French a few years ago because I wasn't sure if I should learn Cantonese or Mandarin, after a chat with mum she says Mandarin is more useful so I've started doing that. It is so hard compared to French.
That’s so cool that you can make sterling silver jewelry from clay. Never knew it existed. All your charms came out so cute. I really like the cat charm. 😻 Have Persimmon and Earl Grey met yet?
Thank you for the explanations. I didn't know anything about silver clay. The charms and the silk cord turned out really cute! ♡ I was wondering if it is possible to make a hair pin w/ silver clay ?

but I loved this vid and it was so fun to think about making jewelry again...I wish it was a less expensive hobby lol

That upstairs room is honestly bigger than my house, it’s such an amazing space for art 🥹❤
I wish I had a space like that ❤❤❤
@@tetedelacoursecafe520 me too I’d never leave

The timing was perfect! I think the clover is also my favorite

Ooo yes! Would have to start taking more serious precautions if I want to do this more often. ✨
@@apple.cheeks Even once in a while with toxic chemicals requires safety precautions.
This video is so chaotic, I love it! Also I really love how the clover charm turned out!
Hehe thank u

It’s the quickest fix

That’s also a good point! The silver clay I think is just way too sticky and I’m not sure how it’ll pull out of the mold. But never say never!

Not going to lie I was thinking about this the entire time, I do think it’ll be safer to wear protection!
I love the way you edit, it's so entertaining and cheerful 💗
I appreciate you!!
You can put the liver of sulfur in a watercolor brush that holds water and darken specific areas
Literally just sat and thought to check if you posted because I feel like watching your video lmao ❤
:,) ❤️ thanks for thinking of me
So neat! I didn't know metal clay was a thing. Thanks for the video.
Thanks so much for making this video 💖 I've been wanting to try this for a long time
What an interesting material, thanks for sharing! 💙

Very nice handmade jewelry

Please get a tumbler. So much faster to polish. Also maybe a jewellery drill - so you can put tips in for polishing. That marker can be polished off.
Woop woop new apple cheeks video!!!!🎉
Heck yeah!

You can make anything with it! I would maybe use silver wire for the actual pin part though
Love the efforts!! Kudos!!
If you’re able to, use propane. The tanks last forever and you wouldn’t have to refill at all during your project ✨
very good
Been thinking of making my own jewelry lately LOL
It’s actually so fun, there are so many different ways to make them
Can you make enamel pins with this stuff?
❤
Ugh apparently every can of butane is bad because mine does the exact same thing. Stupid stuff.
Hahaha maybe it’s just the nature of them
early :D
Woooo!!
That seems like a lot of work and also potential for exposure to bad chemicals or inhaled dust. Be careful using this stuff.
It was no as good as other vlogs
Liver of sulfur and a cheap rock tumbler.
Bless, I’ll look into ine
