If you still need to see the first video, where we created custom post types and templates, check it out here: • Mastering Bricks Build... .
Here's what you'll learn in this video:
1. Setting Up Filters: We'll add a filter section to our existing layout, positioned between the hero section and the recipe listings.
2. Custom Taxonomies: Learn how to use custom taxonomies for filtering recipes by type.
3. Custom Meta Fields: Use Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to implement calorie filters per serving and cooking time.
4. Real-Time Filtering: Discover how to set up real-time Ajax filtering for a seamless user experience.
5. Styling and Classes: Apply styling and global classes to make the filter section look polished and professional.
6. Sorting Options: Add sorting functionality to sort recipes by cooking time or other criteria.
By the end of this tutorial, you'll have a fully functional and stylish filter system for your recipe blog. Remember, Bricks's filtering and sorting features are currently in beta, so use them cautiously on live sites.

AMAZING! PERFECT!! Thank you so much Paul, for putting so much contents on YT about BRICKS! I've made a switch from Elementor to Bricks, for me it's a HUGE relief!
Thanks to you the learning curve is pretty smooth!
Paul, you read my mind! I'm building a school directory right now and I swear, 2 hours ago I was thinking "guess it's time I learn about filtering in Bricks". And now here's your video. Hell yeah! :-D
I'm all about timing Matt. lol
Thanks, Paul, for the chapter II of this series with filtering options.
This is a fantastic tutorial! I was looking for a way to add filtering and sorting to my recipe website, and using Bricks to do it all without extra plugins is a huge plus. Following along with your clear steps made it really easy to understand.
Especially helpful was the tip about using BEM naming conventions for styling. That will definitely save me time in the long run.
Thanks for putting this together!
I tried this but was using a query from JetEngine's query builder to pull my "recipes." The filter does not work with anything except Brick Builder's own query builder (which makes sense). Just thought I'd put that out there for anyone who is still trying to figure out how JetEngine co-mingles with Bricks. Except for creating the actual custom fields and post types, I'm finding that a lot of what I used to do in JetEngine can be done directly in Bricks, and even easier in many cases. Thanks for the tutorial, Paul.
Awesome stuff mate.... This really is the content that I/we have been craving for!
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your very good and hard work for all videos :)
Are Bricks Builder filters as effective as those offered by WP Grid Builder?
Nice video as usual, do you know a way to changer the order of the custom taxonomy by the way ? WordPress always display them alphabeticaly, I wonder if there is a workaround to change the order.
I was working this morning on the built-in filters from bricks and tried to understand it for a client portfolio and now I see your video. Stop reading our mind Paul 😂
Really helpful as always, thanks so much Paul. Any plans for demonstrating how to create a loop carousel?
Great video Paul!! I have been playing with the filters and they seem to be working just fine but I hope they will continue to be expanded and be accessible to people with screen readers. Accessibility is important to me and it seems right now you can't access the filters with the keyboard, until that's added I will continue to use Gridbuilder for my facets.
This is good to know! Thanks for pointing this out!
I agree, accessibility needs to be something that has more focus in future Bricks updates.
why do i only get the archive filters element sir... all the other ones are missing from my one..
Hi, your videos are great. About Elementor and now that I've switched to Bricks you are one of the few wells to draw information from.
But I have a problem with sorting. I do everything as in the video, but as soon as I switch to the next page, the sorting disappears.
Is there a special "trick" to filtering from a relationship?
I have a page of cards of properties - each with a suburb field. The suburb field is chosen using a relationshiop field in the property CPT but when it comes to linking it in the filter - it doesn't seem to work.
All other filters work
Hi
I am trying to use minimum and maximum values from different ACF fields. I it possible to do that in the range filter?
The purpose is to have a slider rather than a range where as long as the maximum value is not exceeded or the slider does not go under the minimum value, then the post should show in the query loop.
I achieved this using a separate plugin, but this would be a tremendous thing. As I want to avoid using any plugins to keep the website very light.
How can this be achieved?
Thank you in advance.
Great tutorial / Demo 🙂 Do the filters also work with ACF / Metabox relations?
I haven't tested them with relationships, so can't confirm that I'm afraid.
Wow, that's pretty neat! Do you think this feature could eventually replace WP Gridbuilder?
For relatively simple sites, sure. I till think GridBuilder WP has the edge in more complex setups.
Hello dear, I was wondering if you guys have a team that we can reach to in order to make us a website?
I'm afraid not, no.
didn't bricks pull the filters out of beta in 1.9.8?
Yes, it was my mistake as I haven’t used them in a live site and assumed they were still in beta as they needed to be enabled in the settings.
Yeah I feel like once it was removed from beta and promoted to production ready that they should have removed the settings to enable it. Otherwise the OCD in me wonders why they don’t just have settings to enable or disable all the other elements. lol.
The filter options is not anymore in beta, since version 1.99
You're right, my bad. :)
