I discovered this about 2 years ago when I was doing a large multi branch tourism board's websites, and it had events, and due to its large number of events I had to allow user to put in start date, end date, and from which date they wanted event to be displayed, and when they wanted the event to automatically stop showing.
Did the custom queries (I was still using elementor, so much easier to do with Bricks), but then took me almost 2 weeks to find out why my custom query codes failed to work as expected, which ended up being the exact same problem acf-> return format.
Cool video, think you saved many people hours/days/weeks of search & trial & frustration 😉

Excellent video Paul, this is a golden nugget! Thanks for sharing, it would've taken me a while to figure out those little tricks, you've saved me a heap of time 👍

Thank you! This was one of those things I was about to explore if it was possible within Bricks. Would you consider a tutorial for displaying a working calendar using ACF and Bricks?

Check out the excellent Pie Calendar plugin, which allows you to create a calendar (even in the free version) using data from ACF custom fields.

Exactly what I needed. I used this method for a community theatre company website. Thank you!

Great video! I really appreciate how you broke down the process step-by-step, especially when it came to setting up and sorting dates using Advanced Custom Fields. The tip about using the ymd format for date storage was really insightful. Your explanation on using meta queries to automatically filter out past dates was super helpful too. The final touch with the grid layout made everything look clean and organized. Thanks for sharing these tips and tricks!

I would like so much so see videos like this and especially like the old videos you had done with custom frontend posts/products submition, listings, etc. Can we make these with ONLY bricks? With Elementor was a headache installing 3rd party plugins and addons.

Paul how would you include recurring events? For instance if a church wanted to include their weekly bible study as an event, how would you set it up so the next class is automatically added when the previous one's date passes?

Great tip! I can see where that be frustrating to decipher.
I have to compliment you, Paul. Your production quality has improved massively! Hiring a professional actor really makes all the difference...where did you find such a handsome bloke? I hope he wasn't difficult to work with...professionals can be real prima donas sometimes!

He was a complete Diva Jim, I'm not going to lie. I don't think I'll be hiring him again based on this initial experience.

I have always used the Ymd date format even here in the states. Same with every other dev I’ve worked with. This whole time I don’t think I ever considered that it’s perfect for sorting but yeah it’s obvious now

Hey Paul, once again an amazing tutorial. I have a question about the meta query part - let's say we only want events to show within a specified date range, say 7 days in advance. How would you go about doing that> Would you use the meta query function? Cheers, Phil.

Hey, Paul! Thanks for the video! Very helpfull! Would it be possible to create an event management site without using a plugin like Amelia? I mean, with Bricks, ACF and a forms plugin?

Hey Paul, great tutorial as always. It would be super nice to show how the last step with the three column layout can be achieved without Advanced Themer. Perhaps with Brick's CSS grid layout and 1fr 1fr 1fr?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  10 месяцев назад +1

Yup, 1fr 1fr 1fr would work fine for the desktop and tablet views and then drop to 1fr for the mobile views. :)

very odd that ACF stores dates like that instead of as an integer like normal php

Future WPTuts episodes should be done with backing guitar. Maybe use that guy in the checked shirt, you could probably get a good rate.

can you make a video on how to make services custom reviews using kadence pro theme using ACF and some how these services can be filtered by service type and rating. I am new to Kadence, ACF and everything else (Newbie). Your videos are very well explained. Thankyou

Don't forget to change the default wordpress time and date if you're using other time stamps. Otherwise, you will get conflicts and very strange results. Also, database and inputs need to be tuned synchronously.
