You're an excellent teacher!!! I'm so happy I found your site. I get so discouraged trying to follow other tutorials on sewing sites that are often rushed and incomplete for beginners and therefore I give up even starting a project until I found you. Thank you very much for taking the time to show us your thorough step-by-step. 👍❤️
I just made this adorable little cape. I used a fleece. I am giving it to a friend who just had surgery and it will keep her warm and cozy. Thank you so much for sharing this and I love all your videos.
Holy G., Miss Mimi G! 2 days ago I was scouring catalogs trying to find a pattern for a cape/poncho, and I saw you modeling some coats. I couldn't find a pattern in my size. Needless to say, I have been all over the internet trying to find a tutorial. Yours is fabulous. Thanks! Great work!!! :-)
Thank you so much. This outstanding tutorial gives me a simple answer to the question of how to make a circle cape come out correctly when you are using fabric that has a repeat pattern going in one direction. I just made a paper pattern to answer that issue this afternoon, and then I saw your video, and your solution is so simple and so quick. I wish I had seen this video before puzzling over what to do about this problem.
Hi Mimi...I loved this tutorial ! I just finished making up this cape. I made it out of this gorgeous grownup looking plaid fleece fabric. I decided to line it by using your method to trace out the facing once cut to mark and cut the lining that would attach to the free edge of the facing. My only tips for the taller women and also maybe plus sized women making this cape...don't stop at 24" ! If you are working with 60" fabric you may have a good 3" left so use it !!! Also, for the plus sized among us, maybe measure an extra 1/2" to 1" down to make the neckline circle instead of 3". The neckline fits me kinda snug ! Happy Sewing !!!!
I love the cape and your tutorials! I was thinking about making it a reversible cape. Cut for two capes out of different fabrics. Stitch the two together, leave an open on the bottom to turn it out! If you put buttons, then sew buttons on both sides at once. what do you think? Keep turning out the tutorials, love them!
Hey Mimi!! I loved this tutorial. My cape came out great. I would love to make a cape blazer. Could you and simplicity make a pattern for a one.... please.. I have been looking for a pattern to make one and can't find one anywhere. I would love to sew a cape blazer, making your cape was great but I would love to try the Cape blazer. Please think about it. Thank you so much.
Will these measurements work for a plus size 22w? If not how will I do the measurments for that size? I love this Tutorial so I pray you can help me with the measurements. TIA
Bonjour Merci beaucoup pour votre partage !!! Grâce à vous je vais faire pleins de cape je vais acheter le tissu et m'y mettre rapidement !!! Merci mille fois😀😀😀
hey mimi, why have you not given an answer for the measurements. i understand this is like a circle skirt, but is it the same if you want this to be longer. i love your tutorials.
I am hoping to make this for my 6 yr old granddaughter. I am thinking I should measure 16-18 inches instead of 23. Cam anyone share any insight on this?
How would I adjust the measurements for being plus size (20p-22p)? Thank you! I enjoy your videos! Now I just need some bell bottom jeans, peasant top, vest and I will have my life's dream closet!!!
Zubaida Amatullah instead of making down at 24" mark down at whatever length you want. for example mark at 30" just make sure your fabric is wide enough as you come around

One size never fits all.
Do you have online shop for items you produced for vid tutorials? I want to buy this one lol.
Hey. 😊. what kind and brand sewing machine are you using?
beautiful will have to try my hand at one of these for my self
Merci!!! simple et super cute
curious as to why you sewed the facing starting at the center back?
This keeps from stretching the neck (which is cut across the grain of the fabric).
